Hi! I wanted to ask you something about that beautiful bodyline dress you posted a while ago (L571, I think). I'm thinking of buying it, but I'm having a hard time finding a blouse that matches the ivory-ish chiffon. It's hard to tell how ivory the ruffles are from pictures online, so I wanted to ask if it's more off-white or cream or ivory in person. I'd really appreciate the help, thanks in advanced!

I put 571 beside some other pieces to compare colors, I hope this helps! Sorry it took awhile. In my WIP post the blouse I used was beige; it is not a perfect color match, being a bit darker. I think warm-toned ivory would probably suit best.

Say what you will about Bodyline, they do listen to their customer base. This dress is one of several that have appeared over the past few months (honestly I like almost all of them; but self control is important) and since I’m on a huge sax kick I got this.

In my opinion, their bustle JSKs are among the best you can buy at BL. The dress is unlined as usual, but the main fabric is good-weight jacquard wearable in spring/summer. It is well-made, the details are sturdy; detachable waist ties, the corset lacing in back is grosgrain ribbon threaded through loops of fabric, and the side zip doesn’t pinch. Really the only point of caution is that the jacquard is thick, so it might be best to pull the ribbons gently.

The chiffon underskirt is sewn to the dress, but with enough skill at sewing it is possible to remove the chiffon part to wear with other dresses. The chiffon is semi-sheer (seen above with a pink Little Dipper underskirt) but if you have a light colored petticoat it shouldn’t be a problem.

In short; a very good buy. If BL were to release more dresses in this cut and fabric, I’d love to collect them all!
