Little Lady update!

Finally got her dog tag on her collar (she was horribly offended I had to take her collar off to put it on) and it looks really good on her! She didn't want me taking a photo of it of course but my mother got a lovely photo of it (second photo and gods am I offended).

Also used the de-shedder brush that a lovely person on her bought from the wishlist for her. It did an AMAZING job. She went from scruffy, kinda patchy groomed (from over-enthusiastic doggo at the adopters home) to a sleek, smooth coat and she honestly enjoyed it. She even let me groom her tail!

Side-Note: anyone with a collie dog knows that they are Very Tetchy about their tails being groomed lmao so definitely a mark of how much she liked it.

I got to trim her nails down shortly after she arrived back with us and again a little later since they were quite grown and I didn't want to trim them too much all at once. This mostly limits how much the nails crack and flake off old bits of nail sometimes and was a good choice on my part.

She still has to see our vet but they're pretty busy at the moment and its for a general check up so that may, unfortunately, be delayed until after Christmas, depending on their workload. Of course, if we have any serious concerns for her, we can make an immediate appointment no problem.

Also, not related to Lady but something I'm kinda happy about on my behalf:

Marley murdered Troy's favourite chicken toy yesterday. Its literally a roast chicken plush and he killed it to get the squeak out (he doesn't eat them, just likes ripping them out and killing them further, the gremlin). Well, Troy was very not happy so of course, surgery was required.

I am not good at sewing, just so you all know.

I managed to do a ladder stitch to repair it and it looks nearly good as new. He took it from me so gently and spent an hour just licking over the new surgical scars that showed his chicken had been saved for another day.

I’m having a horrid day. Any kind words, words of encouragement, or even just regular conversations right now would be spectacular.

I always encourage people to reach out to each other when they’re in need, so here I am. All I want is to chat with some people and get my mind off of stuff.

If anyone has any FAHC fic recs (any ships/no ships/anything is fine) then I’d be absolutely delighted.

Btw, don’t feel bad for scrolling past this. You do what you need to do to keep yourself in a positive or manageable head space. Do not jeopardize your current happy atmosphere just to comfort me if you know that interacting with me right now will bring you down. Remember: be kind to yourself. Don’t feel guilty for skipping past this drama about my cat.

Lady got playful today with Troy and Marley. Well, partly. Troy, unfortunately, gets barky when he is playful and well, Lady has collie hearing so Ow.

Marley stole Troy's toy chicken in retribution and I got to laugh at it all while Troy went Feral trying to get it back while Marley ran around with it.

She's healing, but its slow. Time is what she needs and time is what she's getting from us.

That and sausages as a high-value treat, of course. Can't forget about those.

Lady passed away at 12:40am.

She had been improving a small amount, and then she started vomiting up a clear goo.

Vomited for approx 20 min, started gasping for air then passed.

She is being left her in her enclosure to make sure, but she has 0 response to any stimulation, no breathing and is 100% limp.

I’m pretty upset right now so more a more detailed update in the morning.

She was strong until the very end.

Lady is going down hill.

She just saw the vet and was perfectly fine, but on the way home she started to go limp and breathe so far apart I thought she was dead.

She perked up and opened her eyes and moved around a little then laid back down and did it again.

We’re home now and I legitimately thought she was dead. I turned her over, made her feel like she was falling, everything under the sun that would make a beardie react and nothing. Just limp.

I opened her mouth up and she resisted, but kept it open and then took a huge breath that sounded very hoarse. Like she has water in her lungs/air way.

As of right now I don’t see her breathing unless I do that. I don’t know how long she can hold her breath for but I don’t wait very long before I open her mouth again. She’s obviously annoyed when I do it, but besides thrashing her head when I open her mouth she is unresponsive.

I set her down in her tank and am furiously watching her to make sure she breathes but I am very worried these will be her last few hours.

Please send good vibes/thoughts/prayers/ect for her. I thought we were reaching a point where I could feel safe and I was wrong.

Lady Update

She ate a roach yesterday and two today. She didn’t attack them, I killed the roach, opened her mouth and set them in there. She chewed them up and swallowed.

She has been drinking her water and her eyes aren’t so sunk in but her skin still is showing signs of dehydration.

She goes to the vet tomorrow to get a check up and see if she is fit to come with me to Kentucky. (I’ll be gone a week and a half and I intended to bring her with me to avoid having our house sitter have to take care of her. Plus I’m super attached and want her with me at all times.)

I’m going to talk to the vet about what other options I have for food with her, if he only wants me to try certain insects or should I go with veggies/fruits/ect. I know he just wants something in her GI track, all he’s worried about is it being empty.

She is mainly just sleeping all day, she will move occasionally to another spot in the enclosure but not much activity other then that.

Lady Update.

Today has been rough, she is pretty lethargic.

She was able to drink a little water and keep it down. However sometimes when she drinks it comes out her left nostril. So another thing to add onto the list to talk to the vet about on Tues.

I feel so bad for her, she is obviously hurting but she will still get up and walk around her enclosure occasionally.

Offered her Super worms and her favorite Dubias today with no luck. I’ll try again later. I’m not super worried if she doesn’t eat yet, as long as she has some water in her. She did show a -little- interest, as in she looked at one of the supers and watched it for a moment but only to lose interest and close her eyes a few moments later.

I will not resort to force feeding unless the vet suggests it.

I had started recording her because she was walking over to her water on her own. It cuts out right before it happens.
