Summary: Newt, Leta, and Tina are kidnapped by some of Grindelwald’s followers and thrown into a jail cell, to be executed at dawn. It’s up to Newt to keep the girls from losing total hope.
“Let me go!”
“Get your hands off me!”
The guards threw the three rather unceremoniously into the cell. Leta was instantly on her feet, Tina right behind her, but it was too late. They slammed the bars shut, waved their wands, and said, “We shall collect you at dawn.” Then they were gone.
Leta gave a furious scream and kicked at the bars, but it was no use. Tina collapsed onto her heels, rocking back and forth while Newt pulled himself into a corner, nursing a gash on his shin.
“This is ridiculous!” Leta cried, grasping the bars and pressing her face between them, shouting, “I’m on your side!”
Tina growled, “Stuff it, Lestrange. You’ve been caught with us -- helping us. You’re as good as dead.”
Leta glared at Tina over her shoulder, still gripping the bars. “Not likely, Goldstein. You two, maybe, but I made my choice long ago.” She began to shake the bars with each word. “I will -- get out -- of -- this -- alive!”
She struck the bars, and a bolt of magic hit her, knocking her back. She landed in a pile of robes on the ground, lifting her head, breathing heavily.
“Please, calm down,” Newt groaned. “Both of you. We need to think of a way to get word to Albus.”
“And Jacob and Queenie,” Tina added fiercely.
“And Jacob and Queenie,” nodded Newt.
Leta was back on her feet, pacing back and forth, her arms folded. Tina and Newt shared a look that quickly turned gentle and fond, full of emotion that they dared not speak out loud. She shuffled closer, landing on her knees and pulling back his trouser leg to examine the wound.
Leta watched their tender looks and gentle sighs as long as she could stand it. Finally she sneered, “You two just don’t get it, do you?”
Newt closed his eyes, blinking slowly. He took a deep breath before looking up at her. “Spit it out, Leta.”
“You are as good as dead. I chose Grindelwald because I want to live. I don’t agree with him -- not at all -- but I’m not foolish and noble. I won’t risk my neck for those stupid muggles like you. I’m not a hero, I never was, Newt.”
Leta suddenly looked confused, as though she’d said something she hadn’t meant to. She glanced at Newt quickly before looking away.
“You need to have hope, Leta,” Newt said gently. “Our friends, they will come and rescue us, and you. They’ll save all of us.”
Leta stared at him hard before breaking into a weak smile. Her voice shook as she managed, “Do you really think we’re worth saving?”
Newt seemed startled. He glanced at Tina, and Leta looked away bitterly. When she returned to them, they were holding hands. Newt looked back at Leta, and Tina did the same.
Soooo, what if Tina and Queenie both played Quidditch when they were in Ilvermorny. They probably had to fight against each other at some point and yeah could you please write something where it's Thunderbird vs Pukwudgie and Queenie scores a goal and Tina smiles and is happy for her and right after that Queenie gets hit by a bludger and falls from her broom. And Tina is just completely scared for her sister and cries and stuff ???
thank you for this prompt! i hope i do it justice :) also, fun fact i learned, apparently the popular united states wizarding sport isn’t quidditch, it’s quodpot??
Title: The Beater
Summary: pretty much exactly what is says above.
“And it’s Goldstein with the quaffle – that’s Thunderbird’s Goldstein, Porpentina, with the quaffle – she passes to Miller, Miller with the quaffle, Miller passes to Robinson – oooh, but Pukwudgie’s Goldstein, Queenie, intercepts, now Queenie is racing down the pitch–”
“I’m gonna get you for that, Queenie!” Tina laughed, zooming beside Queenie, trying to grab the quaffle.
“No you won’t!” Queenie retorted, arcing high over Tina to dodge.
“And the Goldsteins seem to have engaged in some banter, instead of Porpentina stealing the quaffle for Thunderbird.”
“Screw you, Hernandez!” Tina cackled as she flew past the commentator’s podium where Andrew Hernandez stood.
“Whatever, Goldstein,” he went on before turning back to the match. “And there goes Queenie, she’s in the scoring zone, she has the quaffle, will Young be able to block–”
The entire Thunderbird side of the pitch groaned in unison. Queenie giggled and blew a kiss at Young as she looped the hoops.
Despite the fact that it meant Tina’s team was down by ten points, Tina couldn’t help but pump her fist in celebration when Queenie rode past her, beaming, and said, “Thanks, Teenie!”
“Goldstein! Remember what team you’re on, maybe!” snapped Jonathan Campbell, the Thunderbird team captain.
“Yes, sir, sorry captain!” Tina said teasingly, saluting him.
“And it’s Thunderbird’s Miller with the quaffle now, Miller is – oh, ouch!”
The whole crowd, Pukwudgie and Thunderbird supporters alike, cried out. Tina spun around, alarmed, just in time to see Queenie plummet from her broom, her eyes shut. A Pukwudgie beater, Phillip Turner, went soaring past, trying to hit the bludger that had knocked Queenie off her broom.
Tina spun, blinded by tears and rage, to face Felix Collins, who had dropped his beater bat in shock, his hands over his mouth. Tina soared at him as several players and Professor Caulston streaked to Queenie’s rescue.
“Felix!” Tina screamed, ramming into him. He kept a grip and crawled back onto his broom. She spun to stare at him. “Felix, what did you do!?”
“I-I’m sorry, Tina! It was in accident!”
“An accident!? You knocked my baby sister off her broom, she could be hurt!”
“I know, and I’m so, so sorry!”
“And Pukwudgie brings on their spare chaser, Alan Green, and Professor Caulston has signaled for play to continue.”
Felix flew a bit closer, ignoring the order to continue play. “Tina… what can I do?”
“Go away,” she growled, not looking at him.
He shot her one last concerned look before realizing that it was for the best. “I promise I’ll visit her right after the game!” Then he was gone.
Tina shook with tears as she watched Madam Foulkin magically carry Queenie off on a stretcher. She could have sat there the whole time, filled with panic for her sister, except suddenly Jonathan was there.
“Tina, I know you’re upset, I know you’re scared, but you’re my best chaser.” He sounded close to tears. “I need you back in the game, right now.”
“Y-yeah, of course,” mumbled Tina, and she followed Jonathan, and suddenly was in the thick of things.
Soon enough, their seeker had found the snitch, and Thunderbird had won, because Queenie’s replacement was absolute crap. Almost before it had been announced, Tina was off her broom and running towards the castle and the hospital wing.
To her shock, she wasn’t first. As she entered, Felix jumped in alarm, in the act of placing flowers in a vase by an unconscious Queenie’s bed.
“Felix?” she breathed.
“I – uh, bye, Tina,” he mumbled, brushing past her and out of the wing. She watched him go before dashing to Queenie’s bedside. Her blonde sister cracked one eye open. “Is he gone?”
Tina couldn’t help but laugh as she began to cry again.
“I listened to the end of the match,” Queenie grinned. “Alan’s shit, huh? Good thing he’s adorable.”
Tina laughed again, looking at the flowers. “Well, apparently Felix is sweet on you.”
“You’ve gotta be joking, Teen!” Queenie cried.
“What?” Tina asked, genuinely confused.
“It’s obvious he’s not sweet on me, he’s sweet on you. He’s nice to me and caring because he wants to impress you. He knows how fixated on me you are. And to be honest, it would do you some good to hook up with him and stop babying me all the time – not that I don’t love it.”
“Queenie!” gasped Tina. “I- I’m fifteen!”
“So?” scoffed Queenie. “I’m thirteen, and Eloise in my year has been with loads of guys.”
“Queenie, enough,” sighed Tina, leaning forward and kissing her forehead. “You’re okay, right? That was a hard blow.”
“Just a broken hip,” sighed Queenie. “I’m trapped here forever….”
“Oh, nonsense, you’re fine,” Tina teased. “I have to go change before Madam Foulkin has my head for tracking mud in here. I’ll be back soon.”
“Bring Felix with you!” Queenie called after her, and Tina rolled her eyes, happy her sister was back to normal.
Hello could you do tina & queenie for number 12? But like without a bad ending? I'm so sorry my english is so bad, hope you have a nice day
“Just leave me alone!”
I think your English is perfect! Thank you for the request!
Title: The Tickle Monster
Summary: After a rough day at work, Queenie helps cheer up Tina. Fluffy.
“Home.”
Queenie poked her head out of the bedroom, excited to see her sister, but concerned upon noticing Tina’s exhaustion.
“Teenie, what is it?”
Tina shot Queenie a look, signalling she didn’t want to talk. Queenie frowned, skipping over to her sister’s side and putting on a huge smile, trying to cheer her up. “What do you want for dinner, Teenie? I was planning on making latkes, they’re your favoriteee….”
Tina sighed, shrugging off Queenie and collapsing onto the couch, removing her shoes. Queenie pouted, folding her arms, before a smile slowly spread across her face.
Tina looked up, meeting Queenie’s gaze. “Queenie, no–”
Queenie gave a high pitched giggle and jumped onto the couch, crawling on top of Tina and tickling her. Tina attempted to keep the smile off her face but found herself laughing before pushing Queenie off and running into the bedroom.
Queenie let loose a delighted laugh and gave chase.
“No!” Tina cried, attempting to burrow herself into her bed. “Noooo, Queenie!”
Despite Tina’s protests, there was a smile on her face as she wrapped her sheets around her head, looking up at her younger sister.
“I’m gonna get you!” Queenie shrieked, remembering playing this game with Tina when they were little. “I’m the angry, vicious, tickle monster!”
“Nooooo!” wailed Tina, giggling. “Not the tickle monster!”
“Too late!” growled Queenie playfully. “Your doom is sealed!”
And with that she fell upon Tina, tickling her ribcage. Tina squealed, squirming, trying to get away.
“Oh, no!” she wailed dramatically. “No, please, tickle monster, just let me go! I’ll do anything! Oh, cruel fate! Just leave me alone!”
Queenie paused, locking eyes with Tina, long enough for the latter to laugh mischievously and sit up, headbutting Queenie in the gut.
Queenie gave a mock squeal of pain, falling onto her butt on the floor and laughing as Tina towered over her.
Finally, the girls’ laughter subsided, and Tina sank to the floor in front of her sister, still wrapped in sheets. “Thanks, Queenie.”
Queenie smiled back, her eyes gleaming. She reached over and put her hand on Tina’s, squeezing slightly. “Anytime, Teen. Now come on, help me make those latkes.”
Tina smiled as Queenie stood, still holding her hand, and the two skipped over to the kitchen to prep dinner.
Prompt: Grindelward escapes and plans to capture Queenie as a way to not only get revenge on Tina and Newt for taking part in his arrest but also use to procure her powerful Legilimency gift. In efforts to protect Tina and Newt- Queenie has no choice but to go with Grindelward.

Title: Capture (1/2)
Summary: pretty much just what it says above.
Grindelwald has escaped from MACUSA top-end security!
The moment Tina read it, Queenie heard it. The sisters both turned to each other, Tina at the table, Queenie at the sink. Tina dropped the newspaper in shock, her mouth hanging open slightly.
“Read more,” breathed Queenie, quickly sliding into the seat next to Tina. Her sister nodded grimly, picking up the paper and beginning to read silently, broadcasting her thoughts plainly.
The past Tuesday evening the mass-murdering phsycopath Gellert Grindelwald broke free from MACUSA’s top-security jail cells. His escape was not realized until the following morning, and his whereabouts are currently unknown, though it can be assumed he is still in New York, as guards nearby could hear him muttering to himself about the city for the seven months he was jailed.
Citizens are warned to stay alert and to keep an eye on their no-maj neighbors. Grindelwald obviously has no qualms with injuring no-majs or wizards, and the magical community is under heavy lockdown currently. Use strict safety when out and about, and stick together, no matter what. MACUSA officials have refused to speak on the matter, saying they are already hard after Grindelwald.
Tina looked up at Queenie, her eyes wide in terror. Queenie looked at their clock, which showed eight in the morning. They were both heading in to work soon.
Just then, a thought caught Queenie’s attention. Tina was gnawing on her lip anxiously, thinking about the unfairness of the whole situation.
“I know,” breathed Queenie sympathetically.
“It’s just,” sighed Tina. “we were gonna meet Newt today after work... he came all the way back, especially for us, just to visit and give his book, we were going to leave early and have a lovely day and now....” She exhaled heavily.
“He’s in danger,” Queenie breathed, standing and grabbing her coat before tossing Tina hers. “He doesn’t know, Grindelwald will want revenge on him, I’m sure of it!”
“We should get to work then,” Tina said shortly, shrugging her coat on. Queenie nodded, and the two quickly left the apartment, only pausing in their brisk march to greet Mrs Esposito.
When they arrived in MACUSA, the whole place was abuzz, not that this surprised either sister. Almost as soon as the two entered the building, Aurors and all sorts of officials descended upon them, clamoring and shouting and panicking. Queenie picked up several thoughts in the hectic humble-jumble, but they hardly made any sense, though they still set her on edge. Tina stepped in front of Queenie slightly as though to shield her from the barrage, but it didn’t much matter.
Suddenly Webb was there, pushing through the crowd irritably before hooking an arm through Tina’s and pulling her through, Queenie trailing behind anxiously. Without thinking, she slipped her hand into her sister’s, and Tina squeezed gently.
The crowd followed for a few moments before they saw Palmer standing by the elevator, waiting for the other three. As Webb led them towards his associate and partner in crime, the clamoring died down and the spectators dissipated, though the nervous tension was still tight in the building.
“Webb?” Tina asked gently once she could make herself heard again. “What’s going on? Other than the escape, I mean.”
“That’s confidential,” Palmer butted in as the other three tried to shuffle into the elevator. He shot Queenie a pointed look and she was hit with a wave of discomfort that would have impressed even Abernathy.
“She’s my sister,” Tina said scaldingly, squeezing Queenie’s hand again and pulling her closer. “Whatever that just was, she deserves to hear it too.”
“She has a point, Floyd,” muttered Webb. “It might concern her too.”
Palmer glanced at Queenie again, and her skin crawled. Something about the big man just made her feel unsafe, and she was quite glad he was on their side. She trusted him, but if there ever came a time when she had to work with an Auror that wasn’t Tina, she’d much rather work with Webb.
“Fine,” he finally spat out. “Get in.”
Webb nudged his big friend cheerfully and tugged the sisters into the elevator. Palmer squeezed in after them, making it a bit of a tight fit. Queenie found herself shoved up against the wall and Red the goblin.
“What’s this, Goldstein?” Red muttered irritably, and Queenie assumed he was talking to her sister.
“Confidential,” all three aurors chimed, and Queenie shared an amused look with Webb.
Red grumbled, but reached up and hit the buttons all the same. The ride down was awkward and uncomfortable, and Queenie was quite glad to squeeze past Red and emerge into the Magical Law Enforcement office.
“Whoa, you guys have it good up here,” Queenie muttered, looking around the space. “This is way swankier than the wand permit office!”
“Yeah,” Tina said, obviously distracted, but Queenie followed her and the two men towards Graves’ office.
Right before Palmer pushed it open, Webb placed a hand on his arm and turned to the women, looking concerned.
Queenie liked Olsen Webb. He was wiry and a bit-stretched out, but there was no denying he was well built. He had dirty blonde hair that stuck up, and shining hazel eyes that retained a childish quality. He was a year or two older than Queenie, but still managed to hold himself with a sort of maturity, despite being one of the youngest in the department. He was normally the upbeat Auror, cracking jokes and keeping spirits high while on missions. Tina had often come home with funny stories of how Webb had insulted the culprit they’d been looking for right to his face, mistaking him for someone else.
“Now, I don’t want to alarm you two,” Webb said gently. “We didn’t talk to Ghost, we didn’t tell ‘em anythin’, but that was because we didn’t want to get you too any unwanted attention -- I’d best let Graves explain it, but you two... well, let’s get in.”
On that helpful note, Palmer pushed the door open and let the girls and Webb in, not looking at either of the Goldsteins.
Floyd Palmer was Webb’s best friend, but the two could not be more different. Where Webb was upbeat and cheeky, Palmer was cold and calculating. He was top of his class in Ilvermorny, and had been one of the most feared Wampus’ there. According to Webb, he was a gentle giant, but he often didn’t know how to handle himself around people he didn’t know well, and not in a Newt “it’s-kinda-cute” way, but in a “this-guy-won’t-stop-staring-at-me” kinda way. Queenie knew from his thoughts he meant no harm, but seeing those piercing ice-blue eyes boring into her from across the room would set anyone on edge.
Percival Graves’ office was cold and regal, reminding her a bit of the Head of the Magical Law Enforcement himself. He sat at his tidy desk, a copy of the New York Ghost open in front of him, massaging his temples. He was still recovering from his stint as Grindelwald’s captive, but he had been eager to return to work.
He looked up as they entered and his eyes darkened at the sight of the Goldsteins.
“Webb. Goldstein. Have a seat.”
He was obviously talking to Tina, so she and Webb took the two armchairs in front of the desk. Queenie elected to stand beside her sister rather than loiter by the door with Palmer.
“I’m sure you girls have heard the news,” Graves began, but Tina interrupted, something only the elder Goldstein sister could have gotten away with.
“Don’t beat around the bush, sir,” Tina said calmly, leaning forward slightly. “We know. Webb started to tell us -- what’s this got to do with me, or... or my sister?”
She reached her hand to the side, and Queenie quickly took it.
Graves eyed Tina for a moment before standing and beginning to pace behind his desk. “I’ve always admired your nerve, Goldstein, but I’m afraid neither of you quite understand the enormity of the situation. Grindelwald is at large again, free, among the streets.”
“How do you know he hasn’t left, sir?” Tina asked hesitantly. “Wasn’t he headed for Europe?”
Graves stopped in his pacing, examining the thin carpet before turning slowly and saying, “Because of the Goldsteins.”
“Wh-what?”
“Grindelwald is still here in New York. We heard him talking -- you read that -- in his cell. Palmer himself heard him. He’s still in New York because he... he wants revenge. You got him captured, Tina. Palmer said he was... what was it again?”
“Muttering about Goldstein,” Palmer spoke up in his deep voice, with just a hint at an Irish accent. He had come to the states as a late teenager. “That it was all Goldstein’s fault. That he’d get Goldstein.”
Queenie shivered slightly, tightening her hold on Tina’s hand.
“He’s after me?” Tina breathed in fear.
Graves leaned on his desk, his brow deeply furrowed. Then he suddenly looked at Queenie, his dark eyes boring into hers.
“No,” he said quietly, but his voice was firm. “He’s after her.”
“Queenie? Queenie, please talk to me!”
Attempting to swallow a hiccuping sob, Queenie faced the bathroom door, where Tina stood, just inches away, separated by the metal.
“It’s me, Teenie!” she gasped out raggedly, her voice breaking. “He wants me, he wants my legilimency, all because of you! I’m -- I’m so small, though, I’m so weak, I’ll never--”
“Queenie!”
“I don’t understand, I can’t -- I’ll never be able to -- I’m as good as dead!”
“Queenie, the whole Department of Magical Law Enforcement knows! He’ll never get you!”
“But that means he’ll kill you, Newt, and Jacob! I can’t let him do that!”
“We can handle ourselves!”
Queenie flung the door open, and before she could change her mind, Tina had grabbed her wrist and pulled her out. “We need to go, Newt’s waiting for us. I’m sorry Queenie, you’ve had all day, I’ve been with you all day, but you need to stop worrying -- we’ve caught Grindelwald before, we’ll do it again!”
Queenie didn’t answer, just allowed Tina to lead her from the room, still hiccuping. The left MACUSA and headed towards the docks, where Newt would surely be waiting. They planned on stopping by Jacob’s bakery later, as the no-maj didn’t yet know about Grindelwald or Newt stopping by.
Fifteen minutes later, Tina’s grip was like iron on Queenie’s hand. Her sister was nervous and flustered and excited and shy all at the same time, and if Queenie wasn’t so terrified she would feel the same.
Then, Tina must have saw him, because Queenie was bombarded by emotions surrounding one blue-coated Brit -- Newt Scamander.
“Tina!”
Tina let go of Queenie’s hand and threw her arms around Newt with reckless abandon, laughing. He chuckled too, hugging her back. When they broke apart, he held a small book out to her -- his book.
“As promised,” he said with a smile. She beamed and took it, staring at the cover as Newt turned to Queenie.
“Nice to see you,” he said politely, giving her a tight hug before pulling away just enough to whisper in her ear, “I read the paper. It’s going to be fine.”
Queenie wanted to tell him that it was more than that, that it was so much worse, but she just allowed a shaky smile, and he clapped her on the shoulder before turning back to Tina and smiling hugely. “Well, I’ve been on a boat for entirely too long now, and I’d really like some food! Does a bakery sound in order?”
Tina just smiled at him and fell in step as the two made their way back into town.
That night, Queenie lay in bed, wide awake, while her sister dreamed contentedly on the other side of the room. The night had gone well for Tina and Newt, and Jacob had held an enthusiastic reuniting with Newt that involved the no-maj giving a roar of delight before jumping over the counter and tackling the Brit in a hug.
Queenie, however, had been miserable. Every blond was Grindelwald, every flash of light was a stunning spell. She was so scared that her friends would be attacked, and it would be her fault.
She drifted into an uneasy sleep around 3 in the morning, but her dream was only worse.
It wasn’t a dream, necessarily. It was a vision -- a message, from Grindelwald himself.
Queenie found herself walking down a dark, moonlit European road, a dark figure at a crosswalk in the distance. She knew it was Grindelwald before she could make out his face. However, she wasn’t panicked. She walked strongly forward until she was face to face with him. He leered down at her.
“Little Goldstein,” he purred. “I’m sure by now you know what I need?”
“Me.”
“Yes, quite -- well -- not you, per se... it’s what’s in here that I want.” He reached out and tapped her temple sharply. She barely flinched as he continued, “You must be aware of what happens if you don’t comply.”
“Y-you’ll kill....”
“Your sister, yes. And your friend, that infuriating, stuttering idiot with the monsters. And that muggle you’re so fond of. All dead. If you don’t come with me, that is.”
It was hardly a choice. “When do I meet you?”
“Oh, I’ll come to you. And if you try and call that little government of yours, to alert them to my presence -- well, it won’t just be those three that meet an untimely end. Kapishe?”
She stared into his spiteful eyes, feeling an uncharacteristic hate rising in her stomach as she spat, “Kapishe.”
“Good.”
He grinned lecherously at her before winking and vanishing in a cloud of smoke. Queenie heard a roar behind her and turned, seeing a large, black mass, almost like a malevolent cloud -- the Obscurus!
It descended upon her, screaming horrifically, and she found herself echoing it before waking up in a cold sweat, early dawn light filtering through the window.
When he came to collect her a week later, she wasn’t alarmed or even surprised. Frankly, she’d expected him sooner.
It was late evening. She was walking past an abandoned alley when he emerged, calling her name softly. She followed him back down the alley until he turned and gripped her arm.
“They’re going to come for me,” she said firmly.
“Of course,” he said infuriatingly before smiling and disapparating with her.
The reappeared in front of a huge black mansion -- how fitting. He led her into the regal house, and down into the cellar, where rows of cells were placed. He waved his wand, and the magic bars disappeared.
“Where are we?” Queenie asked.
“Never you mind,” he said as he set to work chaining her to the wall.
She stayed quiet until he was nearly done. Then she said, stronger than before, “They will come for me. And when they do, you’ll be sorry.”
“I’m sure I will,” he said, straightening up to look at her. Then he took her wand as he said, “Thank you for being so cooperative. It’s really quite refreshing.”
“I’m going to get out of here! They will rescue me, I know it!”
Grindelwald gave an annoyed sigh before striking her across the face, hard. She cried out as her nose began to bleed.
“Just try to stay alive till then,” he said darkly before leaving, putting the magical barrier back up, and disappearing upstairs, leaving Queenie chained and trapped far below.
Summary: One night, a co-worker explodes at Queenie and demands privacy, ordering her to stay out of other people’s business -- and their minds. Queenie wakes up in the morning, devastated, with something amiss. She decides not to tell her friends (or Tina), but slowly it starts to eat away at her.
“Get out! Stop it, I know what you’re doing, I know you’re reading my mind, and I’m sick of it! So is everyone else in this office! Just because I’m sad about my husband leaving me doesn’t mean I want you to comfort me! Just stop it! Get out of my head! Ask anyone, they’ll agree with me! Stop -- reading -- our -- minds!”
Queenie stumbled back, hit by the full force of Cloe’s anger. Her brows furrowed and she stared at Cloe’s shoes, unable to look her angry coworker in the face.
“I-I’m sorry...” she mumbled as Cloe turned on her heel and marched away, slamming a drawer shut as she went.
---
When Queenie woke the next morning, it was much earlier than normal. Jacob still snored beside her, but she hardly noticed. Her mind felt dull and stupid and... closed. She attempted to reach out and try and see into Jacob’s dreams and memories, but nothing happened.
Queenie didn’t know whether to smile or cry. Her legilimency was gone -- for good or not, she couldn’t tell. Now no one would ever tell her to stop again. She slowly slipped out of bed and smiled at herself in the mirror as Jacob gave an exceptionally loud snort behind her.
---
“Queenie, I’m home!”
Queenie smiled. She hadn’t sensed him coming up the stairs, hadn’t sensed his hunger, had no idea what to expect from him. When he entered the kitchen, beaming, she smiled back at him.
He looked at her expectantly, and her grin faltered a bit. He obviously was waiting for her to read his mind. She cleared her throat and looked away, turning her face to look down at the soup she was almost done with.
“Queenie?”
“Ah -- sorry, honey,” winced Queenie. “Had quite the day at work, I’m a bit fuzzy.”
A lie. Today had gone amazingly at MACUSA. She didn’t read anyone’s thoughts, and kept to herself. Cloe didn’t yell at her, or interact with her at all -- a signal that she appreciated it.
“Oh,” Jacob said sympathetically, walking over to Queenie and wrapping his arms around her. “That’s alright. I asked -- well, thought -- what smells so heavenly?”
Queenie laughed gently. “Oh, you’re sweet. It’s chicken and dumplings.”
“Yum!” Jacob said enthusiastically, kissing Queenie on the cheek before vanishing into the bedroom to take off his shoes.
Queenie smiled to herself when he left, wondering if maybe -- just maybe -- she was gonna be able to pull this off.
---
A week had gone by. Tina was beginning to feel suspicious, but somehow Jacob had simply gone with it. It was beginning to make Queenie feel quite panicked, unsure of how to tell him what had happened.
One Saturday that she had off, Queenie went by to visit Jacob’s bakery. He was quite haggard. It was nearing Easter, and many customers wanted large supplies of treats to have in their homes. When she walked in, she had to squeeze by all the other people that were packed like sardines.
Henry was carrying a stack of boxes towards a woman back near the door, and shot her a wan smile. Queenie attempted to smile back as she worked her way up to the counter just as Jacob entered from the back.
“Oh!” Queenie made a small wave, but Jacob had noticed her as soon as he emerged. He shot her a look, eyes wide, full of meaning. She smiled, amused, as he took a man’s money and put it in the register.
Deciding he was very busy, she decided to go back home and start working on dinner. She had the ingredients for lasagna, and Jacob always loved her lasagna. Smiling to herself, she nodded and walked home.
When Jacob got home that evening, Queenie had just turned the lasagna in the oven. She turned to him, beaming, and was shocked to be met by a look of irritation.
“Queenie, is that lasagna?” he asked.
“Y-yes,” Queenie said, slowly removing her oven glove. “Wh-why? I thought you liked lasagna....”
“I do, but... oh, Queenie,” sighed Jacob, placing a hand on her arm. “I thought -- didn’t you hear me? I said I wanted -- oh, Queenie!”
“I-I’m sorry,” Queenie breathed, her voice breaking.
“Queenie!” Jacob said, getting more exasperated by the moment. “I - I mean, I know I’m not supposed t-to take advantage of your powers, but I’ve been worked to the bone lately and I thought just this once we didn’t need communicating, and of course I’ll love your lasagna, but -- oh, Queenie, read my mind!”
“Jacob!” Queenie cried out, interrupting him and close to tears. “Don’t you see? I can’t! I haven’t been able to read minds in a week!”
“Wh-what?”
“It was Cloe, she told me stop and I hated it and I did and it just stopped and I don’t know how, but -- oh, Jacob!” With that, she burst into tears.
“Qu-Queenie....” Jacob stepped forward and took her into his arms. She shook with sobs, unaware of him closing his eyes, exhaling softly, and thinking, with all his heart--
“Oh!”
Queenie pulled away, her hand over her mouth. Jacob’s eyes were damp with tears himself, but he smiled when he noticed it had worked.
Queenie smiled, suddenly overjoyed. She reached forward and gently placed her hand on Jacob’s cheek.

Summary: James and Lily are writing letters to Lily’s parents when the conversation turns to a bit of curiosity on James’ part, and Lily has no choice but to answer his questions.
“Dear mum... No, that’s too basic... ugh! What in the world am I supposed to say? She wants to know, but what am I supposed to tell her? Oh, hi mum, we’re fine, just fighting for our lives every other day.”
“Sounds good to me,” James said casually. Lily scoffed, shooting him a look.
“What?” he asked defensively, unable to keep from laughing. “Listen -- just say we’re fine, talk about the home life without talking about the war--”
“Oh, what home life?” Lily asked. “Should I really tell them that I am a month away from twenty and three months pregnant?”
A devilish grin spread across James’ face and Lily couldn’t stop from laughing.
“Okay, okay,” James said, attempting to put on a serious face. “Just say... Happy Holidays, we’re doing fine, we love you, we miss you -- well, not your wench of a sister--”
“James!”
James burst into laughter again. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry... speaking of which, is it true that your sister has a boyfriend?”
“Yes,” Lily said stiffly, though her smile gave away her amusement. “And I want us to go on a double date. She’s looking to tell him about... us, and then we are going to dinner together.”
“Oooh, yay!” James said with false enthusiasm, and Lily laughed. He went on, “Alright, but honestly -- how boring must he be?”
“Oh, incredibly,” Lily said sincerely, pushing aside the letter. She smiled to herself and said quietly, “But he was her first kiss....”
James gave a huge bark of laughter, almost falling out of his chair, and Lily couldn’t help but giggle. When James gathered himself, he looked at her and said, “Wait, really?”
When she nodded, he leaned back and exhaled heavily, quite amused. Suddenly his eyes shifted, staring at Lily.
“What?” she asked, grinning.
“Was I... I mean, did you ever... with anyone else...?” All pretense of cockiness gone, he had a sort of cautionary aura surrounding him now.
“Are you asking if you were my first kiss, James?” Lily scoffed.
He nodded, the corners of his mouth turned up.
“What do you think?”
“Well, I mean, that’s kind of my whole thing, not thinking--”
“Oh, shut up!” Lily laughed. “No, James, you were not.”
She glanced down at her tiny baby bump, then up at him. “And no, this wasn’t my first... time, either--”
“Agh!” James shouted dramatically, hopping to his feet before falling to the floor, his hands clutched to his head. “My poor, innocent mind! Stop!”
“Ohhh, shut up!” laughed Lily again, rolling onto the floor beside him.
He peaked through his fingers at her smiling face, and his smile grew too. He slowly removed his hands and she giggled.
“You’re an idiot.”
“I’m your idiot.”
“Hm... true,” Lily said thoughtfully, leaning forward and kissing him gently.
He smiled against her lips before reaching out and brushing her hair behind her ear and pulling her closer.

Title: Pukwudgie Favors Healers
Summary: pre-film, Tina gets injured pretty bad while on a solo mission, and none of the other aurors know, so she has to rely on her sister -- but hey, at least she stopped the bad guy
Tina yelped, swiftly jumping out of the way as the warlock she was chasing shot a nasty spell over his shoulder -- probably a knockback jinx, judging by the pockmark left on the cobblestones it hit.
“I really should have called for backup,” muttered Tina as she continued running, rounding the corner and dashing after him. His robes billowed behind him, making him stand out, and all in all, quite easy to find.
“Hey!” Tina bellowed, thanking Mary Warren that the street was mostly deserted. There was some big fancy parade happening for the no-maj senator, so any no-maj that was a no-maj wanted to be present.
The warlock sent another neat hex over his shoulder, and Tina easily ducked. The warlock stopped suddenly, looking left and right before trying to lunge down an alleyway to his right.
It gave Tina just enough time to shout, “Offendimus!”
The warlock’s feet caught on her trip jinx, and he went down. Tina rounded the alley corner, preparing to bind him, but he was a tricky bloke. Just as she rounded the corner, she was greeted with a flash of light and she screamed in pain as the hex hit her in the side.
She began to bleed, pressing her hand to the wound and glancing down briefly. A ragged hole had been torn in her shirt -- and her abdomen. She winced, watching as the warlock scrambled to the end of the alley, realizing it was a dead end. He spun, his wand raised to hex her again, but she was too quick.
Despite her wound and the pain in her side, as soon as he lifted his wand she raised her own, flicking it and casting a silent jinx. There was a flash and the warlock yelped, dropping his wand as her stinging jinx left an angry welt on his wrist.
He made to dive for it, for Tina called, “Accio!” and it flew towards her. She stopped it with her foot, not feeling a need to pick it up.
“Well, arrest me, then,” the warlock sneered. He sounded cockney. Odd.
“Incarcerous,” Tina said weakly, waving her wand as she stooped, wincing, and picking up his wand before walking towards him down the alley. Ropes appeared from the end of her wand, instantly binding him.
“Don’t make me body-bind you,” Tina panted, glancing down at her blood-stained shirt. “It really is such a hassle. Just sit tight while we wait for the B team.”
“Right,” the warlock scoffed. “I’m supposed to believe you’re the A team... a single, crummy witch.”
“You’d think he’d do enough damage with his wand to be satisfied,” Tina muttered, half to herself, as she pocketed his wand and slid slowly the down the alley wall, clutching her side. The wound wasn’t getting any better.
“What now, surely you’ve got some magic healing spell to make yourself all better,” said the warlock obnoxiously.
Tina shot him an annoyed glare, muttering under her breath as she pulled her bloody fingers away from the ragged gash, swearing softly. She hissed in pain as she pointed her wand at the wound and muttered, “Episkey.”
Nothing happened. Tina quickly placed her hand back on the wound, setting her wand on the ground, away from the criminal, and said loudly, “Mercy Lewis, what sorta hex was that?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know,” chuckled the warlock unpleasantly, seemingly enjoying Tina’s discomfort.
“Yeah, yeah I would...” Tina whispered, realizing how foolish she’d been. She was in an empty part of town, down a dark alleyway, with no means to get help. She couldn’t walk, and she didn’t think she was strong enough to cast a patronus message. She couldn’t remember the fancy healing spell she needed, and besides, she’d never been good at those in the first place.
“Well, this is gonna be a long night for you and me, mister,” Tina sighed, shifting so the alley wall supported her. Then she screwed her eyes shut in concentration and poured her whole will into one super-charged thought, hoping it could be picked up from the Woolworth Building basement.
Queenie, I need help.
---
Laughing, Queenie packed up her bag, talking to Evelyn.
“Trust me, you’re better off,” Evelyn assured Queenie. “He’s a nightmare, honestly! Watch, I’m gonna get home and he’s still gonna be in bed!”
Her tone was light and her eyes twinkled with fondness, so Queenie laughed with her. She knew that Evelyn secretly adored her fiance. Just as Queenie made to follow Evelyn towards the exit, seeing as both their shifts were over, she froze.
What on earth was that?
Queenie brushed past her friend, ignoring Evelyn’s confused question. She had felt something, a signal of some sort. Only Tina gave off that kind of thought -- less of a coherent thought and more of a blip on a map.
The blonde girl quickly rushed to the elevator, jamming the buttons to try and get to the ground floor. Just as Evelyn approached, the doors slid shut.
“Queenie, what is it?” Evelyn shouted as they closed. “Oh, come on!”
Soon Queenie was bursting out into the falling evening. The blip was still there, a location. There weren’t specific directions, so she had to trust her instincts. Walking quickly, she followed the blip, almost walking in a daze.
Left. Three blocks. Right. Four blocks. Right. Left. Two blocks. Left. One block. She was walking in Tina’s footsteps, following the chase her sister had embarked on almost three hours ago.
Finally, she entered a street where the blip seemed to be coming from. Queenie walked strongly down the middle of the street, confused. Was it a trap? No, it had to be Tina. But where was she?
---
Tina sat slumped against the wall. The warlock was still watching her, a seemingly impressed look on his face.
“What?” Tina grumbled suddenly. “Pictures last longer, you know.”
“Ott.”
“Excuse me?”
“My name. It’s Ott. I came to New York hoping to get my brother out of trouble with the MACUSA, but I found out you imprisoned him already. So I, uh, was supposed to distract the top aurors while he escaped. Now I suppose I’ve just got us both trapped, seeing I wasn’t a big enough problem to draw more than one.”
Tina digested this for a moment before asking, “Last name?”
“Penhale.”
Tina couldn’t help but laugh as she turned her head to look at Ott. “Your brother’s Lowen Penhale?”
“That’s him,” Ott said with a weak smile. “I really am sorry, you know... I figured you’d know how to... to heal yourself.”
“It’s not your fault you hit the one auror who has a horrible memory for healing spells,” chuckled Tina. “And besides, Lowen barely did anything. Why in the name of Deliverance Dane would you come all the way to New York to get him out?”
Ott smiled at the ground before saying flatly, “Family values.” Tina laughed, thinking that she’d probably do the same for Queenie.
“Tina!”
“Mercy Lewis!” cried Tina at the same time Ott muttered, “Merlin’s Beard....”
Queenie came rushing down the alley towards them, panic written across her features.
“Oh, Teenie, I was so worried, if you hadn’t sent out that blip for help -- eek!” She had seen Ott. He grinned shyly as she took a trembling step back. Queenie looked at Tina. “Is this him, Teenie? Why didn’t you stupefy him?”
“Yeah, that’s him,” Tina said woozily. “And I wasn’t gonna sit here without company while I waited for you -- ooof...”
Her head dipped forward, her hand slipping from the wound on her abdomen. Queenie gave a fresh scream when she saw the wound. She turned on Ott, slapping him full across the face.
“You did this!?” she shouted at him.
“Ouch... yeah, yeah I did -- it was an accident, honest!” He tried to protest, but Queenie had already knelt at Tina’s side.
“Tina, why didn’t you heal it?” Queenie breathed.
“Couldn’t... remember... the spell....” Tina smiled goofily, her eyes half shut. Suddenly she fell sideways, barely missing Ott, who tried desperately to free himself.
“Oh, no, you are not dying on me, Teen!” Queenie said firmly. When Tina didn’t answer, she cupped her sister’s face and said, gentler, “Please, you can't die now.... Tina!”
“Okay, okay,” Queenie said in a panic, drawing her wand and easing Tina onto her back. Softly she crooned, “Vulnera Sanentur...” and drew her wand across the gash. Fresh blood stopped oozing from the wound.
Ott watched, eyes wide.
“Vulnera Sanentur...” Queenie repeated, pulling the fabric back with her free hand. The blood around the wood seemed to disappear, leaving the clean hole when Ott had struck Tina.
“Vulnera Sanentur...” Queenie said the final time, and Ott watched as the wound closed slowly and Tina exhaled softly.
“Wow,” Ott breathed, and Queenie shot him a murderous look.
“Queenie?” Tina sighed softly, blinking her eyes open and smiling. “Queenie, hey! I knew you’d come for me. This my friend, Ott!”
Queenie sighed in exasperation, smiling down at her sister.
---
“Y-you’re not gonna arrest me?”
“’course not, i couldn’t after that nice conversation we had about your brother,” grinned Tina as the three made their way back towards town. She turned to Ott, smiling. “There’s a hotel not too far away, they take anyone and they’re real cheap. You’ve already got some scrapes, I’ll say you fought me off and got away, and I’ll work on getting your brother outta there.”
She held his wand out to him.
“You’re letting me go?” Ott asked, still in disbelief. “After I almost killed you?”
“Like you said, it was an accident,” Tina grinned. Ott smiled back, taking his wand.
“We’ll send Lowen you’re way in a few weeks’ time,” Tina said.
“The hotel’s three blocks that way,” Queenie told him, pointing. “Hoover Street, can’t miss it.”
“Thanks,” Ott said. “Hope to see you again sometime, yeah?”
“You should hope not!” Tina said sternly, and they all laughed.
Queenie and Tina said their goodbyes and watched Ott make his way down the street. Then the girls turned, Tina leaning heavily on Queenie as they made their way back home.
“Surprised at you, Teenie,” Queenie mused. “Lettin’ a criminal go.”
“Yeah, I’m afraid I’m gettin’ soft,” Tina said with a sly smile, looking down at her sister. Queenie smiled back before tickling her sister gently in the stomach.
