hi, just wanted to say that someone has deleted all the links to the original artist on that studio ghibli post. theartofanimation always leaves a ton of social media links under their posts to promote the artists. it's too bad to see a post with 14 000 notes and all the links removed :/ just wanted to say, it's no critique of you.

second hand shops are quite common in norway too. even the small town i'm from has got one, run by the inner mission. there's also the salvation army running stores in the larger cities. and a lot of second hand bookstores :D salvation army has got mostly clothes? and then also a bit of nicknack and books etc but yes, second hand stores and flee markets organised by various local organisations.

oh, cool! flea markets/yard sales are suuuper common here in Sweden during the summer :D

at which point did seraph of the end make you cry? i'm gonna watch, but spoiling me is no big deal. i'm just curious :)

Oh gosh. I am obsessed with Owari (I call Seraph of the End “Owari,” by the way, so that’s why I say that! Just to clarify :D ). It took over my life and I just fell utterly in love with it. It was a slow burn in a way, but after episode 11, my entire world just began to revolve around it. 

It’s really not the best show ever. It’s got its cliches, it has its flaws, and I recognize these. But the characters, the story… it all charmed me. I just am unexplainably drawn to it. So needless to say, I’ve cried endless times over Owari, but the first time it was from the anime directly had to be when re-watching Season 1 and seeing Mika’s struggles. Seeing how he lived for four years, alone and surrounded by people he despises, including the murderer of his loved ones, who is quite literally in Mika’s personal space almost 24/7. The poor kid ended up becoming so traumatized that he just shut down entirely and refused to let his emotions show.

That is, until, Yuuichirou is mentioned, or when he appears. And just seeing Mika find that determination within him- that will to live… it’s all because of his deep, complex love for Yuu. He’s so passionate. He will do anything to make sure Yuu is safe, first and foremost, and happy. 

Yuu is his everything. Yuu is the sole purpose of his living.

On the outside, someone might be critical of my statement, because they’d see me as “too biased” for the ship of Mika and Yuu. However, I’m simply stating what’s canonical. 

Unfortunately, Mika has no individual character without Yuu- not after the events shown in episode 1.

We can talk about Yuu’s interests, Yuu’s ability to make friends, Yuu’s loved ones, Yuu’s character as an individual.

But Mika? Mika’s person got wiped out from years of pain, and his only hope was Yuu. Of course Mika will be obsessed with Yuu. Of course all Mika thinks about is Yuu. Of course Mika lives only for Yuu.

He has no individual desires, nothing selfish for himself only. Everything revolves around Yuu.

That’s sad, in a way. If only Mika had something unique to himself, but he doesn’t. But the one thing that does mean so much to him- Yuu- really means everything. And I can sort of resonate with that. I don’t have a singular person I feel this way about, but I am passionate about what I love. I will do anything for my passion and dream, which is to write a medieval historical fiction novel series. And I will stop at nothing to achieve it. In that way, history is my ‘Yuu-chan.’ It’s my everything, my aspiration, my goal in life. 

For that reason, Mika’s character touched my heart so deeply. I’m also a huge sucker for romance, so to me, their relationship is just beautiful. As you watch (and hopefully eventually read?) the series, you will notice that once Yuu realizes that Mika is alive, he mimics Mika in a sense that all he wants and all he aspires to do is to find Mika and protect him. Yuu’s passion is almost equal to Mika’s, finally, and then the reader/viewer really realizes that MikaYuu is not one-sided. Not at all.

And later scenes, which I really do not want to spoil, demonstrate their love for each other. Particularly episode 11 in season 2 made me cry, because I knew what was coming, but seeing and hearing it just broke me down.

Wow, that was an essay, but you asked me about Owari and I am in LOVE with Owari. I’m in love with Mika, with Yuu, with Mika and Yuu. I love all of the other characters as well (spare Kureto and Ferid), but that would take me ages to talk about. I just decided to focus on the aspect of Owari that I love the most, and that has to be Mika’s character and both Mika and Yuu’s deep, mutual love for each other. It melts my heart. I just adore them. And I hope it’s alright that I post this, I just wanted to share my thoughts with my followers as well! :)
