starting to make my own lacquer for sunflower and lovage flutes. The commercial available pre made one from the store has irritating chemicals in it (they disappear when dried, but it is bad during painting the flute). As I have no idea how to do it properly, I just mixed stuff together I already had: Isopropnol, Ethanol, Copal, Frankincense, Amber, Dammar resins. I ordered raw Shellac online.
