L8-L9 was an experimental battle droid developed by TaggeCo at the beginning of the Clone Wars. Designed in an effort by Baron Orman Tagge to gain favor with Chancellor Palpatine, the droid possessed advanced mobility and sensors, as well as flame and plasma projectors that made it a dangerous opponent.
