It is not often that I am at a loss for words. Many of you know that, but today I stood dumbfounded and crying whenever I opened up my early birthday present my sweet Sister Mandy gave me. There is not enough words I can actually say that would even come close to telling you how absolutely grateful I am for such a thoughtful thought out treasure. This may not be much to a lot of you but here is my own 113 YEAR OLD copy of Pride & Prejudice. Yes 113 years old... Published in 1906. Shipped here all the way from England and still having hand drawn pictures and all. ·We Were Liars· By: E.Lockhart

To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.. ..but please, let me first explain. After I was about 3/4ths of the way through We Were Liars I was exhausted from boredom. The characters in the book did nothing really but just go on throughout the typical day. Cady got headaches, people ate lunch, went swimming, fighting, drama, random island owned by a whole family. -That's pretty much what sums up the book for me. It wasn't until I was right at the point of pushing myself to the next page, that's when things changed. There was a twist, a BIG twist and then for the last 4 or 5 chapters I couldn't put it down. My main problem with that though is what's the point? Why make the whole book dragggg on just so people can applaud you for a great ending? I've never read anything from Lockhart but I'll say I'm not a fan of this one. Which truly is a disappointment because I read so many great reviews before I purchased it, got so excited for something spectacular and instead was given a bland storyline and mediocre characters who I attempted to like. Ill chalk We Were Liars up as a lose and move on to find another winner. I will say though that I made some fantastic tea while finishing this today and it made my day a little more pleasant. Starla and Eula have the kind of heart felt bond that most people can only dream of having. Whistling Past The Graveyard is uplifting but also realistic for being set in the summer of 1963. When people grew up knowing blacks and whites had different bathrooms and only certain restaurants served a certain race. When you could turn a corner and have a whole different group hate you for a whole different reason. Starla gave us insight on how growing up in a place like Mississippi can be challenging and rewarding as she takes on a journey with Eula, a random black lady traveling alone with a white baby. The outcome is life-changing. A MUST read!
