IN A WORLD WHERE L3-37 SURVIVED INSTEAD OF HAN SOLO WE WOULD HAVE
THE REBELLION ADOPTING DROID RIGHTS & DISRUPTING THE EMPIRE'S INDUSTRIAL SUPERIORITY
CHEWBACCA FREE TO LIVE HIS OWN LIFE
SOMEONE CALLING BULLSHIT ON "HE'S MORE MACHINE NOW THAN MAN"
SOMEONE TAKING R2 AND 3PO SERIOUSLY
EXPLICITLY LESBIAN BICKERING
NO CARBONITE BOUNTY PLOT DEVICE-- AN OUTLAW CHARACTER WHO ALWAYS RUNS THE RISK OF BEING CAPTURED
A PAYOFF TO THE MOTIF SURROUNDING ANAKIN AND LATER VADER'S SLAVERY
HARRISON FORD IS FREE
NO BEN SOLO!!!!!
OURS IS ACTUALLY THE BAD TIMELINE!!!!!
Glyn Dillon - Qi'Ra (2018)
Droids talking about droid/organic relationships vs their boyfriends.
And L3's conclusion:
I have become hopelessly obsessed with L3-37 from Solo: A Star Wars Story
Not because it was a good film, because it wasn’t by any means, in fact, I hate it quite a bit, but because L3 was just a really good character.
She’s a revolutionary trying to stop the oppression of droids across the galaxy. She was an astromech who built herself a new body. Is that not awesome?
Also she’s hot and probably bisexual. This is objective fact.
And they kill her off halfway right before the finale. They kill her. I fucking hate that movie.
Happy Valentine's Day!
Obligatory "I didn't watch bad batch" disclaimer so I do not know how Cham was presented in said show. In any case it's fascinating to me that Chopper has basically been Hera's life long companion (to the point I wholeheartedly believe he deserves a spot in the Kalikori) and in the homecoming episode Cham immediately refers to him as some sort of withered object and junk like he is not literally standing there. Hera even has to remind him that he has a name.
It's just generally sad that droids very clearly have autonomy that is denied left and right and people who grant them the basic level of respect and care are seen as particularly caring.
I'm not a big fan of that Han Solo movie, but I do think the narrative surrounding L3 was fascinating and worth considering in further stories.
