Thinking abt BoTW Xavier/MC au where Xavier is raised with the weight of the world on his shoulders and the growing tension of his power not fully awakening and growing frustration towards MC who seemingly awakens her triforce power so easily - as naturally as breathing - while most he can do is summon a small ball of divine light in his palm.
Thinking abt BoTW au Prince Xavier wo gets MC assigned as his personal guard despite constantly studying and training his own swordfighting. He's lowkey offended anyone thinks he needs a personal knight until the two spar and MC is the first person to match his own skill with a blade.
BoTW!Xavier who tries to loose his personal knight Champion!MC so he can study the sheikah tech that has slowly been uncovered by researches in the kingdom only for MC to pop out of nowhere scaring the shit out of surprising Prince!Xavier with her appearance only to shout at her to leave him alone already
BoTW! AU Champion!MC who never planned to have the weight of the world thrust upon her shoulders when the fabled sword chooses her, she just grabbed the first weapon she saw when spies came out of nowhere to assassinate Prince Xavier
BoTW AU where the silent stoic MC is that one that somehow charms the champions of hyrule - Goron champion Styrus, Zora champion Rafayel, Hebra Champion Colonel Caleb, and Gerudo region Champion [God of Annihilation] Zayne.
BoTW!AU MC who has a complicated relationship with Champion!Caleb and Zora Champion Rafayel. Caleb who left to train in the gerudo region and who MC hasn't seen in years and is still overprotective over the girl he was raised with and never wanted to see her raise a sword or face danger. Rafayel who met MC when knight!Josephine took her to the region on a mission and fell for her when they were both kids.
Thinking about all the interpersonal drama that would crop up between the 6 of them while faced with the immanent return of evil incarnate
Synopsis: BotW Au was sparked bc i started a replay of BotW while being LaDS brainrotted. Xavier x MC centric. The other guys are the 4 champions I swear they better not release a 6th LI or he's gonna be gannon
Xavier - Crown Prince of Hyrule
MC - Hero of the Wild/Wielder of the Sword that Seals the Darkness
Ok so i've written a bit abt Xavier, Rafayel, MC, and Caleb, but what about Sylus and Zayne?
Im thinking pre-calamity when its all the champions running about, Dragon!Sylus is the Goron Champion and God of Annihilation!Zayne is the Gerudo champion. I'm playing with Zelda lore a bit with this au and Gorons are now more draconic and, while the gerudo are still overwhelmingly female, the occasional man crops up; more like a 1/1000 births chance vs 1 every 100 years. Being male doesn't automatically make anyone king unless born to the royal family, but there is the superstition that a male gerudo will bring about destruction so they're often raised strictly through community efforts to avoid misfortune (((If you've seen Genie Make a Wish on netflix, it's similar to how ever member of the community works to raise the FMC to be a productive and positive member of the village in spite of her sociopathy and violent urges through kindness, patience, and redirection)).
Now on to the juicy bits~
Champion Dragon!Sylus is the Goron Champion. Gorons are more fiends/dragons in this AU. They seem a little monstrous and intimidating, but like most people in hyrule, they just wanna do their own thing. Gems, Ore, and spices are a common export from the region so merchants are often coming and going. Most Hyrulians rarely interact directly with the Fiends of the Goron region aside from traveling merchants. Yes, Beedle is in this au bc how could i not and Beedle is tight with some fiends, notably Sylus. Now Sylus here is interesting bc he's not 100% fiend. I haven't checked the dragon myth in a minute so bare with any inaccuracies.
Sylus in this AU is Half Fiend. He has a more human appearance mixed with his dragon attributes. Since most people outside of a select few blessed by the goddess Hylia herself have ever even seen a dragon, so to both fiend and human alike, Sylus is unnerving. Sylus had a rough childhood, his mom (the fiend half) died when he was young and his horns, tail, and claws often scared away normal humans, thinking him a monster. He did interact with MC a few times as children thanks to Josephine traveling to the Goron region for gem components for her experiments. Around the Goron stable, MC wandered off and stumbled into a cave where she found kid!DragonSylus. She befriended him, saying she liked his horns and tail, they were cool! and they ended up playing together. Having another kid not run screaming from him and treat him with kindness made Sylus want to grow up and want to be better and happier than he was at present. As time passed, he got stronger, confident, and smarter. he was able to amass wealth and power thanks to a traveling merchant that cared more for coin and insects than Sylus' appearance and also began tinkering with various materials and mechanical things. Given the resources, he likely would have had a lab like Robby's in BOTW. As an adult, Sylus has a mechanical bird be constucted using some Sheikah tech remnants and named him Mephesto. He modeled it after the crows he and MC chased around the Goron Stable as kids.
Upon meeting back up again as adults, they're surprised to see each other and actually don't recognize each other at first. While Champion!Sylus definitely likes MC, in this particular AU he can see how MC looks at Prince Xavier and how Prince Xavier stares at MC when she isn't looking and understands who has won her heart. He develops a soft spot for MC and joins their cause. He uses the excuse that 'who would buy my gems during this calamity? My business would be ruined ha 💸ha 💸 ha 💸' While the group is in the Goron region, he often encourages MC to go for what she wants, and after the Sword that Seals the Darkness chooses her, they have a long conversion again about what MC actually wants to do, not what the fates demand of her. She vents to him that this is all so much and she never planned on being the hero, but now that its come to this, she wants to help, she wants to protect the people of Hyrule with her power. Sylus ends up quickly developing a soft spot for her and wants the best for her, even if that means leaving the knights if that's what she actually wants outside of duty and familial/the king's expectations.
wow this got long. Zayne's part is coming tomorrow!
So in BoTW!au GoA!Zayne is the Gerudo region champion. I this au the world building is a lil different from the game world building. Male Gerudo are still fairly rare and when the do crop up there is a superstition around them being harbringers of doom/chaos, sooooo rather than turning this into a self fulfilling prophesy, the community tends to gather and work together to make sure they grow up to be upstanding members of the community with a solid understanding and moral compass.
Despite this, some gerudo males grow up with the feeling of being 'other' and get guilt and feel the need to always do better (thanks Ganondorf -_- )
Enter Zayne
Zayne was born in the Gerudo area and raised with those standards. Due to those superstitions, he feels the need to always be as good as possible, so he studied hard, trained hard, and even learned first aid/basic medicine to help others. Not to mention he fear that his lightning powers my get out of control and hurt those he cares about.
Champion!Zayne and Champion!MC and Champion!Caleb all met as kids when Josephine took them all to the Gerudo region. Zayne was a studious little kid that love hydromelon treats and he wanted to bring his new friends to get some hydromelons. they encountered a monster - maybe even a mulduga - and Zayne's lightning powers went out of control in a panic. MC was hit and got send flying - somehow wasn't badly hurt, caleb rushed to her to help and luckily Gerudo guards saw the lightning and rushed to investigate. Zayne's lightning was able to hold back the monster until they arrived, but Zayne ended up with some nasty lightning burns on his arms.
Post that accident, Zayne threw himself into studies and training to ensure that would never happen again.
As an adult, he has perfect control over his lightning powers and tends to use a special gerudo-made bow to hone/focus his abilities when fighting. Still love hydromelon treats, can only drink virgin noble pursuits bc the alcohol effects him so strongly. He also has a soft spot for sand seals.
But when the Champions and Prince Xavier and MC come calling, Zayne is the most hesitant to join. He still bears the scars of that accident he had with Caleb and MC as kids. He fells responsible for protecting the Gerudo region from Yiga Clan spies and Mulduga (which he also hunts when necessary bc Mulduga guts are a useful medicinal ingredient. He turns down the offer at first and is also very concerned that MC is casually waving around and playing with a blade twice her height.
Caleb and MC both end up convincing Zayne to join the Champions after they drag him out to the desert and show him how strong and capable they've both gotten.
Zayne Def ends up being the group healer and team mom ((prove me wrong)) Caleb and MC lowkey keep encouraging him to use his electric bow skill more often in combat bc its cool af.

Synopsis: the 17th memory you collect in Breath of the Wild, but make it Xavier/MC
A/N: I literally typed this out before rewatched the memory on youtube so I ended up tweaking a few things. Sorry not sorry for the angst :3
Botw masterpost here
This wasn’t supposed to happen.
Prince Xavier’s eyes widened
None of this was supposed to happen.
Here’s what was supposed to happen: he was supposed to awaken his powers with the rest of the champions, he was supposed to open and strengthen his connection with the goddess after years of praying and trying to forge a connection like his predecessors – like his mother and his great grandfather and so many other ancestors – and then he and the other champions were supposed to work together with the warrior chosen by the sword that seals the darkness and seal away Calamity Ever.
Instead, he had lost everything.
Sylus, Rafayel, Caleb, Zayne, the divine beasts, his father, the kingdom, the Guardians, EVERYTHING!
“NOOOOOOOO!” The cry is full of devastation as Prince Xavier watched the red energy beam burst out of the Guardian’s eye and hits you square in the chest.
As he and the champions walked away from the Spring of Wisdom’s entrance at the bottom of the mountain, it struck. The shadowy intangible form seemed to fill the entire sky as it descended upon the group.
He cries out your name as your limp body hits the ground. Devastation and grief and shock all overwhelming his mind as the smell of burnt leather and charred flesh and the sharp tang of iron overrides and grass and rain.
None of this should have happened.
If only he had been better.
The champions had scattered to their divine beasts, grateful that the sheikha tech was able Captain Jenna, Dr. Greyson, and Jeremiah had researched and worked on was able to teleport the champions to their respective beasts. You and Prince Xavier had teleported to the castle, planning to try and regroup with the Royal Guard and form a plan to defeat Ever without Prince Xavier’s divine powers.
You push out a weak groan as you struggle to roll over to your side.
You need to get to your sword.
You need to protect your prince.
You need to keep him safe until you draw your final breath.
But it’s so hard to move; your muscles and tendons protesting the very act of breathing. Your knee and elbow slip in the mud and your burnt, broken body collapses back to the muddy ground with a groan, your legendary sword just out of reach.
The two of you hadn’t expected the carnage you would arrive to. Calamity Ever had somehow gained control of the Sheikah automatons scattered about the palace. While Sheikah researchers had been excavating the Guardians and other automatons from under the palace and Castle Town, the discoveries Prince Xavier and the other researchers had been able to uncover had only awakened a single guardian thus far. Not the hundreds that skittered and flew around the palace like a disturbed nest of hornets, firing upon or tramping anything that moved with the efficiency never seen at a human scale. At once, a flying automaton zeroed in Xavier’s head and you had just barely avoided the energy beam that burst out of it by ducking into a guard tower near Xavier’s private study.
Xavier’s knees hit the ground hard where you fell. His breath comes in fast shallow gasps as adrenalin and dread course through his veins. He can’t feel the chill of the rain anymore, nor can he feel the dreaded stomping of the approaching guardians, or the sounds as they charge up their energy beam.
Xavier’s trembling hand reaches for your crumped form, hesitant at first, until he hears you grit out his name, barely louder than his own gasps.
As you and Prince Xavier snuck through the hidden passages to the hidden basement dock, screams and explosions sounded above. He heard the first SOS ring out from the slate secured at his hip. Caleb was in trouble. Dread made its home in the prince’s gut. You quickly notched an arrow in your bow and shot a handful of bokoblins that had somehow snuck into the passageway with a shock arrow. You had suggested making a run for Kakariko Village, somewhere out of the way safely nestled in the mountains of the Sahasra and the Pillars of Levia and Quatta’s Shelf. It was also fairly close to the Lanayryu Great Spring – where Rafayel had settled his Divine Beast, Vah Ruta. Once the two of you had escaped the palace, you planned to beeline it for the village, meet up with the other champions to regroup, to form some kind of plan. Then the second SOS chimed out from Rafayel and the dread sunk its claws deeper.
He gathers you to his chest, desperate to shield your own body with his own – to give you some bit of protection as your certain doom inches closer. You lean your weight onto him, get into a kneeling position, and grab your sword, glaring at the enemies closing in.
He should have been better.
He should have studied the sheikah tech and guardians and divine beasts better.
He should have prayed to the Goddess harder.
As you wading your way through the Squabble River, stealthily avoiding lizafos and Guardians from their onslaught, a third SOS chimed – Zayne, and as you passed the Dueling Peaks, the fourth and final SOS came from Sylus. Hope diminished with each sound that came from the slate. Xavier couldn’t control his own body as the grief threatened to swallow him whole and tripped, collapsing in the mud. He cursed his weakness, his inability to harness his divine power. You looked on sympathetically as tears of frustration and despair streamed down his face, mixing with the rain. ‘I left them all to die’ the realization hit like a ton of bricks and collapsed into your arms. You held him to your chest, letting your prince express his grief. You were feeling it too, the horror and grief knowing your friends were trapped in their divine beasts, corrupted and haunted by the Calamity’s dark powers.
After a moment you both came to a quiet understanding. If you had any hope of freeing the other champions or of recovering them, you needed to move. You needed to live. You needed to keep moving.
He could have trained harder, he could have convinced his father to train the guard with the revived guardians so they stood a chance, he could have done so much more.
But Fort Hateno was right there.
It was so close.
But so were the enraged Guardians.
You were deflecting the Guardians’ beams with the Legendary Sword and chopping off their spindly legs as you both made your way through the clearing.
But you had also taken numerous hits from their legs and gotten grazed by the laser beams and the toll of the night was wearing you thin. Scrapes and rips and burn marks marred your blue champion’s tunic and your ragged breath shoved the feelings of his own inadequacies.
He should have been kinder to you.
Could have –
His swirling thoughts fade away when your hand weakly grips his sleeve, and in that moment, this is all that matters.
He was going to protect you.
The wrrrrr of the Guardian’s laser powering up beaks that moment as Xavier’s eyes snap up, arm whipping out in front of him as warmth floods his rain-chilled body as a golden light floods the clearing.
Xavier watched in disbelief as the whirling pink and red blinks once then fades out of the Guardian’s eye as its large form freezes then crashed to the ground, sending mud flying. The deafening sound of it crashing to the ground resounds and multiplies as the other Guardians in the cleaning follow its lead and a speck of hope illuminates Xavier’s heart – small and weak, but there and glowing nonetheless. A smile of disbelief creeps onto his face for a moment.
With a near silent groan, you go limp against his form, your injuries finally getting the best of you now that the immediate danger is gone. Xavier is quick to catch and support your form, with your heavy head cradled against his shoulder. He called out your name.
“Xav . . .” you start to say, but darkness consumes you.
Xavier calls your name louder as you become dead weight in his arms.
“No! Get up! No, no, nonono! My knight, wake up, please! Come back to me!” Xavier desperately pleads. His voice cracks at the end as he presses his forehead to yours. When you don’t respond, a sob escapes his throat. He can’t tell if tears are falling or if the rain his just doubled its efforts on this horrible day.
A soft humming catches his attention, and he brings his head up to gaze at the dented and dirtied sword resting in the mud. It glows a soft blue, light pulsing in time with the humming and, somehow, Xavier just knows it’s the spirit of the Legendary Sword.
“The sword . . .” He murmurs, the legends from ancient dusty texts from the royal library slowly fill his mind. “So she can still be saved . . .?”
It glows and dims in reply and Xavier’s resolve returns as he hears something in the distance.
“Your highness!”
“Prince Xavier!”
“Over here!”
He glances up to see two soldiers from Kakariko village running down the path, vaulting over the fallen guardians with an ease that only comes from years of constant training. They come to a stop in front of him.
He would protect you this time.
He wouldn’t let you fall to Ever’s cruelty.
A plan formed, a final hope against their abysmal odds. But that small hope was still shining in his chest.
“Take her to the Shrine of Resurrection. If you don’t get her there immediately, we are going to loose her forever!” He wiped some of the mud off your cheek, which was growing cold from the rain, “So make haste and go! Her life is now in your hands!”
The Kakariko soldiers eased your limp body onto one of their backs and off them went. The legendary sword was left in Xavier’s hold as he still sat kneeling in the mud, singed and dented and weak from the onslaught.
“Your master will come for you,” he murmured to the blade.
Prince Xavier got up, securing the blade to the belt of his dirty ceremonial robes he had meant only to wear at the Spring of Wisdom that morning and started walking to the Forgotten Woods.
Nothing would stand in his way on his journey there. And nothing would stop him for what he had to do once he had put the Sword to rest at the base of the Great Deku Tree. Xavier was the only one who would be able to hold off the Calamity until you awakened
This time he will ensure a happy ending, no matter what the cost, no matter how long it took.
so ya know how in botw/warriors of hyrule Link eats a rock roast to make friends with Daruk?
Yeah that but Xavier tries the rock roast instead of MC.
Prince Xavier had the stomach of iron between the 2 of the. Champion!MC is always down to try new things and, before they recruit caleb, tends to be the group cook when they make camp, but she knows better than to try and eat a whole ass rock.
Xavier tho . . . Sylus didn't even offer him any, just mentioned some Fiends enjoy eating Rock Roast and that it's a delicacy native to the area and Xavier was like "bet" and chomped down.
Much to yhe horror of both MC and bemusement/shock of Sylus.
