Sims 4 Llama Valley Challenge (base game friendly)
Welcome to my Farm Challenge!
After trying out a bunch of farm-themed challenges, I decided to create my own! This one is structured, base-game friendly, and flexible, so you can adapt it to your playstyle.
Note: If you need help with cheats or mods, a quick Google search will point you in the right direction — I won’t be covering that here.
This challenge was inspired by two others: 1 and 2. I’ve combined the best elements and added my own twist to keep things fresh!
To win
Your main goal is to purchase all upgrades from the challenge list and complete the Freelance Botanist aspiration.
Additional Rule (If You Own Get to Work): You must also open and successfully run a retail shop — because what’s a farm without a little entrepreneurship?
To spice things up, I’ve included 21 optional tasks you can complete for extra rewards.
By the end of this challenge, your farmer will have:
✅ A big, beautiful home, ✅ A thriving, happy family, ✅ A flourishing, perfect garden.
Backstory: A Farmer’s Legacy
Your grandfather was a legendary farmer — a true master of the land who earned respect and admiration. But when he passed away, his legacy was stripped away by debt collectors, leaving you with nothing but his crumbling old house and a stretch of barren, untended soil.
Now, it’s up to you to restore the family honor. With hard work, determination, and a little luck, you’ll rebuild what was lost — turning this empty plot into a thriving farm worthy of your grandfather’s name.
Set Up: Getting Started
I played this challenge with long seasons and long lifespan for a more immersive experience, but feel free to adjust the settings to your liking. (Tip: Starting in spring feels the most natural — use cheats to change the season if needed!)
Character Rules:
You must begin as a Young Adult (no skipping the hard work!).
Roll the dice to determine your Starter Pack — because every farmer’s luck is different!
Your grandfather left you one skill book to start your farming journey—roll the dice to determine your fate!
Roll a 6-Sided Die:
1-2 ➝ Cooking (Because even farmers need to eat!)
3-4 ➝ Gardening (The classic choice for a reason!)
5-6 ➝ Handiness (Fixing broken fences won’t wait!)
Special Rule for Expansion Packs/Mods:
If you roll a 5 or 6, you get one bonus EP/mod skill book! Choose from:
Herbalism, Knitting, Juice Fizzing, Baking, Flower Arranging, Canning, Nectar Making, etc.
No expansions/mods? Pick any base-game skill instead — every farmer deserves a hobby!
Starting Skills: You're No Beginner!
Since you didn't just fall off the turnip truck, your farmer begins with one skill already at level 2. Roll the dice to determine which skill you've honed before inheriting the farm!
Roll a 6-Sided Die:
1-2 ➝ Cooking (Grandpa always said a good meal keeps the spirit strong!)
3-4 ➝ Gardening (Those childhood summers pulling weeds finally paid off!)
5-6 ➝ Handiness (All those broken doll houses taught you something useful!)
Bonus for Expansion Packs/Mods:
If you roll 5-6, you may choose one EP/mod skill instead (e.g., Herbalism, Juice Fizzing, Baking, Flower Arranging, Canning, or Nectar Making).
No expansions/mods? No problem—pick any base-game skill to specialize in!
(Use cheats to set your chosen skill to level 2—no shame in giving yourself a head start!)
Your Farmer’s Personality & Goals
Traits: Flaws Make Things Interesting!
Every farmer has their strengths… and quirks. Choose: ✅ 1 Helpful Trait (Pick from):
Loves Outdoors, Genius, Creative, Perfectionist, Green Fiend, Loner, Maker
❌ 1 Challenging Trait (Pick from):
Hot-Headed, Gloomy, Paranoid, Squeamish, Kleptomaniac, Jealous
🎭 1 Wildcard Trait (Any trait not listed above—make it your own!)
(Example: A Green Fiend + Jealous + Music Lover farmer who sings to their plants… And side-eyes the neighbor’s prize pumpkin.)
Aspirations: From Struggling to Legendary
You MUST complete: 🌿 Freelance Botanist (Non-negotiable—this is a farming challenge!)
Suggested Path for Extra Depth (Complete in Order):
The Curator – Sell collectibles to fund your farm’s revival.
Freelance Botanist – Master the garden.
Big Happy Family – Put down roots (literally and figuratively).
Angling Ace – Retirement hobby.
Mansion Baron – Build the farmhouse of your dreams.
Tip: Even if you don’t finish all aspirations, this order tells a satisfying story!
Farmer's Dress Code: Function Over Fashion
Clothing Restrictions:
🧑🌾 Workwear Only
Outfits must be practical for gardening/farming (dirt stains encouraged!)
No fancy/formal wear—save those ballgowns for the Harvest Festival!
💰 New Clothes? That'll Cost Ya!
Adding any new clothing item to a category (everyday, sleep, etc.) costs §200.
(Example Approved Looks: Overalls, flannels, sun hats, muddy boots — channel "hardworking homesteader" vibes.)
Your Inheritance: A Fixer-Upper Farm
Step 1: Claim Your Land
📍 Lot Requirements:
Size: Large lot (50x50 or bigger).
Location: Deep forest (e.g., Willow Creek’s “Foundry Cove”) or remote island (e.g., Sulani’s “Off-Grid Island”) for maximum isolation.
Condition: Start with a near-derelict house:
Cracked walls, missing roof sections, and stained flooring.
Minimal furniture (think: a sleeping bag, second hand fridge, and one wobbly chair).
🔨 Builder’s Note: Plan space for future expansions:
Crops & Greenhouse (South-facing for sun!),
Animal Barn (if using Cottage Living),
Basement Cellar (For preserves and overflow harvests),
Crafting Studio (For artisan goods).
Step 2: Embrace the Discomfort
💔 Debug Menu Realism:
Scatter dirty dishes and broken appliances for discomfort moodlets and annoyed animations. Use debug catalog or gallery rooms.
Step 3: Cursed Land? Perfect.
👹 Lot Traits (Optional):
Creepy Crawlies (Spiders everywhere? Classic farm life).
Filthy (Dust bunnies multiply faster than your crops).
Gremlins (Because what’s a farm without “mysterious” tool breakdowns?).
Quake Zone (For those “is this land cursed?!” moments).
Step 4. Place the following objects anywhere in the house:
- Tent or cheapest bed, - Woodworking table, - Functional pile of books or cheapest bookcase, - Fetilize-able bush or cheapest toilet (must be outdoors anyway), - Cheapes grill (if there is none around), - Outdoor bin, - Washing tub and clothesline (if you own Laundry Day).
Step 5. Use cheat to reduce money to zero. That's right, you better hurry before you farmer got hungry! I suggest you to look around for collectibles, harvestibles and lost hotdogs. You can use community lots. You can't build mansion for community lot and live there!

🚫 Strict Selling Rules
No Scamming the System!
You cannot profit from selling:
Decorative decay (spiderwebs, wall cracks, dirty dishes)
Structural elements (walls, windows, plumbing)
Abandoned furniture (that moldy couch isn’t worth anything!)
Action Required: Use cheats to deduct any accidental profits from these sales.
Crop Rotation Realism
Every season (or every 4 weeks in base game):
Sell all harvested crops (except greenhouse plants).
Deduct the earnings—"Nobody’s paying top dollar for last season’s wilted parsnips!"
Plant new crops (soil doesn’t rest, and neither do you!).
💰 Pay for Every Improvement
Upgrades Aren’t Free!
Charge yourself for:
Electrical wiring ("The power company doesn’t work for free!")
Plumbing repairs ("That leaky pipe won’t fix itself!")
Roof patches ("Storm season is coming — better pay up!")
See Upgrades List (below) for specific costs.
🛒 Approved Selling Methods
You CAN profit fairly from:
Handcrafted goods (jams, paintings, furniture)
Collectibles (fossils, gems, etc)
Sell via: Inventory, Retail Store, Market Table, or Plopsy (get that artisan hustle going!).
⚖️ CC Rules: Pay Fair Value
Custom Content (CC) is allowed, but:
No "freebies" — price CC items based on comparable EA items (e.g., a CC chair priced like a base-game chair).
Action Required: Use cheats to deduct the cost immediately after placing CC.
(Example: Found a cute CC rocking chair? Charge yourself §500 — just like the game would!)
Weekly Farm Tasks: Earn Your Keep!
📌Core Rules:
✅ Optional but Rewarding – Complete tasks for bonuses.
⏳ Strict Timing – Each task is locked to its designated week (e.g., Week 2’s task can’t be done in Week 4).
⌛ No Extensions – You have exactly one in-game week to finish — farm life waits for no one!
🔁 Recycle Tasks – Run out of tasks? Restart the list from the beginning (the work never ends!).
Restrictions: Embrace the Struggle!
🚫 Family & Pets
Start as a single Sim — no pre-made families or spouses.
Pets are a luxury, not a right! You must purchase the "Pet License" upgrade (see Upgrades List) before adopting.
⛔ No Cheating Reality!

Tips
Money
Painting is most profitable, but flower arrangement is good too.
If you want to abuse rules then you can simply buy bunch of roses via phone (purchase gifts...) and plant them. Very profitable little things.
Most of the collectibles I found was in parks of Willow Creek, Oasis Springs and Brindleton Bay.
You can leave plants on ground and make cheap planter box using low heigh fence or dirt tiles.
Thank you for reading my challenge! I haven’t playtested it. I also fixed the text using AI because I’m not a native English speaker.
