I’ll be posting from my phone for the next few days
I’m headed 4 hours away to hopefully get surgery. I get my consultation this afternoon.
I’ve been praying for months and I finally have a good church behind me, praying too, and all my friends on facebook.
I’m having to stay with Dad’s side of the family (rich, republican Lebanese, very traditional, men run everything, women stay home and have babies, very racist ---surprising since they are such a minority themselves. ) I barely know them but I have no idea what my copay is going to be so I didn’t want to spend money on a motel if I didn’t have to. They let me stay but they weren’t happy about it and let me know I was intruding on their vacation plans. My Dad’s brother and his subsequent family always hated my dad. I have written about it here many times but it’s been a while. The short version: Dad’s brother left to do his own thing, leaving Dad to continue the family business. His brother became a big deal while the family business slowly failed. The brother never once came home to help or sent back money, if anything, he cconned my grandfather into several schemes where my grandfather’s money was lost. My uncle’s family always treated us as the poor stupid relation that everyone was embarrassed of and as a kid I never understood this. He would come to town once a year in a big car and take everyone to dinner and Dad would tell him “Some of us have to work!!” and he’d send me instead and then give ME money (at like 7 years old) and insist I pay and save the family reputation. It was a trip. It took me a long time to realize what kind of person my uncle really ays, how small and petty and sometimes just mean.
So I honestly think I am far more nervous about dealing with them than I am having my 10th eye surgery.
I had a nice conversation with sXe Chris the other night. As usual, I talked a lot and he listened and didn’t say much but still being able to talk to him like that and just be listened to and validated is the most amazing thing in the world. Sometimes I wish he would tell me the types of things I’m telling him, but that’s not how it is and I’m just grateful for any intelligent interaction.
The person I am going with (the only person I could find to take me) is a good person but she is.......off in a lot of ways. Sometimes I wonder if she’s not a bit senile. She teaches next to me. I’m praying for patience with her because there are things she does that drives my autism nuts.
IT’S HARD HAVING NO FAMILY AND NO LOCAL FRIENDS. NO ONE TO SAY HELL YEAH I’LL DRIVE YOU HOME AFTER YOU GET SURGERY OR OF COURSE YOU CAN STAY WITH ME, YOU’RE FAMILY AND I WOULDN’T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY. But this is my life and it has been for many years. GOD WILL PROVIDE.
I’ve been praying for a spirit of calmness and serenity to face whatever is ahead. I would appreciate any prayers and good vibes you can send.
