I'm a sucker for endings so you got anything good for the Diner being shut down?
I hummed as William and Henry brought me aside.
There's a certain awe that wracks one's mind as they're pulled aside by their bosses. The fear courses through the system first, then adrenaline as you attempt to figure out what they're gonna say.
The two of them glanced between themselves, before William walked away, leaving Henry to give me whatever news there was.
He scratched at his beard, sighing.
"Dylin, the business has to be shut down. So, we have to let ya go. Someone bought out the business, so if we do open back up, it'll be under a different name." My heart froze and I looked over at the suits. I looked back at Henry.
"You remember when Charlie... got... y'know? Business has been slowing down cause no one wants a murdered child." I'd noticed the lack of business and I knew about Charlie, but somehow never put two and two together.
"Oh. So..." I bit my lip, not keen on leaving the business.
"I'm sure you can be hired back on when the new owners open up." I nodded.
"Thank you, Henry, for the opportunity. It was a pleasure working for you." He nodded.
"It was a pleasure working with you, Dylin." I nodded, walking to the suits and waving goodbye before walking out.
