I finished one of my first acrylic paintings on canvas. It's Daigoji, a shingon buddhist temple in Kyouto which I also visited some years ago. Just to be honest with you, I see that this is not the best painting ever, but since I am developing my acrylic skills this year, I'm pretty happy with the outcome. I can see my own progress, and that's especially fun to me!

紅葉のピークは若干過ぎた気もしたけどそれでも綺麗だった嵐山。 一番綺麗だな、と思ったのは阪急電車の窓越しに見えた紅葉。 行こうと思い立てば午後からでも行けてしまう距離にいる自分が なんて贅沢なんだと思い返した日。

持国天　京都・東寺（国宝 National Treasure）

持国天の梵語名はドリタラーシュトラ 。

「国とその土地を支えるもの」という意味を持つことから持国天と呼ばれています。

帝釈天の眷属（配下）で、 仏の住む世界を支える須弥山の4方向を護る四天王の一尊として東方を守護しています。

十二神将のように唐風の甲冑を着けて髪を結い、頭には天冠台（宝冠を支える台）を被っています。

日本にある四天王像の中で最も猛々しいといわれるその表情で右手に三鈷戟を、 左手には剣を持ち仏敵に一撃を加えようとする姿で邪鬼を踏みつけています。

平安時代の代表的なこの像は、頭の先から足元の邪鬼まで一本の木から彫りだされていて、日本国内の四天王像の中で最高傑作といわれている国宝です。
