Spotted lady beetle, Coleomegilla maculata, a relatively common native species of lady beetle, sadly most of the most common lady beetles are not native these days. This one, interestingly, feeds an awful lot on pollen from flowers, and therefore I often catch it when collecting bees. This one was captured at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in the lovely marshes of Dorchester County Maryland. Photograph by Elizabeth Garcia.

There is currently a ladybug on my bedroom wall and I went to save it (put it outside) and it just explored my finger (groomed its face afterwards every time, don't know what that means!?) and refused to climb aboard so I decided it could stay because it might be too cold outside. I'm hoping it doesn't try and crawl in my bed with me, crawl in the vent, or fly into my overhead light tomorrow and become the next Icarus. HOLD ON IT TRIED TO FLY. THIS WAS A MISTAKE. THE ONLY LIGHT IN MY ROOM RN IS MY PHONE. I'M PLAYING FNAF WITH A LADYBUG. THIS IS WHAT I GET FOR BEING A GOOD SAMARITAN

Ladybeetles (specially Asian Ladybeetles) tend to enter people's houses in the fall because it's warm. They do hibernate however, so it should be fine to put them back outside where they belong.

I get it about ladybugs, they rly just waddle around like cats, like, theyre like: “WOAH did u just fucking touch me??? i’m gonna pretend i cant fly and just waddle away like a monitor lizard on its way to brunch. Then i’m going to fly so bad im gonna slam into your drivers seat window like a fucking piece of hail, yeah, i’m inside your house, don’t know how i got here? FUCK YOU” and they are so prideful little bugs for being so bad at everything, perfect, they will find a way to die in your carpet
