Good Omens isn't gay but it's LGBTQ+
I saw someone on Twitter say the following "Good Omens is a gay love story between two men. Neil Gaiman is making a mockery of himself encouraging Genderfluid/Non-binary people and the idea that Aromatic or Asexual people belong in the LGBT community. Further more he's making people believe that there is a difference between pansexual and bisexual. He needs to stop this and let the gay men have their representation!"
Okay, first of all this made me angry for many reasons but I'm gonna reframe from getting angry at said person in their replies and instead make this post here. Neil Gaiman has stated on multiple occasions that Angels and Demons are sexless beings and therefore are not gay men. But that it is indeed a love story and they are very much in love. He's stated that he doesn't see why they couldn't be Aromatic or Asexual and has encouraged Genderfluid and Non-binary pride art.
Genderfluid and Non-binary people are finally getting some form of representation in a popular show. The fact people want to take that from us is aggravating to no end. Asexual and Aromatic people can relate to the main characters for once and yet people want to push gay on them and erase the representation of ace people. While I could yell and scream for them to change their minds and allow us the chance to feel represented it's only going to feed into their trap of hate.
I've also seen pansexual and bisexual people say they can relate to characters. That the four horsepeople make them feel represented. Neil Gaiman aimed to represent these things through casting and he succeeded so well it angered those who refuse to accept us as part of the LGBTQ+ community. But he refuses to feed them with a simple "Yeah they're gay and in love" Because he knows it's not the right thing.
Furthermore Aziraphale is not a typical skinny person and it brought representation to those who aren't skinny. There's a sense of belonging to read fanfic were a non skinny character is being body worshiped or seeing fanart were their body has stretch marks and they're still seen as beautiful to others. So yeah in a simple summary: Fuck people who think Neil Gaiman was queerbaiting us with Good Omens because it is in fact a love story but just not a solely gay one because other sexualities and gender identities exist so fuck you very much for trying to take our representation away.
