LILY EVANS • TWENTY-THREE • FC: LAURA BERLIN
BACKSTORY:
Lily Abigail Evans was born on 30th January. Her parents, Duke and Elizabeth Evans a pair of lovely tax accountant and kindergarten teacher resides in the heart of the city. They lived a normal life with a pair of daughter that’s growing up rather well. Lily was eighteen when the first glimpse of the outbreak comes to the surface. It’s her older sister, Petunia who’s become one of the earliest victims of the Tom Riddle’s death toll. It’s unknown by anyone that the cause of her death is the Plague’s doings, since there were none of its trace or in fact no one had aware of what’s really going on. It’s only makes her death seems normal. At first no one was suspicious, including to Lily herself. She barely remembers how she felt about her sister’s death, aside from crying for days after that happened. She had lost her sister, her friend; but strangely, she feels numb inside.
But when the bigger picture coming to her view, everything will never be the same. This is not the world that she used to know. They were running away, left anything behind. They left their home, their past, their identity; knowing nothing but to maintain their survival. But, no matter how far they run; the virus seems more like shadows that keep following them. There’s the time where she’s afraid that the virus might not only affect their body but also their mind. She’s afraid they will never make it. One day, they stumble into a group who’s in search of safe house. They told them about the shelter and the undergrounders.
Her days ahead was no better. The safe haven seems more like a fantasy– a false hope– the more they try to look for it. One by one a member from the group showed the symptoms and they immediately know about what happened next. Then her worst nightmare happens. They were in the suburban area when her father showed a symptom and unable to continue his journey. Eventually, he died during the night. Her mother was there on his death bed and devastated by the fact that the virus had taken her family twice. The first was Petunia and now him. Unable to cope with his death, she’s unaware of her worsen condition and died days later.
That leaves Lily on her own. She feels lost, scattered, and lonely at the same time. The group was moving right away, leaving both her parents behind. They won’t let her meet them even to tell her goodbye, since there’s a chance they can catch the virus. She keeps walking, once again leaving anything behind. She remembers spending the whole night in her bed, crying her tears out before fall to a deep sleep.
Days turned into weeks. Weeks turned into months. Months turned to years. There’s only a few of them left who managed to survive and able to continue their journey. It’s then, when their group was discovered by the protectors and brought to the facilities. After a month of quarantine, she was released. They told her that she’s ready to join the community and start live her new life here in the shelter. She is ready.
Or, at least that’s what she thinks.
