Promotional items for “RUBBER DUCKIE PORTRAITS” are making their way through the mails. Sure, they don’t identify themselves as such, but isn’t building the mystery an important art of the fun? It’s possible I don’t understand anything about marketing. It’s possible that I do, and I deliberately behave otherwise. This would track with the rest of my behaviour in every other aspect of my life,…

Labasheeda - Blueprints (Indie Rock)
🕑 1 min / Text: Adrian Release Date: 03/11/23 Another talented act from the Netherlands is the Amsterdam-based trio Labasheeda. If you're into energetic punk and alternative rock, I highly recommend checking out their latest album 'Blueprints.' It features 11 amazing tracks, and all that I know is that I absolutely love the outstanding guitar work as well as the dynamic and virtuoso drums. Their fuzzy distortion sound blew me away, and there's just somehting very captivating about the way of singing. ‘Blueprints’ is a fresh, noisy, and driving indie rock album that shouldn't be overlooked. You can check out the preview below. If you dig it, make sure to find out more about Labasheeda on Instagram and Spotify. 30/1 Pits Pinte - Giessen 31/1 Frischzelle-Darmstadt 1 /2 Kuze-Potsdam 2 /2 K19-Berlin 3/2 Jungbrunnen-Selb 4/2 Zentralwerk-Dresden Stream: https://open.spotify.com/album/2xPueJoMK50RMmE5NYiLuG Follow: https://www.instagram.com/labasheeda_amsterdam ✔️ Available on our Indie Playlist on Spotify.

Labasheeda
Labasheeda is an art-rock band from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Tying together a decade of adventurous, sound-evolving albums and changing lineups, are penchants for concise, stripped down melodies, and quick switches from spacious bass lines and drums into heavy, chaotic, and sometimes anthemic guitar driven songs, drawing comparisons to genre-pushing bands such as Sonic Youth and Sebadoh. Their ninth album, Status Seeking, is out now on Presto Chango Records. Check out album highlight 'Infralight' below.

Arjuna
‘Drink Your Fears’ from Arjuna is a nod to pushing your limits and chasing your dreams, while simultaneously acknowledging the self-doubt that lives within all of us like creatures in the night. Arjuna is a completely independent artist, writing, producing and creating film clips by herself. “I have been writing and performing in various projects from the age of 13, but nothing compares to Arjuna,” she says. ”This project captures the essence of my heart, like a melodic journal where all of my thoughts float out into the abyss to be experienced by others as a true reflection of myself. It has always been very personal.” After a 2 year hiatus from social media, Arjuna returned to the digital world in July, with a companion, her debut single ‘Rhythms’. “My music is heavily inspired by earthly elements - nature and the human experience. I hear music and rhythm in the mundane, in dripping taps, washing machine spin cycles and car indicators ticking away. I enjoy the fluidity of expression that music allows me. I find it hard to be defined by a genre, as my music is inspired by the ever-changing tides of life and all that it is to be human. Change is my muse, it keeps me from stagnating.” Arjuna is in the process of recording her album Fire Flow, for release in 2021. Listen to ‘Drink Your Fears’ below.

Daisy Sellas
Daisy Sellas was born and raised on a ranch in Southern California, a sage-brush- and cattle- filled desert paradise just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean. Because of this, her musical roots lay firmly grounded in traditional cowboy music, but she gains inspiration from country music as well as classic rock. She started playing guitar and writing songs when she was nine years old. Her songs depict life through the eyes of a desert dwelling, curious and cautious young adult with a western soul as she navigates life and love, and grapples with questions that plague us. With influences ranging from the Rolling Stones to David Bowie, Taylor Swift to Patsy Cline and Cody Jinks to Kacey Musgraves, her lyrics and melodies are honest, smooth, easy on the ear and simply complex. She currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee, where she is studying Songwriting and Creative Writing at Belmont University, but often plays shows in Southern California and Southern Idaho. Her latest single is ‘Hang Up’. “It’s fun, sexy bluegrass country and I wrote it with my friend Sophia Griffin,” says Daisy. “Additionally, it was all created and produced by my friends at Belmont University— all college students!” Listen below.
Hannah Judson
Indie folk-rock, singer-songwriter Hannah Judson uses loops, poetry, science and fiction to deliver her folk/rock set. Her songs are rooted in folk storytelling tradition influenced by Leonard Cohen, The Mountain Goats, Neutral Milk Hotel and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, and provocative critical observation like Liz Phair and Cat Power. Born out of the Chicago indie scene where she was a student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she collaborated with many musicians as the lead singer and songwriter for Sweet Bridget and Kite Club, until moving to France where she currently lives and works. She is co-founder of MUSEfest, an international festival to amplify women in music and film, and hosts The Hannah Judson Beat podcast, conversations about creativity, art and music. The song ‘Deep Sea Diver’ “treats the idea that two people from different extremes of the universe can be pulled into a love story -- from outer space and from the ocean floor -- however unlikely, and that it not only makes sense to them, it is part of their being, it is who they are,” explains Hannah. “Our journeys are vast, and when our soul resonates with another, we know it. Love doesn’t require a linear narrative. It can be literally all over the place.”
The Mandevilles
It's been more than five years since the release of The Mandevilles’ last record, Windows and Stones. After a long period of songwriting, they have shared ‘Lightning’, a new track which reflects the masochistic side of a past relationship. The band say: “For a long time I romanticized everything about it, reminiscing over the pleasure within the pain. Eventually, I woke up to the reality that it just didn't work, but there's still this sick thrill from going through hell for someone you think you're meant to be with. This song broke our writer's block, setting us on the path to create the songs which make up our forthcoming album. Neil Morrissey, our friend and creative partner, produced ‘Lightning’ with us. It was a fun and collaborative experience for the band, especially between our guitarists, Taylor and Nick. Their friendly competitiveness pushed the song into guitar heaven with Taylor's droning hooks in the choruses and Nick's unorthodox anti-solo. Getting stoned and eating all of the Cinnamon Toast Crunch is the perfect way to rip into this song.”

Jimena Arroyo
Jimena Arroyo is a singer-songwriter from La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the age of 19, she won a car in a singing competition on a TV show in her country. From that moment on, she started performing live and worked as a touring singer in a cover band for over ten years. After that, she decided to focus on her original songs, so she started working with very talented musicians, composers and producers from all over the world. Latest single ‘Candle & Spark’ is out now. Jimena says, “It's a rock song about finding light and hope in times of darkness. It was written by me and CJ Teffner, who's also the producer.”
