i love it when my uncle and aunt come over and bring my cousins, one of who is (i think) 7 or 8 and probably has some kind of ADHD idk i'm not a psychologist, and parents throw me at her as some sort of sacrifice while "the adults talk". well. jokes on them! i'm taking this kid outside and we're playing a game called throwing wet sand at each other! good luck cleaning her clothes later!
petty revenge aside, i get to try my hand at explaining my undergrad soil mechanics homework in a way a young child can maybe understand and it's great! children can be very good listeners and they pick things up very quickly if you can grab their attention
"see how you can make a lump with wet sand but not with dry sand? that's because the water inside it acts like a glue, making the grains stick to one another"
"like when you lick you finger to flip a page?"
"yeah, kinda like when you lick your finger to flip a page :)"
