The Boy in my Dreams - Ch. 17
Chapter 17 - Laurent’s POV
"Where were you?" I didn’t need to ask, I knew where he was, but I still hadn’t told him about the connection I shared with her.
"Just hanging out," my twin answered nonchalantly. If he wasn’t going to tell me, I decided that I would say it.
"Danielle said you went by her place." I looked at him for a reaction, but couldn’t find one.
"Yeah, I stopped by to say hi."
"You know that’s my girl, why would you go there?" I asked feeling my self become more angry about the situation. I tried to not let it affect me, but I was feeling very protective of her.
"It’s not like we haven’t shared girls before, brother." He flopped down on the couch and started to watch television.
"No, this one’s different."
"Why? Why is she so different?" he asked turning to face me.
"She just is."
"Why brother? What makes her so special?" He stood up and walked until he was right in front of me.
"She just IS!" I couldn’t control it. The thought of him touching her made me shift. My eyes glowed red and I could feel my claws grow. My brother took in my reaction with a smirk. He shifted easily. It was almost as if there was always aggression waiting to come out of him. He didn’t have to build up to that point, he was always there.
"Big brother, I don’t know what it is about her that would cause you to react this way, but I will find out." His voice was calm, but I knew he was serious. He shifted back and left our apartment.
Once I controlled my breathing and listened to Danielle’s thoughts for me to calm down, I let my aggression go. He was right. Sharing girls was not uncommon for us, but I refused to share this one. I didn’t know how or when to tell him, but soon I would have to explain that she wasn’t just some girl, she was the princess we were told about all those years ago. I had hoped that as the oldest, the choice would be obvious, but knowing my brother, he was not going to give up something he felt just as entitled to, the princess and the crown.
I left to meet Danielle at her place. When I kissed her I could feel something was slightly off, but I figured she was just adjusting to everything she learned today. It was a lot to take in. I brought dinner and a movie to take her mind off of things.
"What’s it called?" she asked as I placed the disc into the DVD player.
"Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift. Have you seen it before?" She shook her head and my mouth dropped open. "You’ve never seen this before?"
"No," she laughed. "Come sit down." I was frozen in disbelief. I made my way over to her on the couch and sat down. She snuggled up to me and the movie started. Pretty soon I was the only one watching it. I could hear her snoring lightly next to me. Kissing her forehead made her stir, so I continued until I found my way to her cheek and then her neck. I knew she was exhausted, but I wanted to feel her again.
"Laurent," she said as she rested on my chest. She was still glowing after we made love to each other. The soft blue light that came from her skin illuminated the dark room. "Are there really people that are waiting for us to lead them? Is there really a planet out there waiting for us to return?"
"Yes, babe. Larry and I have been training for this most of our lives."
"But you’re here in New York to dance."
"Yes, because we were tired of being told about a war that we never saw and an enemy we had never fought. But with you, I’m ready to face whatever is out there."
"Why can’t we just stay here, forever?"
"We can, after we take care of the enemy and our people have peace, we can come right back here and stay, but after a while I think you will get tired of me."
"Never," she said and kissed me. I believed her. Knowing her thoughts there was no deception, just the love she had for me.
We fell asleep easily. My brother texted me to find out where I was and I texted him back, but I knew he already knew. He was going to keep pushing me to tell him about Danielle. Tomorrow, I will tell him, but I wasn’t sure I would be ready for his reaction. She was a secret I had kept for over 15 years and I didn’t know how he would feel about it. I hoped he would be happy for me, but I knew better. For now, I slept with her in my arms and let my mind drift to sleep. I didn’t need to dream of her anymore, she was right here. She felt right in my arms, but even the comfort I gained from her touch couldn’t stop my subconscious from terrorizing my dreams.
I stood there glowing, red eyes, claws and a scowl on my face. At least that’s what I thought I looked like as I looked into the mirror. The mirror shattered and yet my reflection remained. But now it wasn’t my reflection, it was my brother. His eyes held so much aggression that I had to look behind me to be sure it was directed towards me. Bad move, he lunged at me and we both fell to the ground. He swung at me, but I was able to block it.
"Brother, stop," I begged him.
"She’s mine," he growled.
"Who?" I was able to push him off of me and stand up.
"Don’t act like you don’t know who this is about."
"Brother, why are you trying to fight me?" I asked holding my hands out in front of me. I didn’t want to continue this altercation and relaxed my posture showing him I wasn’t trying to fight him.
"Fight you? I’m not trying to fight you, I’m going to kill you," he said as he shifted his weight and landed a powerful blow to my midsection causing me to be hurled backwards. I was stunned as he stood over me lifting a big rock and began to bring it down on me.
"Laurent! Wake up, baby, wake up!"
My eyes opened and Danielle’s face was above mine. Her eyes were wide and I could see she was concerned for me. My skin felt wet with a sheer coat of moisture and my body was shaking. She rubbed my head and kissed the side of my face to soothe me. I tried to recall the dream that she woke me from, but I couldn’t. I didn’t know why I had this feeling of dread in the pit of my stomach, but I hoped it was just my subconscious playing tricks on me.
