SING //Muse is more of a sadist but mu is just curious here! But we're both sure you're more talented than you're letting us on ;-)
If I get 10 'SING' s The Mun Shall Record Themselves Singing
[[ 5/10 Well I am enough of a contralto that I’ve sung Soprano 2 and Tenor parts before, the one year I did choir in HS. I’m pretty proud of that. But realistically… Idk I’ll let you all decide that. Just be gentle when you start throwing tomatoes. I should start think about what I should sing…. Balls.
I was tagged by ladyxerra to do this character questionnaire. I hope you're prepared for a bit of an adventure, dear, because I am an over-acheiver.
[I thought to myself, "wouldn't it be so fun if I filled it out like it was an actual interview that was being reported?"]
Rules:
1. Pick one of your OCs/canon characters
2. Fill in the questions/statements as if you were your character
3. Tag five people to do this meme
There is a plain wooden desk, placed in a rather spartan room, paired with two thickly cushioned chairs that are placed one on each side. The single door of the room opens, allowing entrance to first the interviewer, crisply dressed and generally cordial in demeanor, and secondly Ang, casually dressed and generally stormy in demeanor.
They sit, the interviewer with legs crossed primly, and Ang sprawled, with her legs propped up on the desk. It seems that no amount of polite requests, pokes, prods, or pushes will dislodge Ang's feet from this spot, so after a moment the interviewer gives up, sighs, and begins.
1. What is your name?
Ang presses her hand to the center of her chest. "My name? My name is Evangeline Claire Crescent, but I go by Ang. Or Angie. Or Evie. I'm not picky, actually."
The interviewer narrows shrewd eyes that, perhaps, see far too much.
1.1 what is your real name?
Chuckling, Ang splays her hands. "And who says that Evangeline isn't my real name?"
The interview cocks a brow.
Ang blows her bangs out of her eyes, which are rolling with enough sass to drown a horse. "Okay, you win. That isn't my real name -though I've gone by it so long that it's technically become my name.
"My real name is Ianthe -yes, it's pronounced eye-ahn-thee, but it's spelled I-A-N-T-H-E, make sure you write that down correctly - Clara Burnett."
2. Do you know why you were called that?
"Frankly, my name was a point of contention between my parents. My father wanted to name me after my mother, but my mother wanted to name me after my father's mother.
"Now, what you have to understand about my parents is that they both had heads as thick as a ram's. So, naturally, they were both so obstinate about their choices that they bickered all the way up to the night that I was born. They would have gone longer, too, but that night was special."
She takes on a thoughtful gaze, the kind that comes with reciting a story that has been told to a person many times throughout childhood, so often that it becomes almost a memory in itself.
"They were traveling that evening. I wasn't due for another month; they figured it would be safe." Ang smirked. "Unfortunately, for our kind, labor is often far more sudden than it is for others."
"My mother ended up giving birth to me, right there, in that carriage, with the wide open sky and all its stars for an audience. And it was a lovely night, too, warm, with sweet air and a purple sky, because the sun had just barely finished setting. My father used to rant about that sky. He would say that it was like the gods had spilled cans of paint in every shade of purple across the sky.
"Well, my parents were so impressed with that sky that they named me Ianthe -it means violet, you know- but in the end, my mother won the fight, because she squeezed my grandmother's name between my first name and my last -and my father figured that my mother had done most of the work, so he really had no place to argue."
Ang blinks away the remnants of nostalgia and smiles timidly. "I'm sorry, I've never really told anyone that story before."
The interviewer doesn't complain. This is so much more than was originally bargained for.
"Now, I go by my mother's name -Evangeline- and my father's maiden name -Crescent- because my original name has developed some rather...unsavory connections."
3. Are you single or taken?
Ang looks down and picks at a speck of imaginary dirt beneath her nail. "Single. None of my...relationships seem to last very long these days."
4. Have any abilities or powers?
"Well, I am a witch. Not a very good one, I'll admit, I can barely cast a simple flotation spell without messing something up, but a witch nonetheless. Also...."
She shifts, taking the full form of the interviewer. Her bones make little noises as they stretch, her hair snicks as it changes shape and length, and her eyes cloud over as they change in color.
The interviewer stares in shock, because this is like looking in a mirror.
Ang returns to her own form. "Besides that, I'm a 'shifter. I can shift two ways. One," she holds up a finger, "I can fully change the shape of my body, all the way down to the bones, like I just did. It takes a little extra effort, but in the long run, it's easier to hold. Two," she holds up two fingers and becomes momentarily distracted, pretending that her hand is a bunny, "two, I can make an illusion of having changed shape, but that works better for a temporary thing, because it requires a lot of concentration and concentration isn't easy for me.
"And -this is important- I can only change my shape from human to human. I can't be an animal. I can toggle the color of my skin to all kinds of outlandish colors and stuff, and mimic animal sounds with limited success, but I can't mimic animal features."
5. Stop being a Mary Sue!
"Why don't you stop being a Mary Sue?"
The interviewer shrugs, because in this case, that's actually pretty close to the truth.
[whoops I think I just cracked the fourth wall...]
6. What’s your eye color?
"Naturally? Blue-green," says Ang, and indeed her eyes are dark, intricate turquoise. She has those eyes, the kind that will swallow you right up and drown you if you look too long. Around the pupil is a ring of light honey-amber, from which a cacophony of white spokes branch.
The interview blinks, and turns attention to the meticulously crafted notes that are in the process of being composed.
7. How about your hair color?
"This is my natural hair." Ang tugs at a strand of her brown hair. It is a shiny, curly, wildly tangled mess that falls against her shoulders and almost seems to have a mind of its own. It definitely has an obvious crimson cast to it, but it also has an almost brassy quality.
Curious.
8. Have you any family members?
Ang shuts down, closed as tightly as hurricane glass against a light breeze. "No," she says simply. "Not anymore. I have my friends, and that's enough for me."
Somehow, the interviewer does not believe that this is enough for Ang.
9. Oh? What about pets?
"Pets?" Ang coughs out a little laugh, as if sharing a joke with herself -and she probably is. "Unless you count plants, no. I tend not to keep animals; their lifespans are so short, and it's so disappointing when they pass."
10. That’s cool I guess, now tell me about something you don’t like.
Ang snorts. "I have to choose just one? How about I say, 'people with strong ideals', and leave it at that?"
11. Do you have any hobbies/activities you like doing?
"Oh, let's see...singing, dancing, playing pranks on people and being a general nuisance, reading, and eating. I also like driving really fast. Sometimes it's nice to exercise my-" she wiggles her fingers with a smirk "-sticky fingers."
12. Ever hurt anyone before?
"Don't we all, at some point or another?" Her smile is half-cocked and wry. She jests, and yet...she doesn't.
13. Ever….killed anyone before?
Ang breaks eye contact, her eyes sliding to the side and tracing the walls and ceiling. She fidgets, restlessly, nervously. She stands and paces the length of the small room; her movements are jerky and forced, looking almost unnatural, and very uncomfortable.
She pauses to stroke the leaves of a potted ficus in the corner. Her body is positioned in a three quarter turn away from interviewer, and it is this position that reveals the true stress that this question raises in Ang.
Her shoulders are hunched, making her chest concave. The skin of her back is so tight that the interviewer can see the lines of Ang's bones through the sheer blouse that she wears.
The interviewer regrets asking this question.
"In interest of honesty, yes," answers Ang, simply, but in that yes is an untouched galaxy of nuances, pain, regret, and deeper, hidden meanings.
Through silent agreement, neither says anything else of this subject.
14. What kind of animal are you?
With a sudden burst of levity, Ang shakes away the gloom of the last question and does a little dance. "I'm a party animal!" she croons.
The interviewer fights the urge to face-palm.
15. Name your worst habits.
She has returned to her chair by now. Again, her ankles are crossed on the desk. Ang grins with feigned sheepishness. "Well, this, I guess. Getting too comfortable, making myself at home in places where I shouldn't." She wrinkles her nose and scowls. "I'm really impulsive, too. Always getting myself into trouble."
The interviewer can believe that.
16. Do you look up to anyone at all?
"I did, once upon a time. Now? Not so much."
17. Gay, straight, or bisexual?
"Oh, I swing both ways."
The interviewer remains confused.
Ang rolls her eyes and huffs. "I'm bisexual. I like ladies and gentlemen equally, but between the two, I probably have a preference for...uh..." her eyes grow wide. "Uh, let me think about that for awhile."
18. Do you go to school?
Ang shrugs. "I never really went to school. The option to go to a 'Craft Academy has always been open to me, but I never really had the urge. My friend Eleazar tutors me in magic whenever he finds the patience and courage to do so. Which is seldom."
19. Do you ever want to marry and have kids one day?
Ang blinks slowly, licks her lips, and looks down.
"Why would I ever want children?" she asks, and there's a strong, bitter, acidic flavor there. "They're loud, and smelly, and dirty, and fragile, and...and..."
She sighs. "And even if I did want children, I couldn't. And I wouldn't want to marry, either. Forever is a long time to be saddled with just one person."
20. Do you have any fanboys/fangirls?
Ang preens. "Probably not, but I should. I am pretty great."
The interviewer snorts.
"Hey!"
21. What are you most afraid of?
Ang opens her mouth, but seems to think better of her original answer. She seems almost melancholic as she shakes her head. "Um, I'm really afraid of...loosing people I care about."
The interviewer decides not to press.
22. What do you usually wear?
"Depends on my mood. I hear the words 'eclectic', 'boho', and 'hipster' often." For probably the umpteenth time, Ang shrugs. "I'm seriously fond of lace and leather. I like boots that are soft and comfy. Right now -" she indicates her outfit, which is a noisy marriage between an almost-sheer, girlishly mauve blouse and jeans that saw their best days years ago "I'm really feeling this. But tomorrow? Maybe it'll be studs and leather. Who knows?"
The interviewer has an opinion, and a very strong one at that, but keeps the opinion firmly where it belongs: inside, and unspoken.
"Oh! And I nearly forgot." Ang grins indulgently. "I also have formal battle armor, from the old days. From, uh, the war. And also, you're requred to wear formal armor when the High Court adjourns. I don't actually have any reason to wear it lately, but sometimes it's fun to break it out."
23. Do you love someone?
Ang blinks, and, in a tone of voice that's surprisingly sincere, says, "Of course I do. I love my friends dearly."
24. When was the last time you wet yourself?
For once, Ang is purely speechless in a mixture of shock, disbelief, amusement, and befuddlement. "Uh...I fail to see how this important to the definition of me as a person? And I don't really know. I'm sure I was a child at the time."
25. Well, it’s not over yet!
Ang groans. "Oh, come on! How much longer is this going to take?"
The interviewer gives her the look of an exasperated parent, and almost says that the sentiment is seconded, but decides against it and moves on.
26. What class are you?(High class, middle class, low class)
Ang puckers her lips in thought and chews on her cheeks. "Well...probably lower middle class in terms of the Supremi Atrium Noctis. I used to have some influence in the Court as the Medial Laureate."
With all the unfamiliar words, the interviewer became quite confused. Ang must've been in a magnanimous mood at the moment, because she chooses to explain.
"The Supremi is the High Court, comprised of delegates from each of the five immortal species. They vote to create laws, pass on punishments, settle disputes, that sort of thing. The Medial Laureate is a part of the High Council. He or she, usually working with another M.L., settles disputes and essentially metes out punishments and rewards for cases that are too petty to involve the king.
"Anyways, I was pretty influential, but I got fired after it was determined that I could no longer be a neutral party. So there's lots of people that still know who I am and respect my opinion, but for the most part, I'm just another face in the crowd." The corner of her mouth quirks. "It doesn't help that I've, uh, clouded my reputation with a few naughty deeds."
27. How many friends do you have?
She ticks them off on her fingers, one by one. "Let's see...there's Ky, of course," her tone is fond; he, obviously, is significant in some way. It's written in the soft features of her face. "And I've recently become friends with this dork named Eleazar." She becomes almost...motherly, nurturing. Her voice is filled with both warmth and protectiveness, as if he is a child that undoubtedly relies on her. "There's Rilee, but I'm not sure if she really constitutes as a friend because she's kind of friends with everyone. She's just...nice. And sometimes there's Anton and Rowan, but that's a bit of a rare thing. And then -"
Now she blushes, her face red as the deepest part of a rose, and her nose wrinkled. "Then there's Dodger, can't forget her. So that's, uh, three close friends. And three not as close friends."
The interviewer almost wonders what kind of friendship that last one is, to make such a shameless person blush so brightly.
28. What are your thoughts on pie?
Ang automatically perks up, eyes bright, brows high, and mouth held in a wide smile. "Pie? Now, my friend, you are speaking my language. I adore pie. I could eat pie all day. Sometimes I do - don't look at me like that, you're greatly underestimating the wide variety of pies that exist. There's sausage and egg pie, pot pie, shepherd's pie, mince meat pie, rhubarb pie, pudding pie, custard pie, apple pie..."
She rambles on and on, sharing her extensive knowledge on pies. Nearly four hundred years, it turns out, will give one quite a lot of cuisine to try.
The interviewer tries to be patient, but the time spent rambling about pie is considerable, and by the end of Ang's tirade, the interviewer is solemnly swearing to never even look at a pie again.
29. Favourite drink?
Ang's hands flail. "Oh! I know this one. Wait. No I don't." She fidgets as she thinks.
And thinks.
And thinks.
It takes awhile. The interview is right on the cusp of skipping the question when Ang startles and nearly shouts, "Eggnog! Definitely fresh, homemade eggnog, whether it's dirty or clean. Eggnog is the best."
30. What’s your favourite place?
This answer comes easily to her, falling from her lips before the question completely leaves the interviewer's mouth. "The library," says Ang. "And don't ask me which library. Any library is perfect."
The interviewer wonders how Ang can tolerate staying quiet long enough to enter a library.
31. Are you interested in someone~
Ang winks lasciviously. "I'm always interested in someone."
32. If you’re a girl, what’s your cup size, if you’re a guy, how big are you?
Ang peers down at her breasts, which each fill her hands, and not much else. She pouts, slightly, almost disappointed, before grinning mischievously.
The interviewer knows what's about to happen, right before it does, but doesn't have a chance to utter a single protest.
Ang shifts. Her bust is straining against her blouse, practically oozing out of the low-cut neckline. "I'd say I'm pretty well-endowed, wouldn't you?"
33. Would you rather swim in the lake or the ocean?
"I'm really not a strong swimmer. And even if I was, neither, because both bodies of water are pretty dirty."
34. What’s your type?
"Hmm..." Ang muses, tipping her head and staring at the ceiling girlishly. "In general, I kind of have a thing for lycanthropes. It might be because my paternal grandfather was a werewolf. In terms of aesthetic appeal, I like guys who are lean and kind of willowy -runner's bodies, you know? I have a deep appreciation for cuteness. Over the years, I've found that cuter boys tend to be more, uh..." she struggles for a word, snapping her fingers and narrowing her eyes, "expressive. They're more likely to wear hearts on their sleeves.
"As for women, it depends on my mood. But I adore leggy lasses. I'll never argue with a nice bustline, either.
"But you know what the hottest thing is?" Ang taps the side of her head. "Connection. Appearance comes second to connection."
35. Any fetishes?
She flutters her long lashes flirtatiously and primps her hair. "Oh, sweetheart," she purrs coyly. "I didn't know you were so interested in me."
Ang smiles. It is an intimidating smile, filled with sharp, gleaming teeth, and promises best left unkept. Realizing that this is probably a dangerous avenue of questioning, the interviewer stumbles over the words of the next question and sincerely regrets ever having adding these to the survey.
36. Seme or uke?
Ang tilts her head to the side curiously. "You know, I can't say I've ever heard those terms before. "
Reluctantly, the interviewer explains.
There is the faintest hint of a blush spreading across Ang's nose; nevertheless, she flashes a charming smile and leans across the desk. "I suppose that's just something you'd have to find out for yourself, isn't it?
Now it's the interviewer's turn to blush, and hastily change the subject.
37. Camping or indoors?
Ang's entire demeanor becomes bored. Apparently, this is a subject that doesn't much interest her.
The interviewer couldn't be more relieved.
"Indoors. I've had my fill of the outside."
38. Are you wanting the quiz to end?
"YES."
39. Now it’s over! Tag five people.
"It's about damn time." Ang stands, brushing her clothes off. "I would say that I've had great time, but I wouldn't mean it. So I won't. But have a nice life, okay?"
That being said, Ang spins on her heel and saunters for the door. On her way out, she knocks over the potted plant and smirks like a child that has just had her revenge.
After the door closes, the interviewer groans in relief and scrubs fingers through hair that, at this rate, will likely go prematurely gray.
This was way more than was originally bargained for.
40. Seriously not tagging people because I don't rp with anyone else o3o
If you made it this far, I have a huge amount of respect for you, and hope you enjoyed c;
I know I enjoyed writing it -it's so rare that I get to explore Ang from an outsider's perspective. It's really refreshing.
So I created this with the intention of sprucing up my characters and making them more intense, realistic, and three-dimensional.
Please note: not all of the information in this template will come up in your story, nor should all of the details be put into your story. These kinds of things are for your reference, for you to get to know your character, perhaps better than you know yourself.
Feel free to use this! Hopefully I have helped someone out there.
