Thirsty Thursday (Ignorance is Bliss) - L.A. VanGogh (by ElAyVanGogh)
L.A VanGogh-1986: The Prelude(Mix-Tape Review)
L.A VanGogh is a Chicago rapper and this is his debut mix-tape 1986: The Prelude. I must say I like this tape a lot. He for the most part introspectively chronicles his experiences in life so far while also showing lots of skill of the mic. I also like the fact that his message for the most part is positive. On the tracks ''Theme Music'' and ''Vague Memoirs'' he recollects his father telling him not to gamble is his life away and not involving himself with the negative lifestyle or choices his peers engaged in seeing the dangers.
VanGogh also shows his versatility as a rapper on this tape. The track ''Trill Flow'' see's him taking a southern influence and even kind of had more of a southern accent on that song that made more interesting. My favorite track though is 1984 intergalactic where he just lyrically demolishes this spacey atmospheric instrumental.
This is a very solid mix-tape one I'll probably revisit a few times more in the future. Hopefully this is a prelude to and even better next release cause I'll certainly have my eyes peeled from another. If you're looking for quality hip-hop then definitely check this out and give it a listen.
