A/N: This is a weird, random monologue of an OC I created, who will appear as a minor side character in Our Secrets Will Keep Themselves, and likely occasional other works in the distant future. Anyways, I was working on a Marcus Davenport (x reader) drabble where the reader role-plays as this OC, but I didn’t finish it yet and my brain decided to create this instead.

Some days I remember nothing. Not a whisper of my life before my father adopted me at eleven years old.
No hushed voices mourning over the dying little girl locked away in a university professor’s home library. No days on end soaking white towels red with the blood streaming down my face.
A little orphan trapped where she didn’t belong.
Some days it was easy to push those memories behind, living life in this decade. High school, rodeos, and quiet family nights watching old murder mysteries with homemade ice cream.
And arguing till dawn about the humanoid shaped machinery scattered over the lab workbench.
I remember watching as the face came together, Marcus’ eyes opening for the first time. A few days after his activation, coming downstairs to find him in front of the television, the iconic Magnum P.I. theme song echoing throughout the first floor. I joined him, chatting like any two normal teenagers would, and in that moment I realized he was my brother.
I always thought Douglas considered him family as much as I did, until Marcus stood reborn in Giselle’s lab, accusations flying from his lips. I stood there, having to come to defend the man who raised me, who, after so much turmoil, promised there would be no more lies. Something I’d been naïve enough to believe.
There are days I’m not strong enough to keep on forgiving. And why should I? I’m not a hero. I wasn’t engineered in a lab like my brother or cousins. I’m not destined for great, legendary deeds.
I’m an unlucky girl still trapped where she doesn’t belong. A forgotten means to an end, a secret history keeps for itself.
And it’s better that way, to remain a ghost in this world, lurking through every dark corner of earth, searching for a way home.

The Centium City blackout didn’t reach the news until it had already lasted for three days. Up until the bold letters raced across the monitor at the Academy, Leo hadn’t given those three days a single thought. Sure, he hadn’t heard from his siblings in that time, but given how busy all their lives were, Chase and Bree trying to find the saboteurs who destroyed Mighty Med and he and Adam running the Bionic Academy, a few days often passed between video calls and texts.
As the news report continues on, reporter describing the widespread vandalism and violence, alongside the overwhelmed hospitals, Leo pulls out his phone, shooting a quick text to Chase.
Leo: Hey, just saw the news. What’s going on, r u guys ok?
He stares at the screen, chiding himself for expecting an immediate response. They were almost certainly fine, being the bionic heroes that they were.
Still, Leo’s fingers drum on the console.
His worry grows over the next twenty-four hours, with more than five unanswered phone calls and the audience in front of the monitor has grown to include Adam and Mr. Davenport, the latter repeating every twenty minutes or so that he’s sure everything’s fine, though it’s unclear whether he’s trying to soothe himself or them. Leo ignores it regardless, his gut, which he learned to trust a long time ago, whispers something amiss.
Half of his mind is already made up to just go there, police blockade or not, if he doesn’t hear anything in the next couple of days. He just can’t stand being here, helpless. It’s always been his job to protect his siblings, and years later, even when they’ve returned the favor several times over, Leo’s claim as the Enforcer remains.
He may not have been bionic back then, but he’d always been a hero, just one that had been a little less focused on saving the world and more on saving his family.
They’d all been through far too much together only to fall separated by thousands of miles of land and ocean.

Sometimes Skylar looks down from Centium Tower onto the street below, and sees him, Chase Davenport and her kissing admist the rubble of a ruined city. It feels as though it was a lifetime ago, not mere months, but since then the world finally shattered, and Chase did not apologize for his part in it. She understands, truth be told, and thinks Donald Davenport would too if he let himself, but it can’t stop her, and everyone else, from wishing he hadn’t intentionally disappeared after it all, wishing she’d look out and see him walking back down the street, maybe willing to start all over.

Adam Davenport has never been intelligent, and he’s always been content with that, joked about it all the years of growing up, but sometimes he wonders if his siblings have forgotten the difference between his jokes and geniune confusion. He is competent, not at everything, but he’s yet to have failed them on a mission, and that’s what they were created to do, that’s their purpose, and he hopes that Bree and Chase don’t doubt him out there. They don’t seem to, at least they didn’t used to.
Now he’s not so sure.
