First flute sealed with my self made oil and resin lacquer. Painted with Red Ochre and Manganese Black in Shellac. The seali g lacquer was made from walnut oil, ethanol, isopropanol and a mix of resins (copal, dammar, frankincense, mastix, amber). Sunflower Ney with additional side hole sound demo recorded after sunset at a bridge across the Danube. The lacquer worked well on sealing the flute inside and outside. I have to wait a few days until I know if the effect will last, because sunflower is a porous material, and if it is sealed only with oil, the effect is mostly gone after the material has absorbed the oil. That was one of the reasons I wanted to try the oil and resin lacquer, hoping the resins will seal the surface similar to shellac. Copal is much cheaper than shellac, it is made ftom plants, no animals involved, and it smells good. The sound improved immediately, and the lacquer dried fast. #flute #flutemaker #flutemaking #ney #nay #sunflowerflute #sunflowerstalkflute #earthpigments #persianred #ochre #ironpigments #lacquer #oilandresinlacquer #oelharzlack #copallacquer #kopallack #shellac #Schellack #walnutoil https://www.instagram.com/p/B2pUf14IBq-/?igshid=7b4g3yeu71j7
