SUMMARY: Somehow, discovering a disheveled Kyoya in a commoner mall was only the second strangest thing Haruhi found out that day. Your existence took the number one spot.
A/N: I love secret relationship trope so much... Tell me Kyoya wouldn't keep his relationship under wraps.
This was far from the worst day Kyoya has ever had, but. Well. Today was not making it into the top 10 of best days for sure.
He was dragged to a labyrinth in his sleep and then subsequently abandoned by his friends. In a terrible outfit, no less. Kyoya wasn’t sure if he was relieved to have Haruhi rescue him or if he was mortified that she had to see him in this state.
Haruhi wasn’t sure either. She was in awe watching Kyoya eat a burger— it was like entering an alternate timeline. Compared to the rest of the host club, Kyoya was always more knowledgeable on the lives of commoners, but in a superficial way. He knew statistics and basic facts about regular people like a child knew facts about dinosaurs. Without Haruhi, Kyoya was as disconnected from the real world as everyone else at Ouran.
“… Kyoya?” The pair looked up at the voice calling Kyoya’s name. For a second Haruhi thought someone from the host club finally came back to look for their missing parent, but the person standing in front of them was a stranger to Haruhi. They had a bag of groceries and a confused expression. An utterly normal person.
The strangest part was that Kyoya clearly recognized this person. “(Name)?” His eyes reflected the same confused expression that the bystander had.
“Why… are you dressed like that?”
Now Kyoya was sure that mortification was the strongest emotion he felt today.
“Kyoya-senpai, you know this person?” Haruhi tried to figure out what kind of person would be shopping for groceries at a commoner’s mall but also be acquainted with the shadow prince of the host club. Related to the owner of the mall? No, that was too small scale for the level of high society that Ouran students dealt with. Them being related to the CEO that owns every mall chain across Japan was more likely.
He hesitated to answer, gaze lingering on the person in front of them. Kyoya carefully put down his burger before pushing up his glasses and stating matter-o-factly, “yes. Haruhi, this is my partner, (Name). (Name), this is the Haruhi Fujioka I told you about.”
Haruhi blinked. Partner? She went through her known information about Kyoya, which admittedly wasn’t a lot, but nothing pointed to him having a partner. Especially not a commoner! But the living proof was standing right next to their table and Haruhi was miffed, to say the least. “Partner?! Kyoya-senpai, you have a partner?!”
“Must you sound so shocked?” Kyoya retorted, and there was some earnesty in his otherwise sarcastic remark. It wasn’t like she ever asked him if he had a partner. Everyone just assumed he didn’t.
(Name) bowed following the introduction. “Fujioka-san,” they smiled. “I’ve heard so much about you. It’s nice to meet you.”
They really were a normal person. Dressed in plain clothes and unassuming. And polite. Haruhi realized early on at her transfer to Ouran that polite was rarely a word to describe the children of the wealthy and elite. Haruhi stood up to bow in return. “It’s nice to meet you too, (Name)-san. Sorry, I hope my reaction wasn’t rude. I had no idea Kyoya-senpai had a partner. Do you want to sit with us?”
Before (Name) had a chance to respond, Kyoya already grabbed a chair from an empty table and pulled it over. One exchanged glance with Kyoya was all it took to get (Name) to sit down. “Don’t worry about it, Fujioka-san. Kyoya doesn’t really tell people about me.”
“Please clarify that it is a mutual decision to keep our relationship private,” Kyoya sighed.
(Name) laughed. “Sorry, I was teasing.”
“No one knows? Also, you can call me Haruhi. Please don’t feel the need to be formal!” Haruhi was trying to figure out how to phrase questions that wouldn’t immediately get shut down by Kyoya. How did you meet, how long have you been together, how is your partner a commoner?
“Well, Tamaki-san knows. He found out after—“
Again, Kyoya was quick to interrupt. “Please don’t explain that story. It’s embarrassing.”
“I didn’t know you were worried about shame. Could’ve fooled me with that outfit of yours and your peculiar new hangout spot!” (Name) grinned, and Haruhi found herself in awe for the second time that day. She was used to Kyoya always having a witty remark ready for when one of the club members decided to yell at him, but (Name) might be his equal in that regard. Not only could they banter with Kyoya— Kyoya seemed to enjoy it. He had an unbeatable poker face but Haruhi definitely noticed the corners of his lips curling upwards as he looked at (Name). There was a softness in place of his usual cunning.
Haruhi leaned back in her chair, pleasantly entertained by the pair in front of her. “I guess it makes plenty of sense for Kyoya-senpai to have a private relationship. But, doesn’t that mean you don’t have a lot of time to spend with each other?”
“Oh, sure. I wouldn’t call it ideal. But, Kyoya is married to his job, y’know? I couldn’t take that away from him.”
That time, Kyoya pinched (Name)’s cheek in retaliation. “You’re making me sound like a bad partner. Yes, we don’t spend as much time together as the average couple, but we always make time for each other.”
“Have I ever told you that you look uncomfortable when you explain our relationship to other people?” Kyoya pulled on their cheek. “Agh! Let go!”
Kyoya complied with the request, but not before pressing a light kiss to the cheek he just bullied. He was a host, after all. He knew how to treat someone right. His regular customers would probably be furious to know that he was so chaste on physical affection because it was reserved for his dear partner.
(Name) wasn’t wrong about Kyoya being uncomfortable. He knew how to play the role of a host, but having to be honest about something real, in public, was a different ballpark entirely. But the fact that he was in a space where no one knew who he was or what his status was served to be quite freeing. The usual pressure on his shoulders of being an Ootori was alleviated for once, so he locked hands with (Name) over the table.
It was Haruhi’s turn to be cunning since she would never be afforded this opportunity against Kyoya again. “Kyoya-senpai has been so grumpy today,” Haruhi started. “But he relaxed as soon as you arrived, (Name)-san. He’s really fond of you.”
If (Name) wasn’t here, Kyoya would’ve probably found a way to twist Haruhi’s comment into more debt for her to pay off. But (Name)’s eyes lit up, so Kyoya let Haruhi get away with it this time.
“You’re really good at reading him, Haruhi-san! I may be teasing a lot, but he’s really a great guy. I couldn’t ask for a better partner.” (Name) talked about Kyoya like he was the most precious thing on the planet. For (Name), Kyoya wasn’t just the third Ootori son. He wasn’t burdened with the harshest expectations. All he had to do was be good to them and sometimes Kyoya wished he lived in a world where that was the only thing he ever had to be worried about in his life.
But, right then, in a commoner mall Kyoya had no familiarity with, it was like living that alternate life. So Kyoya allowed himself to smile at (Name) and take in the praise.

a/n: this ended up way longer than expected lol
You should have known that Hikaru was up to something the moment that he slipped into the chair where Kyoya normally sits, a devilish smirk on his face.
"Can I help you?" you raise a brow but don't look up from the diary that you are scribbling in. "Oh no dear y/n, I'm here to help you" overconfidence dripped from him as his grin widened to one of a cheshire cat, finally pulling your gaze upward.
"Oh really?"
"I am quite a charitable person when I have the spare time for it-"
"Ah that's it! You're bored, not today hikaru find a new target"
"-And! I believe I owe you one, you know, for the fair thing" you lean forward in your seat, eyes squinting in scepticism "And what do you think that I need help with?"
"Giving Kyoya a boot up his ass"
"Excuse me?" your voice drops an octave at the statement, confused mostly by the meaning of the statement but also because it was not something you would expect Hikaru to say.
The door to the music room creaks open, Kyoya slipping into the room, Hikaru leans forward to meet you in the middle of the table, a gap barely existing between the two of you. "You see due to a bet I've had to unfortunately look into your relationship far too much recently"
"Yes I did hear about your little investigation, your point?"
The grin on Hikaru's face falls into a smirk "You see while it took me far too long to even remotely understand what it is you two have going on however there was one thing I noticed"
"And what is that?"
"Touch"
"Touch?"
"You two never touch, and while Kaoru seems to believe that the two of you have this secret language thing going on that may be the case but its not even that you don't show affection you two don't touch at all, Tamaki has touched you more than him-"
"-Ew, don't say that"
"Anyway, I just figured that Kyoya may just need a little...push" he reaches up to brush some hair out your face "You have way too much time on your hands"
"Oh I know it is a tragedy, but yet you haven't stopped me yet" you roll your eyes "Why do you care?"
"I don't but surely you do, and well you've meddled in my love life recently, call it my gift back, or revenge whatever you want to call it" he winks.
“But also…I’m concerned”
“Huh?”
“You and Kyoya care about eachother I know that but a relationship isn’t just caring there also is…attraction”
“What are you trying to say?”
“The few things that do happen between you two seem to always be moves that you make, never him” you almost cough out a laugh in shock “what? I mean… wait are you trying to say kyoyas not attracted to me?”
“I’m not saying that, I’m more saying you’re my friend I don’t want you hurt…and a little proof never hurt anyone”
"And you think this will work?"
"Are you asking because you're doubting or because you want it to work?" you stare back at him dead pan, eyes flicking to across the room where kyoya is talking to Tamaki. Hikaru dramatically gasps at the lack of response "Don't tell me you're enjoying this, how touch starved are you poor thing"
"shut up you idiot, kyoya isn't going to fall for this he’s not some- i don’t know romance novel character”
“Indeed” Kyoya’s voice startles the both of you, shadow cast over the table as he appears behind Hikaru. “I believe you’re in my seat”
Hikaru leans back “oh hey Kyoya, don’t mind me I just figured I’d spend some quality time with y/n”
“Really? I know what your doing Hikaru” Hikaru sighs, sliding out the seat “damn it”
“Even if i didn’t it wouldn’t have worked anyway, I’m not threatened by you” he leans into him a little closer, lowering his voice “but if I find you touching without asking her again, now that will be a different story”
“Oh what’s that? Haruhi I’ll be over in a second! Sorry gotta go” he slips away, leaving the seat free for Kyoya to sit down opposite you “I did not expect that to bother you”
“Bother me? No, but ‘you’re not stopping me’ is faulty logic, I don’t get jealous because I have no need for it, protective however…”
“Mm”
Kyoya takes out notebook, starting to work as instinctively almost your fingers twitch outward, just reaching slightly closer to him, if Kyoya notices he doesn’t show it but you double check yourself almost confused on why it happened.
♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
By that evening the interaction with Hikaru was mostly forgotten but there was something brewing in the back of your mind, eventually all you can think about is that when you are sat in the study of your apartment, Kyoya scribbling away at his desk, you stood facing the window, a regular activity the two of you have, silently enjoying each others presence midwork even at home
“Do you think what Hikaru said holds any weight?" Kyoya doesn't look up from the paper, the question not phasing him "Hm?"
"I mean, I rarely ever take notice of what the twins say however his observation is not wrong…we don't act like a couple in public because we like to be private but even when we are alone….should we... be worried about that?"
Catching his attention, Kyoya sits up straight "Does it bother you?"
You shrug "Not necessarily, I mean what does a 'normal couple' even act like, but you know, when one of our friends implies that my partner may not even be attracted to me I feel it's worth questioning a little"
Kyoya lets out what is close to an amused laugh under his breath "is that what this is about?" You roll you're eyes "Forgive me, you're right, you are so open about your motivations and feelings"
"And yet despite that it seems that is a positive in our relationship, you take a strange pride in knowing that you can read me in a way that most do not” you hum in agreement, nodding your head to the side “you’re not wrong, you also are not answering the question for whatever reason”
Kyoya raises his eyebrows “you were serious?”
“Look, do not mistake this as me in search of validation, that being said we don’t really…”
Kyoya smirks, going back to his work “if you want a straight answer you may want to ask an actual question”
“Kyoya.”
“No, we don’t really do much, but it is not because of a lack of attraction”
“As opposed to?”
“I mean, my first priority has always been being respectful to you” he sits back “that being said…I am still a man”
You hum, leaning against the side of the desk “so?”
“So you are my fiancé, we wouldn’t be in this position if I wasn’t attracted to you…in certain ways, I still have carnal desires”
“Can you blame me for asking though?”
He hums, slowly standing and now towering over you as he places a hand next to you on next desk, frustratingly close to you thigh.
“I suppose not, perhaps I have been neglecting certain things…”
You raise a brow at his sudden change in tone “Things? Small word for you is it not?”
“Well it is like we said, we both thrive in speaking through subtext, and I am quite enjoying this little back and forth, particularly your reluctance to say any word that hints towards intimacy” he follows your gaze as it averts from his face.
“I’m assuming you’ve never…”
“You know I haven’t” you mutter, not liking how this once entertaining conversation has flipped “just confirming, you know I would not care either way” he takes his glasses off, placing them on the desk next to you.
You nod "I know."
Through slightly heavier breaths Kyoya pushes some of your hair over shoulder “don’t think that we have to do anything just because it came up” you bite at your lip, somehow that sentence persuading you more than the opposite. “Have you?”
He shoots you a pointed look as if the question even needed answering “now you’re just asking silly questions” his fingers run up and down your forearm slowly in attempt to calm the clear nerves. You shrug “there could have been someone before me”
He lets out a low laugh, a little entertained at you thinking that was a possibility “there wasn’t, I think you give me too much credit” he steals a peck at your jaw as he speaks.
“But, unlike you, my quietness isn’t because I’m shy.” As if to test you his hand slides from the desk over your thigh “I’ve never known you to be flustered”
You roll your eyes “Yes you have you just want to bask in the reason why” he shrugs, a smirk threatening to tug at his lips “I don’t know you are always the more…outspoken one between the two of us…I seem to recall you once said you found me leveraging the sports festival for money attractive”
You smile, head tilting up a bit to look at him “I also seem to recall you kissing me for the first time over my explaining my plans for corporate takeover you really have no place to talk”
“Do I not?” He grins, leaning in to finally kiss you on the lips, everything suddenly becoming. A bit more real.
With shorter breaths your hands subconsciously lift from the desk below to grip his shirt, laughing slightly at the sensation of his fingertips grazing upwards to your hips in addition to the sudden change in pace “I love you”
Kyoya freezes, movements stuttering slightly, while it takes you a second longer you quickly realise why, you had never actually said it before. Well, not the exact words, of course you have in your own way.
For a moment, the two of you don’t say anything, just stand staring at each other, an unspoken agreement that you had just opened the door to something, what exactly neither of you can place, but for a long time neither of you had never said the words because you both knew they were true, which is why you never felt the need to state it.
Kyoya doesn’t comment further, he replies in his own way, moving you slightly so that you are more sat on the desk than leaning against it “I’m not going to go further until you’re sure” he mutters, slightly quieter than he has been.
You nod, hand sliding up to his shoulder “don’t get cold feet on me now” with an eye roll he takes that as confirmation to carry on, shushing you with his lips on yours.
Kyoya worked quickly but systemically, you didn’t know exactly when it happened but you soon found yourself pressed against him, shirtless with an arm thrown over his shoulder, his hands ridden up under your skirt resting on your hips.
The next time the two of you break laboured breaths were the only thing that could be heard between it all.
“Um…we don’t have…”
As if he could tell where you are going he pulls back a little, opening the bottom drawer of his desk, retrieving a box of condoms. “Oh.”
“I figured better have them than not”
“I don’t know why I’m surprised”
“Me neither, but not yet” as you hum in question as he places the box behind you “if we’re doing this now I’m doing it right" his hands fall back to your thighs "Can I?"
You nod "Please" coming out as a whisper only loud enough for him to hear. Taking that word as enough, his hands slip further upwards, a finger curling around the top of your panties. You instinctively lift your hips at the action.
Kyoya slowly peels them off, stuffing them in his back pocket as he runs two slender fingers up and down your folds, a loud breath stuttering out of you as you lean back a bit. He's careful as he dips one into you, a cool sensation shivering through you.
Instinctively you let out a whine, Kyoya tuts "Patience my love, I need to make sure you're ready to take me" he smirks watching your reaction as he starts to pump in and out, adding a second finger after time.
The air gets knocked out of you, head falling back at the sensation, tensing in your stomach as a strange feeling builds up. "k-kyoya..." the name falls from your lips thoughtlessly, hand flying to wrap around his wrist.
A low hum of a chuckle erupts from him "I didn't know you were so sensitive" you look back to him breathless, playfully unimpressed at his smug demeanor. He has mercy on you, slowly easing his fingers out, pulling you up to distract you with his lips at the sudden emptiness, tearing open a condom. "You sure?"
You nod, pulling him closer, an arm falling over his shoulder, playing with the hairs at the back of his neck "Yeah..." he slowly pushes in, breaths hitched at the feeling, kyoya's knuckles turn white at the grip he has on the desk.
"Let me know when you're alright to move"
"You sure you haven't done this before?" You joke breathlessly, head falling to the side. He laughs a little "I'm inexperienced, I never said that meant I don't know what I'm doing"
You laugh, such a kyoya response it was funny, slowly shifting to test the waters of movement "What like you did research or something?" You joke, biting at your lip at the sudden pleasure that has started to form, Kyoya picks up on your lead, slowly rocking into you, chin tilting down to send you a knowing look.
"Oh my god Kyoya did you actually-"
"-suddenly very chatty aren't we?" his hips jerk forward as a silent warning to not finish the sentence, the two of you so close his nose brushes against your cheek "I don't see you complaining"
his hand runs up your thigh, hitching it upwards for your leg to wrap around hip, leaning back slightly as his other hand comes to hold your face, no pressure is applied it isn't forceful, but stable, consuming as it pulls your gaze to meet his. "Maybe focus instead"
You roll your eyes to disguise the fact that your breath keeps getting caught in your chest, toes curling as you watch his gaze also blink away from determination to mild surprise and vulnerability. He clears his throat "y/n I-" a gutteral groan cuts him off. He doesn't need to say more however, you get the picture.
"Yeah- me too-"
He nods, pressing another kiss to your lips, speeding up a little bit. You finish a bit suddenly, an overwhelming sensation of something snapping in your stomach, a shiver arching your back, all thoughts slipping away momentarily as you fall into him, you barely notice the warmth spreading across your lower half and the groan the Kyoya lets out as you regain awareness.
The two of you sit in a comfortable silence for a while, his hand running up and down your thigh absent mindedly grounds you, eventually he slowly pulls out, pressing a kiss to your forehead as he does so. "I'll get a cloth"
He lets out a shaky breath as he steps away, tying off the condom as he chucks it into a bin "Y/n?"
"Hm?" You still haven't moved, hands grounded against the desk as you process what just happened, legs wobbly as you regain your breath.
"If you ever doubt my attraction to you again, tell me"
He walks off towards the bathroom, leaving you staring at the empty doorframe he exited through as his words run through his head.
Damn Hikaru's not gonna let you hear the end of this.
synopsis: what the host club is like when they’re jealous
characters included: tamaki, kyoya, haruhi, hikaru, kaoru, honey & mori
notes: i just wanna say thank you sm for the support on the insta posts! reading all your comments & reposts made me so happy >.<
𐙚 tamaki suoh - loud and proud
this man is not afraid to show (both verbally and physically) how badly he wants you all to himself. he does not care about showing his jealous side, he has zero shame. as soon as he sees anyone show attraction towards you, he has to break it up immediately.
one time you were standing outside music room 3 and tamaki was patiently waiting for you, except he wasn’t being patient at all and he was getting really fidgety whilst he waited for you. he took matters into his own hands dramatically declaring to the rest of the host club that he will find you, tell you off as you are very late (you were one minute behind schedule) & he will bring you back pronto. he slams open the music room doors which lead him to a terrible scene worse than a crime scene - a young man was talking to you…! he wasn’t just talking, he was caressing your arm lightly, oh the horror! tamaki screeched at the sight causing both you and this young man to turn but as you both turned, tamaki was already at your side within a split second. he gripped your shoulders and smiled almost manically at this young man you were talking to “oh, i’m terribly sorry to disrupt your clearly very intriguing conversation but, y/n is late for an appointment with moi.” he flicks his luscious blonde locks causing a sparkle to appear, how does he do that? it’s like he’s a cartoon. you couldn’t even give a simple goodbye to this young man before being dragged away and berated by tamaki for your tardiness. as you reach the door of music room 3, he quickly forgives you “—but, y/n, as i am a graceful and understanding man, i will forgive you my darling. lets get a pot of tea, hm?” you can’t help but chuckle at his foolishness.
𐙚 kyoya ootori - cold and calculated
this man isn’t stupid, he knows that he feels jealous over you sometimes however, he’s not like tamaki, he can’t openly admit to it. so, he takes matters into his own hands and do what kyoya does best - strategically plan something to go exactly the way he wants it to without any connections leading back to him.
not only did you frequent the host club and become close with the members but, you were also in kyoya’s class so, you were around each other a lot. however, kyoya had started to notice you were talking less to him and tamaki and more to some other guy. tamaki would constantly tease kyoya as he often caught him sending dirty looks and glares to both you and the random boy as you chatted away, laughing and such. kyoya always brushed tamaki off saying “i just don’t want to lose a good customer.” while that was partly true, he’s a businessman after all, he also didn’t want to lose you. not as a customer, just you. he clears time in his schedule to start making a revenge plan, he hires everyone in the host club to partake in his plan still claiming it to be for “customer/money-making reasons” and everyone saw right through him but, it’s kyoya. nobody’s gonna question him!
thus commences his plan which consisted of just keeping you two apart. somehow distracting you during class, or distracting him, or dragging you off during lunch to help with this that or the other. but, kyoya didn’t leave this boy emptied handed, no no, he replaced you with a girl. you’d be dragged somewhere and plonk, a girl in your place. kyoya knew this boy was romantically interested in you and as the distractions pulled you two apart, it pulled together him and this other girl. he started to move his romantic intentions from you to her. this boy gradually stopped trying to find you and talk to you, to kyoya’s delight. you briefly mentioned it to the host club one day, not realising it was romantic and feeling a bit upset that you’d lost who thought was a friend. kyoya felt a bit bad sure but, he saved you. you’ll never know he did but, he did and that’s enough for him. he does smirk a bit as you tell the short story and replies with a cocky “what a shame.”
𐙚 haruhi fujioka - confused and indifferent
haruhi may be incredibly intelligent but she is not one for social intelligence, let alone romantic intelligence. she’s confused as to why she even feels jealous in the first place & it makes her feel weird. she gets a pit in her stomach every time she even sees you brush someone else’s shoulder and she hates it. she just thinks it’s plain silly to be jealous because you’re not even together!
the twins have been paying a lot of attention to you lately, and usually you’d sit and talk with haruhi but as the twins continue to bug you, you give in and eventually start conversing with them more and more until you’re with them more than haruhi. you don’t flat out ignore haruhi, of course not, but she just feels this pit in her stomach and a stabbing pain in her chest as she watches you from a distance, chatting and laughing with the twins. she really tries her best to ignore this feeling, so much so that even when you do talk to her, she ends up acting indifferent toward you. the conversations between the two of you are shorter, filled with more awkward silences than either of you would like. haruhi notices this and knows this is happening because of her foolish jealously but, she genuinely can’t help it! she’s really trying to both ignore this ever growing jealously and still try to act normal around you but it seems impossible. you’re obviously upset thinking that haruhi doesn’t like you anymore, for whatever reason & the whole host club notices these changes. overall, its an extremely messy situation that will probably be resolved through an extremely thorough, detailed plan made by tamaki suoh himself.
𐙚 hikaru hitachiin - quiet and cold
he’s such an aggravating jealous type, he becomes extremely quiet and not the quiet where you feel sad the type of quiet where when you walk into a room, you can feel the anger radiating off the person. the whole host club and especially kaoru are in fear, quite frankly. they need to nip this in the bud asap. not only is he terribly quiet, he’s also incredibly cold specifically toward you! the host club can’t help but cringe as you try your best to interact with hikaru.
he had seen you getting as he’d describe ‘cosy’ with someone this morning outside of the school gates, and it made him so freaking jealous. why wasn’t he that cosy with you? you never hugged him goodbye or laughed so hard at his jokes that you slapped his arm. he was so upset. from 8am this morning, everyone had to face his wrath. he was quiet all day, only answering with snappy short answers. he barely ate at lunch even though his favourite dishes were included and then came the host club. he tried his best to keep up with the ‘brotherly love’ dynamic but found it difficult as that image of you with that person just kept circling in his mind constantly. all the clients that day noticed his change in demeanour and kyoya was not happy to see their clients upset or leaving early - hikarus personal issues were causing harm to the business! before kyoya could storm over there and stop this nonsense himself, you walked in. its like the whole room secretly knew where hikarus problem lies because everyone fell silent. you gulped nervously, why did everyone suddenly stop? as you made your way over to the twins, kaoru looked relived to see you while hikaru didn’t look at you at all. kaoru excitedly poured you a cup of tea as you sat down slowly still staring at hikaru, silently begging him to look at you. but, your silent pleas didn’t work. he would only take small glances at you, just to turn his nose up and turn his head away again. oh, the drama. you and kaoru awkwardly conversed, both of you tried your best to get hikaru involved but, he refused. although, he did make a sly comment or two. after some conversing you mention that your cousin had dropped you to school this morning, your cousin from a foreign country. hikarus interest had piqued “wait… cousin…?” he thought to himself. the whole host club and clients included all face palmed hearing this, hikaru had over exaggerated. once again.
𐙚 kaoru hitachiin - sad and nonchalant
kaoru may be mischievous and cheeky like his older twin but, they are different in some aspects and one being when it comes to love. kaoru would never dream of making his jealously yours or anyone else’s problem.
when he saw you getting friendly with your seat partner in class, it greatly saddened him. you two used to sit beside each other (hikaru on his other side, of course) but you got moved after an exchange student joined the class and you were the only one who spoke english well enough to help them. at first, you were just a nice classmate but as the weeks went by, you two would spend more time together, talk about other things other than school and laugh together and to make it worse, kaoru barely knew what you were even talking about because you were conversing in english! he accepts his fate and thinks that you’re in love with this exchange student and that’s it for him and the idea of ever being with you - but, as long as you’re happy, he’s happy. kaoru is so mature when it comes to this, he doesn’t interfere or ask the host club to come up with an elaborate plan or anything of the sort. although, it’s hard for him to hide his sadness especially around you. you still visit the host club often and try your best to talk to kaoru as you still think your friends but, he goes extremely quiet, only giving you short or one word answers. it makes you sad that he seems so off with you and you can’t even ignore the signs because every time you try to spend time with him he comes up with some excuse to not be around you. in his mind, it’s the best way to be so he doesn’t get in your way.
some time passes, and you decide to bring it up to him (when you finally catch him alone), you beg to know what’s the matter and after a lot of refusal, kaoru finally cracks and tells you everything he has been feeling. you blush at the thought of the kaoru hitachiin getting jealous over you! safe to say that by your next lesson, you request to move back to your original seat, right next to kaoru.
𐙚 mitsukuni haninozuka - melancholy and mature
honey is obviously known for his boy lolita character, he may act aloof but he is eighteen and just because he’s super cute doesn’t mean he’s not incredibly emotionally intelligent both when it comes to himself and others. he is the second most chill host club member at least when it comes to jealously.
you were honeys regular (and favourite but, don’t tell the other clients that) however, to his dismay, you had been coming less and less for the last two weeks. he was upset by this and asked around the host club wondering if they had seen you around and indeed they had… with another man! gasp! you were seemingly canoodling with some guy from your year group and oh, poor honey was so upset. you were his favourite for a reason and now you’re gone! however, he doesn’t let this get in the way of his life. he will absolutely have a cry in his room or to mori whilst eating a buttload of cake (like even more than usual) for about a week or so to help get rid of these negative emotions. however, when he’s doing his host club thing he can’t help but think about you in the back of his mind even though he’s supposed to be ‘recovered’.
after about another two weeks or so, honey is pretty much over it. but, all his hard work to get to this point is almost completely shattered because you walked into the host club! you swing your head around until your eyes land on honey and you run toward him immediately, desperate to explain your situation. honeys face drops into a pout at your arrival, he just got over you, why did you have to come back?! you interrupt his session with some other girls and start to explain yourself, the boy you were with was a marriage suitor arranged by your parents but, it fell through! you were free from the grasp of arranged marriage and ready to be honeys favourite client again. honey is absolutely overjoyed to hear this and tackles you with a hug, feeling a bit embarrassed that he let his jealously get to him so much. he ate a lot cake for that week where he was sad. like a lot, he had several cavities after.
𐙚 takashi morinozuka - quiet and and calm, duh
okay, i know this is hard to imagine but mori is even more quiet when he’s jealous. he’s completely calm and to the average person, he may seem like the same old mori but, to the trained eye he is far from normal.
the host club could feel something was wrong, just by the air in the room and honey quickly informed them that mori was being quiet and everyone was like “well, duh.” but honey had to explain that it ran deeper than that, he was jealous. the host club gasped, over what!? or who!? over you, that’s who. he had been silently tending to the animals and insects he had made friends with in the ouran academy gardens when he saw you gracefully wandering through the rose bushes and you weren’t alone, you were with a second year who had been known for being a mori lookalike. they were both tall, lanky, nonchalant and incredibly handsome. mori’s face stayed stoic as he watched you both, his animal friends still at his side comforting him - had been replaced? by a lookalike?! why would you want a lookalike when you had the original? this whole ordeal made him very upset, not to the point where was ripping his hair out in anguish but, he was upset. honey realised it especially, he was extra quiet and extra stoic even if nobody else noticed a difference. however, these negative emotions actually aided mori in his kendo! he was able to blow off a lot of steam and perform even more powerful moves than usual, which made him a little bit happier.
honey, who had to deal with this sad mori constantly, had enough and decided to confront you. it was difficult to get mori off his back because i mean it’s honey and mori but also, mori was more clingy lately (due to his jealous outburst) but honey found a way. honey was quick to find you and confronted you quite bluntly, you were shocked to hear this explaining that the second year wanted a tour of the garden as you were the leader of the gardening club, you didn’t believe it to be romantic! and that’s when it all starts adding up, mori lookalike… what’s another way to be more like mori…? go after the person he likes! god, you feel like a fool. before honey can make his great escape back to mori, mori finds honey himself. before mori can snatch honey and make a dramatic exit, you apologise and explain what’s happened. god, now mori feels like a fool too.
Kyoya greeted the second he entered the room, his head held high with his school bag tucked neatly under his arm.
Tamaki immediately perked up, turning towards Kyoya as mushrooms began to fall from his shoulders—a dead giveaway that he was sulking a few moments prior.
“You made it!”
“It’s unlike you to be late, Kyoya-Senpai.”
Haruhi commented, watching as Kyoya took a seat in the chair next to Tamaki. He took out his computer, placing it on the table and immediately beginning to type.
“Yes, it is—I apologize for that. I seemed to have misplaced my tie, I couldn’t find it this morning and ended up running late.”
It was then everyone noticed that his collar lacked a tie, leaving the white undershirt bare underneath his blazer. Hikaru raised his brow, leaning forward against the table,
“Don’t you have—”
“—Any spares?”
Kaoru finished his brother’s sentence, matching his mannerisms as the two stared at Kyoya. Before he had the chance to respond, his phone began to buzz in his pocket—a muffled ringtone emitting from the small device.
“Hello?”
Kyoya answered the phone, his tone uncharacteristically light—which caught the other hosts off guard.
“Hey, is this a bad time?”
A feminine voice spoke from the phone, too quiet for anyone but Kyoya to hear. The hosts watched as Kyoya’s brows furrowed ever so slightly, his full attention focused on the phone call.
“Not at all. Is everything alright?”
“Yeah! You just left your tie at my place last night and I wanted to give it to you before class. I’m outside music room three if you want to—”
“Perfect, do you mind coming in and giving it to me?”
The hosts shared a look, beyond confused as to who could be on the other line of the call. Their first assumption was that it was some sort of business partner, but his tone was too soft and delicate—as if he were talking to someone he admired rather than respected.
“Are you sure?”
“I’m sure.”
Kyoya quickly ended the call, tucking his phone back into his pocket as he stood from his seat. Before any of the other hosts could question who had called him, the doors suddenly opened.
In walked a female, face painted a ghostly shade of white with bold makeup on top. Layers of clothing and jewelry were stacked on her body as her [h/c] hair framed her face in a way that suited her.
Her round, [e/c] eyes scanned the room, squinting in delight when she spotted Kyoya. She began to make her way towards him, only stopping when she stood before him.
“Here’s your tie.”
She gestured the accessory in his direction, her lips curling into a small smile. Instead of taking it, Kyoya removed his blazer and lifted the collar of his undershirt,
“Do you mind putting it on for me?”
Her eyes widened, taken aback by the request—however, she happily obliged. Kyoya stood patiently, watching as she tied the cloth around his neck.
His expression was unlike anything the rest of the hosts had seen—it was genuine. If they had to choose a single, real-life embodiment of the word love, they would definitely choose the way he looked at her.
There was no hint of calculating or any sort of coldness, he simply stared at the girl as if she hung the stars and moon herself.
Once she finished, she helped re-fold his collar and put his blazer back on, carefully re-buttoning each button until it sat the way she knew he liked it.
“KYOYA!”
A sudden screech caught the two off guard. Kyoya’s eyes immediately squinted in annoyance, head turning to see Tamaki stomping towards him with a scowl.
“HAVE YOU BEEN KEEPING SECRETS FROM DADDY?!”
Tamaki fumed—and once he was close enough, he grabbed Kyoya’s arm and pulled him away from the girl, pointing an accusatory finger at her.
“WHO IS THAT?!”
The girl stood in place with wide eyes, glancing back and forth between Tamaki and Kyoya. She remained silent, hands folded neatly behind her back as she waited for Kyoya to answer.
She knew Kyoya liked his privacy, especially when it came to the host club, so she refrained from speaking on Kyoya’s behalf—she didn’t want to say anything Kyoya didn’t want her to.
Tamaki, however, was not fond of the silence. He placed his hands on Kyoya’s shoulders, shaking him back and forth as his gaze switched from him to her—then back to him,
“ANSWER ME—ONE OF YOU!”
To his surprise, Kyoya suddenly smacked his hands off of his shoulders. He straightened his blazer before walking towards the girl, placing a hand on her waist and pulling her close—not in a possessive way, but as a loving gesture.
A gesture that communicated that he was done with keeping secrets.
“This is [Y/n].”
He answered, his tone firm. He then turned to her, gently grabbing her hand and placing a delicate kiss on the palm,
Pairing: Kyoya Ootori x reader
Warnings: 18+ mdni, smut with fluff, creampie, morning sex, hints of overstimulation, praise.
It had been known upon Kyoya's friends and family that he was not, by any means, an early riser. Whenever bothered in the early morning, or any time before he had wanted to wake up (even if it's 4pm in the afternoon), Kyoya was always grouchy. Spouting cynical and rude comments, glowering and mumbling at whoever even thought of disturbing his sleep. Everyone had taken note to never bother him in bed.
However, in his second year of college, something started to shift.
Mori and Haruhi had taken note of it first- Kyoya had gotten progressively more polite. You could even go as far to say he had become an early bird, his second semester of classes mainly consisted of 8 or 9 am lectures compared to his 2 to 3 pm classes.
Kyoya had claimed it was because of the length of the classes- and it was better to go to one long class in the morning twice a week rather than five short ones in the afternoon. It had convinced most of the group- knowing he always had an efficient strategy in order to maximize anything for his benefit. In typical Ootori fashion, Kyoya had a logical reason for everything.
Tamaki had wondered what it was. A newfound maturity? He started going to bed earlier maybe. What if he started to become an insomniac and was actually never sleeping in the first place, and he started becoming kind as a result of his delirium?
Haruhi had crossed off the last option, rolling her eyes at his ridiculous assumption. She didn't really care why, but Tamaki never leaves things alone. Rejecting Tamaki's idea of watching his every move, Haruhi had opted to just ask Kyoya in order to settle Tamaki's nerves.
"Kyoya-kun, I've noticed you've been more of an early riser, is there any reason as to why?"
Kyoya tilts his head, looking up in contemplation before smiling to the side. "I've had more to look forward to in the mornings than I did before." His gaze follows you, observing your face as you animatedly tell the twins a story. Your eyes meet his for a split second, smiling sweetly at him before turning your attention back to the twins.
Haruhi immediately understands and looks at Kyoya as he admires you softly, a small smile gracing his lips as you laugh at the twins' responses. Tamaki, however, cannot accept the answer, and can't help but press more.
"What could've possibly transformed your nasty attitude into such a morning person?"
Kyoya pushes his adjusts his glasses before looking to the side, pausing as he stirs his tea to think about the answer. There were a couple of reasons, really.
You had started small. Giving him sleepy teas at around 8 pm, offering him a massage or inviting him to watch a movie with you. Goading him into sleeping earlier in the night. Slowly helping him loosen his tie and removing his shirt as he typed away at his laptop, peppering kisses along his neck. He could feel you practically smirk as his typing slows, more and more typos progressively pop up on his screen before he finally shuts the laptop shut to give you his full attention.
You'd tire him out before he could open his computer again, panting heavily against him as you bounced on his lap, his hands digging into the plush of your ass as he slightly guided you back and forth. A filthy combination of your slick and his pre making a mess on his lap, the lewd sound of skin slapping echoing in his room every time you sank further on his cock.
"m' close," He whispers, gripping you harder as he moves you faster. His lips latch onto your neck, his left hand moving to circle your clit in tight circles, earning a pathetic whimper from you in return.
"Come on, pretty girl, I know you have one more in you."
"Kyo- I can't, s'too much-" Your hips stutter against his, head falling into his neck as you try catching your breath. Kyoya is unrelenting, however, quickly speeding up his work on your clit while thrusting up into you as you gasp in pleasure. The heat in your gut turning into a tight coil as you spasm around him, kissing him through the overstimulation of him thrusting into you through your orgasm.
Kyoya returns the kiss deeply, his hands now gently rubbing your sides as he cums inside of you. His thumbs circle your hips, soft lips muttering praise as you both come down from your high. You groan slightly in response, glancing to the side to see a bright green "9:51" back at you, smiling softly before turning back to him.
"You have me beat. Let's take a shower in the morning together, yeah?"
Kyoya can't help but agree as he cleans you up with a warm rag, fighting the fatigue so that he can savor the moment of you in his arms before nodding off.
You'd work your magic until he'd slowly, but surely, started waking up earlier and earlier. His mood, however, had yet to change. A snappy mumble and slight glare still ever present as you slightly shook him awake.
Mornings were a lot slower, instead of shaking him awake, you'd started to wake up slightly earlier, lightly massaging his head to ease him out of sleep before getting up to start your own routine. You brush your teeth and get dressed and cook a simple breakfast, bringing the plate back to his room before resuming his head massage, sweetly cooing at him to wake up.
"Kyoya, it's time to get up. I made you breakfast."
His brows furrow before shaking his head slightly, pulling up the covers to his chin before turning towards his pillow.
You roll your eyes, leaning down to kiss his cheek, 1, 2, 3. The smile on his face slowly grows for every smooch you pepper on his face. How could he be mad when his sweet girlfriend is waking him up so kindly?
The blanket suddenly shifts, his bare torso revealed as he gets up to kiss you back. He rubs his nose against yours affectionately as he looks you in the eye.
"I know what you're trying to do."
You don't seem to feel guilty, instead landing another kiss on his lips with a dramatic "mwah!". A teasing smile on your face. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Kyoya indulges nonetheless, and now he finds himself waking up earlier than you do. Admiring your figure in the soft morning sunlight as your chest rises and falls with your breathing. His arm lazily hands around your waist as he caresses your back, appreciating the glow that highlights the tip of your eyelashes to the cupids bow of your lips.
When you do wake up, you cling closer to Kyoya, muttering a soft "g'morning." as you kiss his shoulder, slowly trailing down his torso to his briefs. You lightly palm his bulge before affectionately leaning on it, hot breath ghosting over the fabric, making his breath hitch as he lightly grasps the sheets.
Nimble fingers yank the band of his briefs down as you kiss the tip affectionately, looking up at him as you kitten lick his shaft before taking him in your mouth.
Kyoya sighs, hand finding purchase in your hair as you bob your head along his length, slowly going up before slamming your head down. His tip bruising the back of your sensitive through as your tongue flattens against the vein on the underside of his dick.
He's whiny in the morning, you note. Slight sleepiness making him more sensitive to your touch. His breathe hitches and small moans escaping through his praise as he throws his head back in pleasure.
"Fuck, feel so good around me. Love waking up like this." His hand in your hair grips tighter as he quickens the pace, reveling in the way you gag around his length. His harsh pace was a stark contrast to his hand on your shoulder, gently rubbing your shoulder as he roughly fucks your face.
You moan around him as you play with your tits, one hand pinching your nipple as you look back up at him, his normally icy glare gazing at you with adoration. His cock twitches at the eye contact before his spills into your mouth. You take it all, swallowing before disconnecting with a small "Pop!", a string of saliva connecting from his tip to your mouth.
His breathing is heavy before he brings your face to his, gently kissing you as he catches his breath between kisses. He pays you back, gently fucking you from behind in the shower. Goosebumps scatter your skin as he presses you harshly against the cold glass, watching as the water splashes around his hips with each thrust.
One would think it's greed. His never-ending greed to have you prettily whimpering in his room every time he wakes up, face buried against the base of his cock, or when he slowly cuddle fucks you as you whine against his soft satin pillows (a purchase he made just for you). He can't help it- it's hard to resist when you look so gorgeous in the early mornings. He feels rejuvenated after seeing you breathless and panting with his cum seeping out of you, whining at the loss of feeling full.
Soon enough, you'd successfully gotten Kyoya's sleep schedule on track. A healthy balance of cardio and rest, and Kyoya had never worked so efficiently. He almost wonders how he was able to acheive so much without you there.
The specific reason was far too intimate to share- especially to someone as dramatic as Tamaki. So instead, he shrugs and takes a sip of his drink.
Helluuu I heard your requests were open and that you write for kyoya and haruhi so can you write about them (separately) and just general dating headcanons? Tenkyu <3
General dating headcanons
A/n : might be OOC, I wrote this while half asleep so forgive me if I make any mistakes or if this is OOC in any way
Kyoya
- definitely one to spoil you whenever possible and he doesn't show it off. Simply pays without you noticing
- Doesn't introduce you to his parents and for good reason. Especially if you are a boy or not meeting his parents standards
- Isn't one for affection but is probably more for acts of service and quality time.
- He doesn't mind just sitting with you while the both of you are busy doing your own things
- He doesn't get involved with much of the club activities before he got with you. Started to participate less in charming the girls who came to the host club when he got with you
- Doesn't open up fast but with a lot of patience and understanding, would probably start coming to you for comfort or to talk to you about anything that made him frustrated
- Probably tells you all of the gossip and drama happening in the host club with a nonchalant attitude despite his actions
Haruhi
- very laid back and down to earth!
- Doesn't get jealous easily and happily complies if you mention or imply that you're upset about something involving her
- Definitely open for communication and is very patient and understanding whenever you're communicating
- Acts of service and quality time like Kyoya just in a different way
- She makes any gifts to you by hand and tries (and fails) to refuse any gifts from you that was bought with money (especially if it's an expensive gift)
- Is embarrassed to introduce you to her father, was right too when her father went from protective to gushing over you when he realised you were good for her
- She doesn't flirt with the girls in the host club but makes a more concious attempt to ensure that she doesn't after getting with you
- If you're fine with it, she goes about her activities in the host club normally even if she uses you as an excuse to skip out on some activities
Covering the Famous Host Club! - at the mention of a controversial newspaper club having to disband, tamaki and the host club come to their aid to make a story! will the host club be able to help the newspaper club stay in business, or will such come at the cost of their own club?

"Welcome back," the familiar voices of the esteemed hosts echoed amongst the room.
The doors opened to show the Host Club dressed up in outfits from the Heian Era of Japanese history. They were gathered outside in the courtyard, a bright sun shining among them all with the beauty of blossoming flowers all about. Tamaki’s position for this club meeting was on a large red blanket. He lay down with another girl, resting her head on top of his chest.
"But we can't do this, Tamaki. There are so many girls who love you and if we get any closer, I'm afraid that they're all going to hate me for it," the young woman confessed. Tamaki wrapped his arms around her tighter, bringing her a bit closer to his frame.
"Princess, these beautiful hydrangeas will keep us hidden from the others; you don't need to worry," Tamaki reassured her as she blushed deeper from his actions. "For this moment, I belong to no one but you, my love. The spirits of the hydrangeas will keep our rendezvous a secret."
"Oh, Tamaki! I yearn to be with you!"
"Princess," Tamaki sat up, moving her position so that she now sat across from him.
Hikaru and Kaoru were currently playing a game of shell matching with their guests. Kaoru picked up two, trying to get them to fit, but they didn't.
"Sorry, Kaoru," the girls spoke together.
"No way! I lost again," Kaoru sighed sadly, while the girls giggled.
"Now go easy on him, princesses. Kaoru is quite the crybaby," Hikaru kindly warned them.
"Hikaru, that's not true! I am not a cry—"
"So you're going to deny it, huh? What about when the two of us are alone playing punishment games? Tell us what happens then, Kaoru." Hikaru moved closer, cupping the boy's chin while an apparent blush was all over his face.
"But that's because you—" Kaoru tried to speak but Hikaru just pushed his chin up more and dragged his fingers underneath it.
"Then what happens?! Tell me! I really wanna know!" The girls squealed.
"Wow, I never noticed the courtyard had such a lovely stream," Yuriko expressed, standing over by Kyoya and a few other ladies.
"It's called a yarimizu channel," Kyoya informed them. "It is said that during the Heian era, people would better experience the seasons by watching the petals or autumn leaves that drifted along the water. I had it specially made for all of you, hoping it would express my desire to spend all four seasons with you." Kyoya then pulled up a notebook. "So what do you say, ladies? This fall there's an autumn leaves tea party with a limited number of invitations."
"Sign me up!"
"Now watch as we work together to eat soba!" Honey and Mori were in a greatly different position, with Mori hunched behind Honey, a blanket covering his body, as only his arms peeked out. Honey's arms were underneath the blanket; both were pretending as if Mori’s arms were really connected to Honey's body. Yet it was not too successful of an experiment, as when Moris's arms went to try and move the food into Honey’s mouth, he continuously missed it, getting remnants of the food all over Honey's cheeks and falling onto his outfit.
"Oh, he's so cute!" The girls squealed.
"Here, Honey-senpai." Haruhi walked over and started wiping his face a little.
"Cuteness overload!" The girls continued to blush at the three having simple fun.
"Next the princess rushed over to save the knight; she was much stronger than she let on—" Y/n started to describe a story she read the other day to the two boys spending time with her.
"Shouldn't the knight rescue the princess?" A nearby girl piped up, taking a bite of some food on the table.
"I like your story, Y/n," a boy across from her encouraged.
"It seems awfully stupid that she can't recite a story right." Now another girl made her way over, joining the bashing the other was doing.
"Exactly, Yua," the young woman from earlier encouraged. "Who are you again?" The girl turned to look at Y/n with a disgusted expression present on her face.
“Not all stories are supposed to be the same.” Y/n faced over to them, gently placing out the book for one of them to grab. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught the glare of a certain man getting increasingly more annoyed. “If that were the case, it would be greatly boring. I can lend you mine if you both would like to expand your palettes.” Her voice was kept in a cheerful manner, keeping the men across from being ignorant of its true meaning. With little stutters, the girls ventured back over to their former hosts, the twins, ignoring the offering of such a book.
“I see it was handled,” Kyoya voiced now next to where Y/n was at. “I thought maybe an expulsion would do.”
“Maybe a re-education.” Y/n looked up, both sharing a curt smile, even if one of them was not able to be seen. “Why don’t you boys look at the book on your own?” She handed it to one of them across from her, got up, and wandered over to the expressive garden.
"Kyoya-senpai,” her voice rang out, the man dutifully allowing his attention to follow it, “have you ever heard the fairytale regarding that one princess and flow—"
"Watch out, Y/n!" Tamaki yelled, while a ball was flying towards the back of her head at incredible speed. At the warning, she quickly ducked down yet Tamaki still rushed over and jumped on her—despite it being unneeded at that point.
"Hikaru! You came this close to snuffing out the light of Y/n's life!" Tamaki arose, dirtied from the ground with a fiery anger.
"I was fine," Y/n mumbled, lying dejected on the grass.
"Hey, it's your fault for not catching the ball in the first place, boss," Hikaru told Tamaki, he and his brother walking over.
"Yeah," Kaoru agreed. "Who knew that he'd be so bad at kemari? So much for him being the 'Genji of Ouran Academy.'”
"What?!" Tamaki yelled, stomping over to the boys in a childlike rage. The arguing was quick to commence, Y/n long forgotten as Tamaki heated up. The three soon enough commenced in their routine bickering as Mori snuck through to help the girl up. "You think so? Well, check this out! Starlight Kick!" Tamaki screamed with all his might, mustering up a fast speed and kicking the ball with all his might.
"What?!"
"So fast!"
"Take care of yourself," the twins bid the ball a farewell as the ball zoomed off into the far distance.
"Really, we're terribly sorry about that," Tamaki apologized. In trying to impress the twins and kicking the ball with such power, it had smashed through the window of the newspaper club, hitting the president in the head. Honey, Haruhi, and Mori worked on cleaning up the broken glass as Tamaki spoke to the injured man, one of his club members—Ukyo Chikage—holding an ice pack to his head. The twins' attentions were upon the numerous copies of newspapers, picking up some to read curiously, while Y/n and Kyoya silently observed the scene.
"Really no big deal," the newspaper club president tried to reassure him. "Could've happened to anyone, right? Just a ball flying through a window and hitting me upside the head—"
"Please accept our apology." Tamaki bowed again, pure embarrassment shrouding his features.
The president's eyes wandered to where Y/n and Kyoya stood, his expression lighting up as if a new idea had come to mind. "Ah, Takahashi Y/n. You have been quite popular with the club, correct?" The president smiled oddly at the girl.
"I have been a part of it for some time now," she answered hesitantly.
"Is there something else?" Kyoya stepped further, garnering the attention onto him.
"Well, I was thinking this works out perfectly. I was just thinking about approaching the Host Club about a cover story. Interested?"
"I didn't know we had a Newspaper Club," Haruhi mentioned, sitting beside Honey.
"It's more gossip rag than newspaper," Hikaru explained, pulling over some of the newspapers in order to show the girl.
"Yeah, like a trashy tabloid," Kaoru added. "It's filled with stories about scandalous love affairs, family power struggles, and junk like that.”
"It’s just a lame gossip rag that specializes in stirring up scandal," Hikaru went on.
"Everyone knows it's all lies, so nobody reads it anymore," the twins stated, scrutinizing glares finding themselves upon the president.
"You know, I guess we have kind of lost sight of the truth because we've been so worried about drawing in more readers," Akira admitted. "It's a shame we're just now realizing our error, now that the paper is at risk," Tamaki gasped at his mention, viewing the saddened expression upon a fellow president's face at the possible loss. "We finally realized what we should have been reporting to the students of Ouran." He stood up, soon followed by the other two members, and then bowed. "Help us, please. For our last paper of this semester, we'd like to do an up-close special edition revealing the charms of Ouran's Host Club members. I'm begging you; without your help our club will close."
"You can count on us," Tamaki smiled. "On behalf of the Host Club I accep-"
"We have to decline," Kyoya smiled kindly, shoving Tamaki out of frame with his shoulder.
"But Kyoya! He got hurt because of me!" Tamaki exclaimed, throwing up his arms behind the man. "What's the big deal? Huh?"
"Sorry, we have a policy prohibiting us from sharing personal information with anyone other than our guests. But we'd be more than happy to pay any medical expenses related to your injury."
"And another thing, what makes you think we'd want to help you spread more rumors and gossip? We’ve got a reputation to uphold and you’d just ruin it," Kaoru scoffed.
"Besides, you guys cause a lot of trouble for other people. And who wants to get mixed up with that?" Hikaru added, shrugging his shoulders while Haruhi rolled her eyes at their statements.
"I understand." Akira sat down in defeat. "Well, I guess you really can't erase the sins of the past, can you? People won't even give you the opportunity to try and redeem yourself." He squeezed the handles of the chair before a large wail erupted from him. "Oh! My head is killing me!"
"President!" The other members quickly gathered at his sides.
"President!" they repeated, arms reaching for the man's side in concern.
“I guess all we can do at this point is disband with grace.”
"No! You don't have to. You can always make a fresh start," Tamaki tried to encourage them, deeply moved by their emotions (ones that seemingly disappeared once Tamaki spoke). "We'll help. We will rally the power of our Host Club and we can reestablish the Newspaper Club together!"
"Well, count us out," the twins were quick to mention, Tamaki looking now as if he were stabbed in the heart.
"You're way too trusting, boss,” Hikaru critiqued, he and his brother taking Haruhi in their hold and heading towards the door. "We can't just go along with everything you do forever."
"Yeah, we've had enough," Kaoru agreed.
"We're leaving too, Tamaki," Kyoya spoke up, turning towards the door with Y/n, Mori, and Honey all following him. "We're holding an evaluation meeting, mostly about you."
"Hold it!" Tamaki spoke up seriously, the Host Club members stopping in their tracks. "How can you be so heartless? These men are about to lose their club. Don't you feel sorry for them? Their family is breaking up!" Tamaki turned around to face the rest of the club, tears in his eyes, while the other club acted sad. "As your president, I demand you help them! And that is a direct order!"
Y/n looked back at Tamaki’s emotional expression. Something that was very admirable about the host was the empathy and emotion he would share with others, yet that was not working for most of them. "We're not going to do it," Kyoya and the twins deadpanned, Kyoya now pulling Y/n’s wrist to follow as they all exited.
Back in Music Room 3, Tamaki was playing with a ball all alone. He used his pointer finger to roll it back and forth, isolated away from the other members. Kyoya, Haruhi, the twins, and Y/n just stared over at the president, who was acting depressed at the moment.
"Well, he's obviously upset with us," Hikaru noted.
"Yeah, he hasn't even changed clothes," Kaoru added.
"I hate it when he ignores us when we're right in front of him. He's such a child," Kyoya mentioned.
"Nah," Honey disagreed. "Tama-chan's just a lonely guy, you know?"
"A club is like a family," Tamaki whispered. "Their family's about to be broken up. I feel sorry for them."
"I hate to give in, but would it really be that bad to help out with their newspaper?" Haruhi wondered, turning to look at Y/n and Kyoya.
"Hey, since when are you taking his side?" Hikaru questioned.
"Since never. Just listen, okay? I know any moment now he's going to look over here with those puppy-dog eyes he uses when he wants something and none of us will be able to say no and so he'll win."
"Let me guess, you're speaking from experience, aren't you?" The twins chimed in.
"Well, he does pull it often," Y/n observed, hiding her smile from the mention of his childlike actions.
"Besides, maybe I'm wrong, but isn't this the kind of thing you guys usually go for?" Haruhi inquired.
"Well, no," the twins spoke. "This seems like more trouble than it's worth."
"What about you, Honey-senpai?"
"Count me out. I have this cake to eat, and Takashi sticks with me, right?" Honey answered, while Mori grunted in agreement.
The five stood, watching Tamaki peer over with his iconic puppy dog eyes. "Those are the eyes," Haruhi sighed, knowing she was going to give in.
"Puppy dog eyes," the twins added, now moving away to not fall in the trap. He looked over once again, staring right at Y/n.
"Ah, Tamaki," she sighed, lightly slapping her face while he let out a little whine. "I just—I just don't know." He did the look again, and she gave him a look of defeat, turning to Kyoya.
"There will be some conditions," he told Tamaki, sharing a look of concern with Y/n. Tamaki propped up excitedly, a little bark exiting his lips. "The outline for their article will be submitted by us. Interviews are strictly prohibited. And it is vital that our client's identities be kept confidential. Do we agree?"
Kyoya was one who knew the hidden attitudes that different people or groups worked to hide, but he also knew the good-hearted and determined nature of his friend. Therefore, with a sigh he began to write and turned towards the others for their vocal confirmation.
"Well, if you think it's cool, Kyoya-senpai, then we do too." The twins nodded in agreement.
"I'll do it since Kyo-chan says it's okay," Honey spoke up, munching on his cake.
"You know what you are doing, Kyoya-senpai," Y/n voiced, turning towards him. "So, you have my vote." She nudged his shoulder and he looked down a little, smiling the tiniest bit.
"That's the shadow king for you," Haruhi muttered.
"Though, there is one more thing I must do before we begin. Y/n, I would like to speak to you for a moment," Kyoya spoke, taking her arm softly and dragging her away.
"Of course!" The president of the Newspaper Club beamed. "If you allow us to cover you, we promise to observe your conditions."
"Well then, you may start tomorrow," Kyoya informed them.
"Excellent!"
"Is your bump feeling better?" Y/n inquired on Kyoya's side.
"Oh, that? Don't you worry, pretty lady; it's no big deal. I hardly feel it anymore," he reassured her. "I owe a lot to this bump, because without it, we'd never have come together for this article."
"That's true, but we're still very sorry it happened. I brought you a little something, as an apology of sorts," Kyoya told them, opening up the first aid kit.
"Thank you, I appreciate it. I really appreciate getting to truly meet you all too." The president's eyes stayed a little too long on the two ahead.
"No problem," Kyoya quickly said. "Please excuse us." He grabbed Y/n's hand this time, turning around to leave.
"Oh, it just dawned on me," Akira said, causing the two to stop in their tracks at his comment. "Your family runs the Ootori Group, right? They manufacture medical equipment, don't they?"
"We mostly deal with hospital management," Kyoya explained, gripping Y/n's hand a little tighter, which made her look up in confusion.
"And Y/n, the Takahashis work in the technological field; did you assist in such a high-quality kit?" There was an eerie pause, a new feeling being cast over the room. “I'm so glad that we'll be working together. My father is a president too, of the Komatsuzawa Publishing firm."
"Yes, I'm well aware of that. So being president of the Newspaper Club is your way of preparing to take over the family company?"
"Well yes, to an extent, but I have a younger brother. He's a bright young man; my father is very proud of him, you see. So now my father has decided to turn future management of the company over to my younger brother, thereby passing over me, the eldest son, the firstborn," he expressed, clenching his fists. "However, if I'm able to finish my third year at Ouran Academy as the president of a successful Newspaper Club, I think he may reconsider my candidacy as his successor."
"Well," Y/n whispered to herself, taking a breath to gather herself. “We wish you good luck.”
"Well, I hope you understand, I cannot allow this club to fall apart, no matter what. Luck or not."
"Please excuse us." They finally stepped out the door, looking confusingly at each other.
"The Daruma doll fell over!" Tamaki yelled, quickly turning around to try and catch the rest of the Host Club while they were walking.
Their club was currently outside, indulging in some fun games. Yet for these activities the Host Club also had the newspaper club observing and taking pictures for their club.
"The Daruma doll fell ovvv-er!" He continued to repeat it a few times, trying to catch his friends in the act of moving. "I saw you move, Hikaru and Kaoru!" He claimed, shaking his hand at the twins.
"President, what on earth are we witnessing?" A member of the fellow club asked.
"Could it be some kind of new religion?" The other member wondered.
"Why are you asking me? How the hell should I know!"
"I can tell you!" Y/n wandered over with excitement. "It's a type of commoners' game; it doesn't require any money and can be quite enjoyable." The woman shared with the men that it was known, similar to Tamaki, she had a soft spot for learning and indulging in different commoner activities. Since she had lived a more isolated life up until meeting the host club, there were all new excitements to learn and different facts about her friends that she found most enjoyable.
"There is a wide variety of them too; all you need are friends to play with," Tamaki added, popping up to Y/n, his hands out and eyes sparkling.
"And what does this have to do with our coverage of the Host Club?" The Newspaper Club president asked, agitated.
"You need to learn friendliness!" Tamaki pointed his finger at him, his emotions doing a one-eighty. "Y/n has even gotten better."
"Hey!" the girl scowled.
"If you want to clear the negative reputation of the Newspaper Club and attempt to capture the hearts of your readers, you must try to be more down-to-earth! I can just imagine the headlines now: 'The Handsome Boys and Girl of the Host Club Enjoy Commoners' Games!' With pictures of us frolicking in the scenery of early summer. It would be the perfect facelift for your front page! And it gives you the chance to show a certain commoner is happier now, reliving his childhood with us! "Tamaki finished, feeling proud of his vision of the newspaper and glancing over excitedly to Haruhi.
"But president," one of the boys muttered. "I don't think I understand what he's saying."
"Are you sure that this guy isn't just a complete idiot?" The other member chimed in.
"Don't let your guard down just yet. This is all part of his strategy; we need to learn more about Y/n and Tamaki." The president told them, his eyes falling upon Haruhi. "The commoner in question is perfect."
"Why can't this be over?" Haruhi complained.
"You're Fujioka, right?" The president walked up, with his notebook and pen ready. "You wouldn't mind if I asked you a few questions, would you?"
"Um, sure."
"So, why did you join the host club?"
"Well, um, honestly I joined because I was forced to."
"You're also an honor student here on a scholarship, correct?"
"Um, yeah, I am."
"So, in other words, the fact that you’re a member of this club is just another example of how the Suou family likes to flaunt their power?"
"Say what?" Haruhi gawked at him.
"Now if you would, please tell me some details about Tamaki's dark side." He moved closer to her face, looking her straight in the eyes. "If you can help me out here, I just might be able to set you free."
"Sorry but as far as I can tell, he doesn't have a dark side."
"That can't be right," he scoffed. "You expect me to believe a group of high schoolers actually enjoys playing these childish games?"
"I don't think it's that weird," Haruhi told him, Y/n walking over.
"Haruhi, are you going to join us? Tamaki-senpai wants all of us to play, and if you aren't, then I'm out," Y/n interrupted, grabbing her hand and dragging her towards the other members.
"Now we're playing kankeri!" Tamaki announced. There was a soda can on the grass, a prop used for their next activity. “And you're 'it,' okay, Kyoya?"
"If I must," the man in question sighed, pushing up his glasses.
"Starlight Kick!" Tamaki yelled, kicking the can once again with a professional football player's strength, leaving it to zoom off into the distance, nearly hitting the newspaper club's president once again.
"If you honestly think I'm going to fall for the same trick again," the Host Club members started running off, not to be caught by Kyoya. But the Newspaper Club president just kept speaking. "You've got another thing comi—" He was cut short by the can hitting the tree and being sent back, hitting the back of his head.
"President!"
"Damn it!" The hurt male got up, his 'friends' helping him stand. "You'll pay for this, Suou Tamaki."
Tamaki grabbed Y/n's hand, starting to guide her as they ran off into the garden.
"Come on, Y/n!" He encouraged her, picking up his pace with an energetic and thrilled look on his features; it seemed he was truly enjoying life.
"Tamaki-senpai, wait, we need Haruhi." The girl waved her hands frantically to the other one, gesturing her to come and join the two in their hiding.
It was not long until Tamaki’s rushed running into the maze and lack of knowledge on where he was really going led them to an unfamiliar area.
“Did you get us lost, senpai?” Haruhi queried, an annoyed expression now on her features as Y/n tried to look around for any identifiable clues. “We are lost, aren’t we?” The girl looked over at Y/n.
“Look, Haruhi, Y/n, I found a great hiding place over here!” Tamaki called out from some distance ahead, motioning towards an entrance to a stone gazebo, vines filled with roses all about it.
“So, we are stranded until somebody finds us,” Haruhi observed, sitting beside Y/n, her in the middle. “Great. It is a good thing you made Kyoya-senpai ‘it’”
“It is not so bad.” Y/n leaned her head upon Haruhi’s shoulder. “It is a nice day and this place is really beautiful.”
“It is nice,” Haruhi softly agreed, “but, you know, I never thought I’d be playing these silly games again once I got into high school.”
“Don’t you think this is fun?” Tamaki wondered, leaning his head to now fall upon Y/n’s shoulder as the two watched Haruhi in her thoughts, reminiscing on her past.
“I guess. But I haven’t played any of this stuff since I was an elementary student.”
“Yeah, I see.” He sat up, Y/n following suit. “It is new to us, though.” The boy looked over at Y/n with a tender smile. “When I was growing up, I never really had any friends that were my age. My mother would get sick very easily. I was always worried about her so I didn’t go out and play much. Instead I would do my best to cheer her up. I’d always sit beside her and play the piano.”
“It was important for my father that I stayed inside; I had a similar experience where I did not have many friends. My brother was always off with a different independence than I was ever awarded,” Y/n shared. “I think that is why now, especially Tamaki and I, really enjoy these silly games.”
“It’s a lot of fun,” Tamaki agreed, smiling largely at the two. “We should do this again sometime.”
“I think so too,” Haruhi nodded.
"I'm writing the article." The Newspaper Club members rushed after a fuming president, the plan already set in place despite possible consequences.
"But wait, Mr. President," his member Ukyo tried to stop him.
"It's too dangerous to write gossip about the Suou!" The other member, Sakyo, reminded him. "You don't have any evidence, sir!"
"Who needs evidence?" The president bit his thumb nervously. "All I have to do is expose him and everyone will see it! If I set my mind to it, I can imagine any number of articles that would cause a commotion among the idiots at this academy." Now landing outside of their club room. "I'm going to expose Tamaki for the twit he is." He pushed open the door.
The twins were situated on top of a desk, sitting beside each other, having heard the newspaper president's declaration.
"Hm," Hikaru hummed.
"So, we were right all along," Kaoru observed.
"You two," the president muttered in disgust.
"Well, I guess it was pretty obvious," Hikaru realized.
"The boss is the only one who hasn't caught on yet," Kaoru added. "He must be really dense when it pertains to anything about himself."
"I should warn you, if you threaten him, there will be consequences," Hikaru notified them.
"Are you ready to have the Hitachins and every other club member's family as your enemy?"
"I knew it! You're nothing but lackeys!" the president claimed, pointing his finger at them. "Tamaki's holding his parents' power over all of you.”
"That's not true," Honey commented from behind him, hugging Usa-chan. "We don't hang out with Tama-chan because of his parents. We love him; we all like being with him. That's why we choose to be here."
"He may be a hopeless idiot, but even so," Kyoya spoke up from a different desk. Now all of them were thinking back on how they got invited to join the group.
"I'll get you all! It's not just about him anymore. I'll write an article that will ruin all of you!" The president of the Newspaper Club yelled, rushing to his desk.
"Go ahead, be my guest," Kyoya encouraged. "Although," he picked up the medical kit he gave earlier, tapping the bottom and pulling out a disk. "What do you think we should do about this little disk? You see, it's been here since yesterday. And it recorded everything," Kyoya finished.
"President! Just give up already!" One of the members pleaded to him, the president in question dropping to his knees as Kyoya walked closer to him.
"Let me explain it to you in terms you can understand. You would do well to remember that the Otori Group and the Hitachiin family alone own enough stock to remove your father from his position as president of the Komatsuzawa Publishing Firm. However, we would never do something like that; we are not like you. What we strive for is fundamentally different."
"I found you," Kyoya spoke, the whole Host Club beside him as they peered at the three.
"What happened with the Newspaper Club?" Tamaki asked while they started walking out of the maze.
"They had to cancel; something came up," the twins told him.
"Do you think they might start working with more respectable articles now?” Y/n winked over at Kyoya, remembering the earlier plan.
“I believe that is exactly what they will be choosing,” Kyoya confirmed, a knowing grin growing on his lips.
“Maybe they’ll get by without having to shut down,” the twins observed.
"Oh really? That's good news,” Tamaki smiled.
"Let's hurry back to the club room and eat some cake!" Honey beamed on top of Mori's shoulders.
"That does sound good!" Tamaki agreed. "Cake! Cake!" He cheered alongside the boy.
"Kyoya-senpai, I was wondering, is the Suou family really that big of a deal around here, and the Takahashis?"
"Well, the foundation of the Suou family business lies in corporate finance, but they do have some extensive real estate as well. The Takahashi's are mostly known for working in the electronic field, making different devices and technology for Japan and all around the world. The Suous also dabble in school management."
"I didn't know that. What school?" Haruhi queried.
"Why Ouran Academy? You've been here long enough that you should at least know what the chairman of the school board's name is. You know, if you think about it, you're able to attend school here because of the financial aid you receive from Tamaki's family." Kyoya explained to her.
"Oh,"
"The Takahashis—most of your appliances are probably from them; they make products geared towards all classes, some more affordable for commoners and others aimed towards the elites. They provide different materials to the students in need as well. You should be grateful to them both."
"Haruhi!" Y/n called to her, standing beside Tamaki. "Are you coming? I still have to tell you what happens next in chapter thirty-four."
“You have to hurry up or we are going to leave you!” Tamaki chimed in.
"Coming!"
"Hate for you to be out here, lost again, calling out for me like a damsel in distress," Y/n joked, nudging Haruhi's shoulder. "That could be fun actually."
"Huh?"

an: i am sorry this took foreverrrr, also- i have been reciveing some criticism, which is okay (actually in one I learned something so thank you) but I would like to respond to one in particular. someone said y/n is more like an oc, and maybe that is true. to write fanfiction that is to fully represent everyone is impossible, of course I will not be able to truly portray you bevause you are you! i do not know your quirks and interests. i try to generalize most, but obviously to write someone like a love interest you have to try for a personality. the main thing i try is not to not be too discriptive about physical features! take that as you will and thank you for reading <3
Never seen anyone include Renge so, but can you tell who my favorite is?
Haruhi
Haruhi would completely understand where you’re coming from, as she grew up in a similar situation. She’d gently remind you that there’s no shame in needing help and would probably offer compromises, like splitting the cost or cooking meals together. She’d want you to feel comfortable without making a big fuss.
“I get why you feel that way, but there’s nothing wrong with asking for help. Besides, it’s just food—it’s not like I’m expecting you to pay me back with interest or anything.”
Tamaki
Tamaki would be heartbroken at the idea of you feeling self-conscious about money. He’d dramatically proclaim that he wants to take care of you and insists that you shouldn’t hesitate to ask. Expect a lot of heartfelt speeches about how your happiness matters more to him than money. He’d also make a point of showing you how much he enjoys "commoner" meals to make you feel less out of place.
“Mon amour, your happiness is priceless! Let me treat you—it’s the least I can do for the person who has captured my heart!”
Kyoya
Kyoya would handle it more pragmatically. He’d notice your hesitations before you even voiced them and would discreetly handle expenses without making a big deal out of it. He might casually say something like, “I was planning to cover it anyway,” to ease your worries.
“You worrying about this is a waste of time. Let me handle it—money isn’t something you need to concern yourself with around me.”
Honey
Honey would immediately insist on treating you, probably while hugging you tightly and offering you cake. He’d say something like, “You’re so silly! Of course I’ll pay for it!” He’d never let you feel guilty about it and would focus on making you smile instead.
“As long as I get to see you smile, that’s all that matters! Now, how about some dessert?”
Mori
Mori wouldn’t say much, but his actions would speak volumes. If he noticed you hesitating, he’d simply take care of the bill without a word and maybe give you a comforting pat on the head or a small smile to reassure you.
“It’s okay. Don’t worry about it.”
Hikaru
Hikaru might initially struggle to understand why you’re self-conscious, as he’s used to a world where money is never an issue. He’d probably tease you at first, saying something like, “Why are you being so dramatic about something so small?” But when he realized your feelings were genuine, he’d become protective.
“You’re with me now, so stop worrying about stuff like this. Just let me take care of it, okay?”
Kaoru
Kaoru would be more intuitive and empathetic than Hikaru about your self-consciousness. He’d notice your hesitation immediately and gently address it, saying something like, “You know it’s okay to ask for help, right? It doesn’t bother me.”
“You don’t have to carry this on your own. I want to help you, not because I have to, but because I care about you.”
Renge
Renge would be over-the-top about wanting to help. She’d dramatically declare that it’s her duty to make sure you’re cared for and would probably come up with elaborate plans to spoil you.
“As your devoted partner, it’s my responsibility to take care of everything! Leave it to me, darling!”
Two posts in a month!?!? I believe that’s a new record for me! (Not really).
