This course will focus on a few ways we can use mushrooms to heal many of the ailments that are inflicting our community today. We will also experiment with some hands on medicine making and learn about different recipes we can use to incorporte mushrooms. Light food included with your donation! This 2 hour workshop will focus on some of the more popular and more accesible mushrooms that are well known for their many healing powers around the world. We will also discuss the power of psilocibin mushrooms in aiding depression and other mental disorders. Most medicinal mushroom workshops often overlook the power of psilocibin mushrooms because of the exploitation of the mushroom by the mainstrem "shroom" culture. Often overlooked, and widely feared, mushrooms have been considered a dark force of nature to be untouched and left alone. Lately, however, mushrooms have been increasing in populatiry and are becoming more well known and more accepted. This workshop will provide you with the basic information you need to choose the best mushroom for your personal health goals and to help you create your own mushroom medicine. Because of the the growing threat of gentrification we request that NO gentrifiers come to this workshop. This is an intentional space for communities that have been historically marginalized. AWP Offsite Event: Say Their Names March 30th (9-11pm) @ #OvaHQ, @laconxa. The AWP Conference, the largest writer's conference in the Americas, comes to LA this March. Often in the literary world, the role of poetry in the struggle for social justice is lost. The purpose of this event is to remember both the losses that have been suffered in our communities and the role of art in confronting these injustices. In keeping with the name of this event, we will pass the hat to raise money for the BLMLA 7. The Black Lives Matter movement was born out of the many lives we have lost in the past several years. The BLM movement, as well as many other movements, are the material reflection of our most inspired aspirations, the aim to make a better world. What BLM in general, and the BLM 7 specifically, are doing, by confronting injustice with their bodies, words, and hearts, is embodying and amplifying the spirit that many of us artists aim to convey in our poetry, murals, fiction, and songs.
