Busy reading papers today. Some of this is refresher for me since I seemingly forgot about QTL and LD from class (oops), but majority is completely new to me. I’m at that stage in learning where it’s obvious to me how little I know, which hopefully means a tiny breakthrough is on the horizon 💡 Gonna finish up data visualization for lab tonight after work - wish me luck!

School officially starts this week which means less watercolor practice and more senior capstone

There were a bunch of books sitting by the garbages in this university building I was in and they were all about soil physics/plant biology/irrigation so naturally I grabbed them all! In between the pages though, I found syllabi and homeworks from 1970-80’s (holy crap!!). Come to find out, a professor died last summer and they were finally clearing out his office. It’s so eerie seeing little bits of him from when he was a student (undergrad and masters notes), especially knowing he’s since passed. Not sure if I should contact his family to see if they want his books back, but I figure they’ve had the opportunity to claim them since his passing. We shall see …

I think now that I’m older the one thing I have really come to appreciate is being secretive. Not in a “I’m ashamed of these things that have happened” way but in a “why should you know about that?” and “how does this benefit me?” type of way. There’s so many pieces of shit out there who know things about me I wish they didn’t now, but I can’t take that back. Also worth noting that I think there’s a pretty clear distinction between unashamed of who you are versus loud about who you are. These aren’t mutually exclusive either.
