Ever since I saw @kyoties Haikyuu!! crossover posts I've been getting some High school Au crossover headcanons. So here they are:
Sakura has followed the sport since she was in diapers because her dad use to play a lot of it in his prime, but it was more beach volleyball. In fact, it was thank to the spirt that her parents met.
He was also a fan of indoor volleyball so she's grown up around the sport. He even taught her some of the the basics when he had time.
(Her dad even make volleyball puns when the opportunity arises.)
In middle school, she used the sport to help her de-stress.
One day, the principal, Tsunade, found Sakura on the court after school and saw a lot of potential in her as a player, and having been a volleyball player herself she offered to play with her. This eventually lead to a mentor student relationship.
Even though sakura never played the sport professionally, Tsunade continued to help sakura improve in her techniques. She felt deep in her bones that one day Sakura was going to need it.
When Sakura graduated Konoha Middle School, her mother was offered a job in the Miyagi Prefecture, which allowed her to go to Karasuno.
She also looked up to the little giant since she could see how hard he worked when she saw him play at nationals.
Her being 5'3" and having played with the boys net height with Tsunade, she knew how hard he must have workes to jump over it. She had nothing but respect for him. (Maybe a crush too since he was pretty easy on the eyes, but you didn't hear it from me. 👀)
She and Yachi become neighbors!!!!
This allows them to become friends, infact really good friends.
They get along intellectually and can read eachother like a book. Sakura keeps Yachi from spiraling down her anxious rabbit hole( along with being very proactive of her), and Yachi calms her down when she snaps.
They also study together a lot and if one doesn't understand something, they can rely on the other to explain it to them.
Anyways, sakura was a little bummed that there where no upcoming volleyball games for a while, but when they had their first game she sat in the back of the bleachers unnoticed. She was blown away at the strategies, and their determination to win.
Though, she did note that the still had a lot to learn before they would be able to go to nationals.
She continues to watch their matches afyer that, silently cheering them on, noting their improvements and what needed to ne improved.
She even watch as the first years run to practice from her classroom window.
She loved seeing how excied they got and laughed at some of the loud banter that they yelled.
When it came to their final mach against Seijoh, and lost she was heart broken. She knew those boys deserved to play against shiratorizawa. To play at nationals, and it was then she decided to help these boys make it too the top when the opportunity arrived.
When Kiyoko is in search of a new manager to take her place, she approches both Yachi and Sakura. The two girls where not really paying attention as one was more focused of Kiyoko's beauty and stares of the other students, and the other was thinking this was the perfect opportunity to help the team. By the time Kiyoko was done, they both agreed to becoming manager.
Feeling overjoyed, took both of their hands (causing them to blush) and thanked them telling them she'd meet them up after school.
Feeling Yachi's nerves kicking in, Sakura took hold of her hand and gave her a smile. Takimg a deep breath, Yachi calmed down and returned the smile, remembering that if she did take on the position, at least her bestfriend would be by her side.
Oh god. Prepare yourself for the eldritch knowledge this question unlocks.

The MultiSaku Discord I’m at hosted a little Secret Santa so here is my aesthetics post/fanfic of InoSaku for @kyoties! There was a request for a flower theme and naturally, I cannot resist using my research of hanakotoba for fanfics or any of my writing in general. XD <3
Long, lean fingers clipped and assembled smooth green stalks together as Ino tied a red ribbon around pristine and meticulously groomed bouquet. Her pointer finger traced the tight crimson bow she created, recalling the last time she gave Sakura a red ribbon. And when their friendship soured for several years, Sakura still kept the gift, a reminder of their first encounter. Even though their friendship was repaired after their first Chunin Exams and they got older, Sakura refrained from wearing the red ribbon all the time, afraid the material would get ruined or worse, lost. She ended up wearing the brilliant ruby red ribbon around her wrist like a good luck charm. Every time she beheld her friend don the childhood token like that, Ino couldn’t squash the tremendous surge of joy swelling up inside her, causing butterflies to invade her stomach.
She knew what the feeling was, she stopped trying to delude herself after she became a chunin. All the crushes she previously had paled in comparison to the burgeoning affinity gripping her heart so tightly whenever she was in Sakura’s company. The love was overwhelming and potent, agonizing and breathless, serene and perplexing all rolled into one. And no longer how much time stretched on, the feelings never dissolved like oil on a scalding fry pan or flowers crumbling against the might of winter. All along Ino sensed her friend would blossom into a beautiful flower but never did she suspect she would fall in love with that budding flower along the way.
Brushing aside any fallen leaves or petals from the elaborate paper encased around the selected flowers, Ino inspected her special bouquet for any hidden flaws. Who would have thought that instead of chasing Sasuke, she was chasing Sakura and prepared to confess her feelings to the pinkette?
Come on, Ino, stop making this effort seem so nerve-wracking. All you need to do is find Sakura, give her the bouquet, see how she reactions the flowers’ meanings, and then confess your love to her. There is nothing complex about that!
As her mind continued to build her confidence levels up, Ino inhaled and then exhaled, assaying to calm the tension slowly wracking her body. Once her heart was no longer pounding in rapid intervals, Ino tucked the bundle of flowers underneath the crook of her elbow to make sure they were secure in her arms. Once she was satisfied, Ino plastered a smile to her face, hoping her inner confidence would soon follow as she swung open the front door to her family’s flower shop. Her heart nearly jumped out of the blonde’s throat at the sight of the person standing before her.
“Sakura?!”
Jaw open in shock, Ino could only stare aimlessly at her childhood friend turned crush while her mind went totally blank. Why was Sakura here, all of a sudden? Wasn’t she supposed to be debriefing the Hokage about the mission she just returned from? And why was there a bundle of flowers cradled proactively in her arms, also tied together with a familiar red ribbon?
Wait...is that the ribbon I offered to her when we were children?
“Hi, Ino,” Sakura answered uncertainly, emerald eyes darting from Ino’s smooth, porcelain visage to Ino’s bouquet, and then the colorful floral array in her hands. “I wanted to stop by your family shop before you left so… here.” She handed her freshly made flower arrangement into her friend’s waiting hands, awkwardly smiling sincerely at her all the while ignoring the other bouquet in Ino was carrying and trying not to overthink who it was for. Sakura never expected Ino to truly reciprocate her feelings anyway.
Ino gaped at the flowers Sakura presented to her, baby blue eyes scrutinizing each petal and recalling the meaning for each blossom. “All of these are for me?”
Sakura nodded, taking a step back. “For you and no one else. I hope you understand my meaning, Ino.”
Tied together in a silky cerise ribbon were forget-me-nots, yellow camellias, gardenias, radiant sunflowers, zinnias, bush clovers, and right in the center of it all, a single red rose. In an instant, Ino recognized each flower’s meaning. Forget-me-nots sometimes stood for ‘remembrance’ but their true meaning in Konoha was ‘true love’. Yellow camellia symbolized ‘longing’, gardenia whispered out ‘secret love’, and sunflowers stood for ‘respect, passionate love, and radiance’. Zinnias promised the receiver loyalty and red rose universally symbolized the bearer was in love. And how could she forget that her own clan sigil, the bush clover, which meant ‘positive love’. Every single flower Sakura brought to her either cried out ‘love’ or such overwhelming, powerful emotions or thoughts she had while assembling each flower with such care and precision. And Ino understood this all too well, for she crafted the same exact flowers into her arrangement, experiencing the same impressions while considering how to use hanakotoba to express her love.
Sasuke, nor anyone else, did not deserve such a lovely, wonderful, and talented woman like her Sakura.
Eyes watering, Ino glanced back up to face Sakura, a catch caught in her throat as she tried to speak. “Oh Sakura… I can’t believe… These flowers, they’re so beautiful.”
“Thank you,” Sakura mumbled, her smile now tight as resignation settled in across her fair features. Ino saw that look before, when her friend was a mere girl and hurt by Sasuke’s casual indifference to her friendship and care. And it was the thought of Sasuke breaking her dear friend’s heart again that compelled Ino to find her voice again and remind her of her mission.
“But these flowers aren’t as gorgeous as you, Sakura,” she purred, assertiveness returning as she flourished her own carefully designed bouquet to the surprised pinkette. “It seems we are constructed out of one mind because I do believe you’ll recognize all these flowers.” Indeed, there were yellow camellias, gardenias, forget-me-nots, sunflowers, and one beautiful red rose but instead of bush clover, Ino had cherry blossoms interwoven in-between all the flowers to create a sense of unity within the floral array, a touch Sakura did not miss.
As she held and studied Ino’s bouquet, the warmth and sparkle in her verdant eyes returned, a faint blush spreading across her cheeks to convey how much Sakura appreciated the gift. Her fingers brushed against the petals of the red rose, then the cherry blossom, and onto to the gardenias prior to meeting Ino’s hopeful gaze. Her genuine beam returned, illuminating Sakura in such a tender, rapturous beauty that only she, Ino, had invoked.
“I love you too, Ino.”
With all her strength, Sakura wrapped one arm around her friend now girlfriend and lifted the squealing Ino up, twirling her around for good measure. The two women laughed, the sheer joy of their love for each other being acquainted and cherished by the other overtaking all their thoughts and actions. In their bubble of bliss, Ino leaned in to claim Sakura’s beckoning mouth, still enjoying how her girlfriend’s sinewy arm was encompassed firmly around her waist. A heady floral aroma already wafted in the air around them as their kiss deepened.
And just as Ino suspected, Sakura’s lips were indeed softer than any petal.
