So i checked out this show called Prisoner Zero and I gotta say it’s pretty awesome
I see why it was only shown on Netflix over here I guess. Why? Because they made a Sci-fi series that had a very diverse caste and had the courage not to hide it. The animation is different with a mix of flash style animation and 3d animation. The characters are not only diverse but interesting especially the villains.
1st May, Lady Kai
The Calendar Woman for 1st May is Lady Kai (possibly 1572-unknown)
Kaihime, or Lady Kai, was a semi-legendary noblewoman who fought to protect her father’s castle when it fell under siege in 1590. Her father, Narita Ujinaga, was a retainer of the Late Hōjō clan, one of the most powerful warrior clans in Japan during the Sengokue period. The clan was under threat from Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who sought to eliminate them and the Oshi Castle was besieged for several months. In June 1590, Ishida Mitsunari – one of Hideyoshi’s samurai’s - led a 20,000 strong army against the castle, but due to bad planning they were nearly wiped out by a water attack from the Hōjō fighters and Lady Kai volunteered to lead a small force of only 200 warriors to defeat the remaining soldiers. Despite killing several vital members of the attacking force, the Hōjō clan eventually surrendered in an attempt at peace and both Lady Kai and her father were taken prisoner.
Whilst being held captive, Lady Kai heard about the murder of her mother-in-law during an internal rebellion and so she decided to take matters into her own hands, taking up a sword and killing the instigators. Although she successfully halted the rebellion in its tracks, her actions caught the attention of Hideyoshi who decided to make her one of his concubines. Not particularly impressed with this outcome, Lady Kai is then said to have fled with another of Hideyori’s concubines and his own daughter, the three of them becoming nuns at Tokei-ji, a refuge for abused women that has come to become known as the ‘Divorce Temple’.
