About Larry and Marian...
... and also some observations from the trailer for episode 7.
I would like to start with how much I have loved to watch both of them being head over heels for one another, being happy and giddy. That smirk on Larry's face and that big smile on Marian's.
Then we all know what happened and while I'm very glad and happy for both Marian and Oscar that they are like siblings rather then cousins now, Oscar is sadly using the wrong worlds to explain where Larry was. I don't blame him for what happened. He tried to tell her she should talk to Larry and Ada, too. Sadly, she chose to listen to Agnes, being in panic mood she didn't listen to her heart and remember the many discussions she had with Larry and all she knew about him.
So she decides to break the engagement up. She is writing a letter and that's it? Really?
I remember watching that scene (when she is yaking the letter over to Church) very closely and I was almost a 100% sure that there was no ring in the envelope. But why? In the episode 7 trailer the ring has a very prominent role.
I've also noticed that she didn't seem to be very happy about her decision anymore, when talking a seat in her aunts living room, it's just Agnes who seems to resure her that she did the right thing. She doesn't seem to be so sure anymore.
I want to focus on a few scene from the trailer now.
Peggy asking Marian about Larry, Marian dismissing her
Larry reading the letter, not understanding why Marian left him asking his mother if she caused what happened
Larry trying to talk to Marian at her aunts
When he can't talk to her at home, he is visiting her at her school
If Peggy believed that Larry was misbehaving where he was, she wouldn't ask Marian about him. Also, I'm sure she sees Marian suffering because she is for sure missing Larry and possibly regretting that she didn't talk to him.
I think Peggy doesn't believe Larry did anything wrong, that it must have been a misunderstanding. Also, I'm sure she knows more about how men socialise than Marian, so she possibly suspects that what happened did happen due to some lack of communication.
I know the trailer focuses more on how both Larry and George suspect Bertha to have interfered and made Marian break up with Larry.
But how is it possible that Larry is unable to understand why Marian left him? What did she write him? She told Church Larry would understand. He didn't.
Clearly Larry knows they need to talk, he wants to know what happened and even visits her at her school.
Was Marian hoping he would try to talk to her if he can't at home he would visit her at her school?
I'm not convinced that she is sure that she made the right decision.
