He stepped back as he took his hand away from the young woman’s head, the butterfly that had been settled on her hairpiece now taking up residence on his finger. He sent the thing on its way with a gentle shake and offered a little nod as an apology for coming so close unbidden.
“Can’t blame the little guy for being curious. But you should take better care of yourself. People tend to want to put cute flowers in vases when they’re not careful.”
