Go Love!
Giving Tuesday? Really? Because I need someone else to tell me that on THAT Tuesday I need to give? Get real! I am sick of the media telling me I need to do this or need to do that. I am sick of their labels for every stinking day from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday....what’s next? It’s Wednesday people.....WHAT’S NEXT?
What if the sheeple has a brain to use on their own? What if we just turned off the boob tube, ignored the radio blasts, didn’t live for the Thanksgiving newspaper ads and just went quietly about our normal routines of giving and loving and living each say to its fullest, as we should? What if we lived that way EVERY day? What if we just poo-pooed the power of the media, logged off, unplugged and did as we pleased? WHAT IF?
The media is a drug and you are on it. If you’re caught up in the frenzy of the best bargain, greatest sale, new gadget, HAVE-TO-HAVE, you’re addicted and there is help.
Unplug yourself. Go for a walk, alone or with someone. Enjoy nature, listen to it. Write a letter to that person you’ve been thinking of. Drop them a card. Give them a call. GO SEE THEM! Watch the sunrise. Watch the sunset. Have family movie night and watch a movie you haven’t seen since you were a kid. Make taffy. Make popcorn balls. Make and decorate cookies and give them to your neighbors. Invite friends to dinner. Be a cheerleader for someone else, because everybody needs one. Look deep inside you for what gives you joy. Share it. Extend that spirit of the season each and every day, not just one month on the calendar. If you ever catch yourself thinking “I should”, JUST DO!
Buy local, support your creative friends and family. Shop locally-owned every day, not just during the Holidays. Make it a conscience, life-changing decision, because you do have to think about it. It gets easier.
Go love.
