stark disassembled
@danversiism & @labwebs - ✉ - texting habits
so, hilariously, one of the few things we don't have a lot of panels for me to pull from is this exactly. but we do have-
which, i'm gonna be honest, those two snippets say a hell of a lot about tony and his texting habits and how he communicates in general.
before we get started, though, let me also offer you this-
and also this, which has no bearing on tony's texting habits, i just want everyone to see it.
supportive of your choices uncle iron man is the best uncle iron man (no, @mercred, not you - sorry, @spiderz0mbie aim higher).
so. here's what we can glean from the above, and given what i know of who tony stark is as a person (which is entirely more than i ever wanted to know) this tracks:
01 tony will text you. if you don't text him back, he's going to text you again. if you don't text him back after that, he's probably going to text you one more time again. he is, arguably, a rapid fire texter, given carol's unfortunate experience, so he may not even give you time to answer before he just keeps going, but he's going to bug the ever loving shit out of you before he's done.
02 if you do what carol has unfortunately done, or what kamala has naively assumed would be understood, he's gonna show up. especially if it's a scenario where he's worried about the other person. and judging from carol's tony, what did we say about this?, this isn't a new thing with him. tony and things like boundaries sometimes have a contentious relationship; both his boundaries for himself, and his boundaries with other people. also probably because so many of his most important relationships exist without boundaries at all (yes, i am looking specifically at you, steve rogers).
and, to add the other corner of our little triangle-
03 he may not (read: often) answer your texts via text. i like to imagine mostly he just calls people because while hands free voice to text is a thing, it's probably just better to do it real time in a phone conversation, because he's not the most patient person in the world, no, and his hands are often busy, so it's a win-win for him. but also instead of doing the replying thing like a normal person, sometimes he jumps directly into action mode, which in the case above is a shoulder to cry on and comfort gyros. he's probably gonna leave you on read, is what i'm getting at, but it's not gonna always be intentional.
in other words, tony displays bad texting etiquette and i don't think he really cares, because clearly this is just how he operates. he also doesn't really use emojis (ask @involuntaryspy about tony and the 👍 emoji - he's been at war with it for years now). letting tony text you is letting a demon into your home, and the onus of that is on you.
