I found the bandages in the trash. You want to explain that?
blood on your sleeve ( prompt, still accepting!! )
she sits in the diner, chair angled in isolation toward the corridor. like she's guarding it. which, in a sense, she supposes she is. trying to understand it has been a wasted effort. trying to communicate with it, control it, engage with it... all pointless endeavours. jayce and viktor have run countless tests. but beyond the fluctuations in energy that occur when this anomaly takes place... they have nothing.

" they're not mine. " though she can't seem to stomach the idea that they came from that terrified boy this afternoon. an axe, he'd said. he must've been lurching back to avoid a second, closer swing, when he came through. it took hours to calm him down, then seconds for him to fall asleep. she's become so accustomed to hiding this thing, to lying and shielding and dismissing any concerns from outsiders. what would people do? say? how would they react to knowing that there's a portal, an interdimensional one, pulling people into their universe?
but as she studies carol, she has to amend that.
how would ordinary people respond to that knowledge? fearfully. sceptically. angrily. but carol... she straightens up, setting the glass of whiskey on the floor, and makes a choice.
" there's a portal in the corridor. right where we put the egg rug. those bandages, they got used on a teenage boy who came through it today. wyatt. he's asleep right now; upstairs in the living room. he's safe. but... he wasn't before the portal. i... wait. sorry. i'm sorry, carol; is this okay? is this making sense so far? "
