Valentine Encounter by Kyra4
They got together in the 7th year, broke up on the graduation day, met several times after that, then the final battle began, and things got really nasty before magic took over. I would prefer if they suffer longer because of their decisions to make the angst deeper (yes sometimes I'm against happiness). I don't know if it's true, but I feel this story has a fairy tale taste in it. Not too cruel, not too realistic, this everything-will-work-out-because-people-are-simple feeling. It definitely relaxed me a bit while reading, 'cause I'm not a big fan of getting my heart broken again and again, damn it.
He's gentle! This is a gentle Draco people! I sort of like gentle Draco. He even called her babe and sweetheart. Awwww. Okay that was in a rare situation, but I melt because of it. Maybe I like it so much exactly because it's rare. However, he defends his death-eater-belief by saying it's just a cause he believes in just like the Order of Pheonix. Well, first, I seriously doubt he truly believes in his cause; second, that's not just a cause. Well, technically it is a cause, but to phrase it that way simplified the problem here, and took the moral aspect out of the question. Hermione's comeback was "Mine is right!" Well, you can do better than that. I actually expected to see a deeper argument towards this issue.
A bit of weak... yes, that, again. She's not very weak, after all. She participated in the final battle against Harry's wish. Sadly, there's not much more to show her steel determination and braveness other than that. Personally I find it hard to believe that Hermione Granger would date Draco Malfoy when he thinks pureblood dominating "is just a cause like others". A bit of out of character. Usually I don't use OOC as a negative thing if the direction of this OOC can make the characters more likeable or interesting. I can't say that here.
It didn't make me wanna stop after one paragraph or two. It made me want to continue and continue and finish it. It's not easy, let me tell you. I've been very impatient lately, with the big exam and PMS, etc. You can count on it for a great story, though not first-class.
I have some doubts regarding to "will he/she actually do that?" Otherwise it was convincing, sweet, and sometimes heartbreaking. I want a boyfriend like Draco, hell. Well, I'd prefer my current one, but one like Draco will be good, girls. I mean the caring and prince charming part. Let's leave the "cause" aside temporarily.
Some plots are... too simple to be realistic, if you think about it. Hermione knew that Draco had been trained as a Death Eater but remained silent, letting him function as Head Boy until graduation? Not... really... reasonable. The list goes on.
