Original French turn of the century poster by Theopile-Alexandre Steinlen, circa 1890s. "Le Journal" was a Parisian daily newspaper printed in a small four page format. This issue advertises the publication of the controversial story "La Traite Blanches" by Laforest. Swiss born Steinlen (1859-1923) spent most of his career in Montmartre, where, along with Toulouse-Lautrec, he produced some of the most recognizable posters of the Belle Epoque period.
