FRIENDS WE'RE EXCITED TO SEE AT LAABF // JENNIFER CALANDRA
fearless eater Taylor here. LAABF kicks off today--last night's preview looked awesome!!--and we're stoked to make our debossed debut. you can find us at the Pop-Hop/DUM DUM table, as well as over at WCCW! also? we'll be around on Sunday! come by and say hello!
rounding out our show-and-tell of exhibitors we're eager to hang out with: Jennifer Calandra. I had the pleasure of meeting her at last September's NYABF. I arrived later than I'd wanted to that gross first morning, but the table next to mine remained unclaimed while I set up my DUM display. the mystery had me riveted, while my own nerves frayed in anticipation of nonstop strangers. I had just deemed my red lipstick+plaid too aggressive when she swooped in, armed with a box and boots and black bangs. she was focused, near silent as she conjured unexpected objects and arranged them with confidence--a small trunk, cartoon animal bondage masks, stark black prints on white paper. when she finished staging and took a seat, I introduced myself, and we spent the weekend hustling, sharing whiskey, and complaining about the heat. whoever had had her table dropped out and called her in as backup at the last minute, which made her the most calm and collected person I met that whole weekend.
and now she's here for LAABF! go check out her table, fall in love with her S&M mommy-issue prints, and buy her latest, "Collective Delusion Mass Hysteria," a showcase of 14 ladies' works. can't wait to stop by and catch up (and maybe share some whiskey and lady zines!!)
alright! hope to see you guys there!!
xx
