Label Spotlight: Radio Active Hardcore [RAHC]

Neat netlabel started in 2011 by japanese breakcore/mashcore artist DJKurara, it began with mainly promotion of his own works along with those of other underground core artists in Japan before branching out around 2012/2013 to promote artists from around the world mostly through additions to compilations. I’d highly recommend checking out  Energetic Hardcore Monsters Vols. 1 & 2 and the recent Sweetcore Absolute compilations.  

Little note: a lot of the albums have a lolicore/anime influence in the art style.

Label Spotlight: Chloé Spring '15

The Chloé Spring '15 Ready-to-Wear collection had me head-over-heels. I loved the flowy feel of the fabric from the looks paired with the zig-zag lace sandals (CRAZY in love with those!). The whole collection felt very haute, yet casual enough to be worn on a little beach in Greece during the summer. I think that is one of my favorite aspects about the looks. Another thing I love, tying back to the flowy feel of the fabric, is the intricate patterning on the clothing. It makes the looks simultaneously simple and complicated. The simple hair and natural makeup also brought out the color palette and fluidity of the whole collection. The shoes and clothes from this have a certain aspect in them that I won't forget.

My overall rating: 9.5/10

Label Spotlight: Adam Selman Spring ‘15

After finding Adam Selman’s new collection on style.com, I was in love. I loved the simplicity of the entire collection from the colors to the beads to the converse. I loved how simplicity was tied in with the runway. The looks could be worn in the city, yet also be worn on TV. The flowy fabric adds a relaxed touch and the converse and sunglasses give the collection a very carefree, spring look. These looks will have an impact on how I dress myself this spring season. This has to be one of my favorite runway shows ever.

My overall rating: 9/10

KENEMA 

Born in 2010 and named after a war-ravaged part of Sierra Leone, Kenema is the baby of Tamu Thomas, who set out to start a company that would “defy the myth that African fashion is only for people of the African Diaspora”. Up until recently Kenema focused on fashion for women, but are currently selling a unisex line, ‘Interlude’, that features bomber jackets and wonderfully designed trousers and shirts.

No Sleep Label Spotlight in Alt Press Issue #275 Out Tomorrow!!

No Sleep Records is featured in the new issue of Alternative Press (Issue #275 out TOMORROW) in the Label Spotlight section of AP: DIY.

I am super stoked that they ran this feature and I have to thank all of you for the support along the way, without the fans of No Sleep and our bands none of this would be possible so thank you! So anyways unless you subscribe to Alt Press head to your local book shop/grocery store/gas station tomorrow and pick up the new issue! The feature is on page 38 and includes an interview and the 5 essential No Sleep releases to date - chosen by me.
