Pairing: Ygor / Reader, either romantic or platonic affectionate (your choice)
Premise: Ygor tries to get a sleepy lab rat out of bed and into experiments.
Notes: Prompt from someone who asked to not be tagged as a companion to "Go to Sleep."
In a town like Darkmoor, it felt like the humble room of Dr. Victoria Frankenstein's assistant was one of the safest places one could be. The mattress was comfortable, in familiarity if not in softness. The pillow and sheets still smelled like him, traces of electricity and grave dirt under the astringent antibacterial soap that he had finally started bathing with before bed; you refused to stay over if he didn't clean up before sleeping. It was dark and as quiet as could be expected, and the idea of getting up seemed impossible, even as that peace was broken by the curtains being pulled open with a clatter.
"Good morning, sleepy head!" You groaned and covered your face with Ygor's pillow. How could he be so loudly perky at this hour? "We have a long day of experiments to get to, and... why are you not up yet?"
"Too early," you grumbled, "can't get up."
"If the suns is up, your buns is up, let's go." Ygor pulled the pillow away from your face, leading to scrunch your eyes tight and roll to face the wall. "No, no, none of that," he said, rolling you back to face him. The bed mattress moved, dipping you towards him as he stretched out beside you, nose to nose. "Get up or Ygor will get the rats, and they will all scritchy scratchy up and down your body." That got you to open one eye.
"You wouldn't." The rats were sweet, but the tickle of twenty-four or more tiny claws getting out their morning zoomies across your limbs wasn't an appealing one at this hour. He smirked and sat up, raising his fingers to his lips for what you recognized as the rat calling whistle. You reached up for his arm. "Fine, fine. I'll rise, but I'm not shining until I've had coffee."
"No shining needed today, we'll be in the catacombs and shining will attract the monsters." He guided you to sit up, then stood and held out his arms to pull you to your feet, dusting you off playfully. "There. All better. Now, Ygor is going to keep hold of your hands so you don't fall back into the bed, and we will get you coffee, yes?" You yawned and nodded, following him into the dappled sunlight of the manor's corridors and into a bright new day.
Pairing: Ygor / Reader, either romantic or platonic affectionate (your choice)
Premise: Your sleeplessness woke him up, and that simply won't do.
Notes: Prompt from @invaderphoeb - "one where the lab rat reader can’t sleep so ygor tries to get them to go to sleep." Two ideas came to mind, so both are happening!
Fun fact: the thing Ygor uses to get Reader to sleep is a technique I used while in Anatomy class; it's surprisingly relaxing.
"What is wrong?" You froze, having just turned on your side away from him; waking him up had been unintentional. "You are tossing and turning enough to wake the dead, and Ygor would know."
"Can't sleep," you muttered, turning back to him, "don't know why." While you couldn't put a finger on it before, you now felt guilty for waking him up after what had been a long day, from a rest he had been eagerly anticipating. You expected a grumble and a snarky comment, but instead he stretched out on his back and pulled you into him with a sigh.
"Come here, head on Ygor's chest, that's it. Focus on what you feel and hear." Feel, that was the warmth of his chest under your cheek, skin on skin, the rise and fall of breath, the flutter of heartbeat. Hear, the same breath and heartbeat, steady, interrupted by his tired yet fond voice.
"That is Ygor's heartbeat, yes?" For a moment, you expected it to be followed by something sentimental, but instead he stroked your head with lazy, soothing motions and said, "blood goes in the superior and inferior vena cava, through the right artium and ventricle which are separated by the tricuspid valve. Then it goes through the pulmonary valve, that's for the lungs, into the lungs through the pulmonary arteries, capillaries, and then the veins. Very important, do not forget the veins." He continued, muttering the path of blood flow though the heart, down to the tip of a finger and back. By the time he was trying to get through describing the same path back through the heart and down to toe, he was falling asleep mid word, and you were already there, dreaming of floating down a river moved along by a gentle pulse.
I have two more Little Lab Rat prompts that I'd like to write when the inspiration strikes.
Then there's the self-indulgent ideas for my OC bouncing around the Manor and Darkmoor.
And the Bride contemplating her life in Darkmoor with her new friend and reacting to Dr. Victoria's statements that Big Guy is better than "her" Creature.
Oh, and also the one that won't leave me alone lately, the idea of Ygor and Victoria deciding to have a child to ensure the Frankenstein family name is carried on, not making them a proper couple so much as coming to a conclusion that they could coparent effectively. Because of course, it's the most out there and illogical idea that my brain decides to latch onto.
Help deciding or even further prompts are honestly going to be welcome. Will accept any ideas but unlikely to write NSFW, extreme violence or gore, etc.
Characters: Dr. Victoria Frankenstein, Ygor, You (Lab Rat Reader)
Pairing: none
Premise: Victoria catches Ygor trying to cure your insomnia. She is not amused.
Notes: Prompt from @invaderphoeb - "one where the lab rat reader can’t sleep so ygor tries to get them to go to sleep." Two ideas came to mind, so both are happening!
As an academic and a scientist, Dr. Victoria Frankenstein was no stranger to sleepless nights. As a curator of monsters, she was also no stranger to being awoken out of a rare deep, delightful sleep by something that needed to be addressed immediately. She had not expected that the immediate need would be from her assistant chasing one of the experiments around the lab.
"Ygor!" He paused, the massive reflex hammer usually reserved for the Monster still held high above his head. You froze as well, half crouched, before slowly and cautiously unfurling as she spoke. "I trust there's a reason for this?" Her voice had a calm, measured anger that sent a chill down your spine as you inched away towards the door.
"Yes, Doctor, of course!" He shifted from nervous to trying to turn on the charm he used when luring people to the lab. "All the little lab rats and all their little lab rat friends are safe in their beds and cages and what have you, but this one could not sleep. Ygor was simply trying to help this one fall asleep with a little, ah, percussive maintenance, yes?"
"Percussive mai-" The anger that bubbled through Dr. Victoria could have powered the lab, but she took a deep breath. "There are times when a Taylor hammer to the skull is appropriate. Insomnia is not one of them." She turned to you, noting that you were almost entirely out of the door. "And you." You lowered your hand from the door handle, rotating slowly on your toe to face her. "Write down the cause of your sleeplessness, it may be useful to us. Make a cup of camomile, put some lavender oil on your pulse points, and report back your findings in the morning. Now. Bed." She stormed back out of the room as you ran back to yours, leaving her assistant to lower the hammer at last. He looked around the newly empty lab.
