Lafossaite is a prick. Yeah that’s it, that’s his personality.
He has a superiority complex even being one of the shortest Gems in the entire Village, and being extremely breakable (even if his hardness is not the lowest of them all). His ego is so big his right arm, made of Thallium, an incredibly poisonous metal, decided to act on his own and attack him sometimes, because not even him can’t take Fossa’s shit anymore.
He’s a thallium salt, and he’s very, VERY toxic and dangerous. He lives alone, in his laboratory at the extreme periphery of the Outer Village, and not many can get near him- except the ones that already have Thallium in their bodies, like Routhierite. Routh is a sweet young Gem and can almost be considered his friend, and surely the only one standing Fossa’s ego.
Fossa’s job is “death researcher” or “mortician”: he studies “death”, this concept that Gems can’t understand. He’s often questioned by the philosophers and thinkers of the Inner Village, but, as always, Fossa thinks he’s better than them. He considers science superior to philosphy, and loves other scientists like Wulfenite, Munakataite, Mellite or Mackayite, but they don’t really like him back.
Lafossaite is a strange gem: he is a salt mainly composed by Thallium, an incredibly unstable and poisonous metal.
He was born without the right arm, replaced by Thallium, but Fossa can't control it most of the time! It's very dangerous and can also break himself. He mostly wears a glove coloured with Prussian Blue colouring- the only thing stopping Thallium's poison, and that makes his powerful arm more manageable.
He uses it for his researches on "death", a strange concept gems can't quite grasp yet.
Fossa is EXTREMELY toxic, but his carefree attitude doesnt show it. He's however less naive than he looks- he's very smart, cunning and up to no good.
Fossa used to be very concerned about his toxicity, so much he lost his right hand trying to "cure" it. But poison (thallium) came of of the stump and formed a new, deadly toxic hand he can't control and often attacks his owner. It's ok. Nothing is perfect. He invented a glove made of Prussian Blue to control it, at least a bit...
With his brilliant mind and deadly body, he started to research how "death" in biological organisms works. He often analizes the dead bodies of the animal stocks that die in the Village, and invented poison to kill the unwanted animals in the magazines.
Fossa learned to stop worrying and love the poison.
(YES. he's an entire big reference to Doctor Strangelove by Kubrick. Im a huge Kubrick fan)
Numen (Hellyerite):
Numen is a gem that dehydrates and gets severely ruined (to breaking and changing internal composition) when there is no water and humidity. He is forced to live in the water or in places with a very very high humidity, or he could really risk to die. His vulnerability made him very close to Admirabilis.
In fact, Admirabilis found him when he was born, close to the shore. His limbs already broke and dehydrated, so they kept him, saved his life, and gave him new limbs made of "ammolite", fossilized shells of ancient Admirabilis.
Numen (the name they gave to Hellyerite) grew as a Admirabilis god, until he decided to live his life as a gem, with his peers. He always comes back to the sea and the admirabilis tribe that kept and loved him for generations, but he's a stable sight at the Village, where he is an ambassador for the Admirabilis at the village, since they recognize the Ammolite in him.
Niter:
Niter has the COOLEST name, but its probably the hottest one! Mild, quiet and happy, Niter likes simple things, and most importantly SHINY THINGS.
One day his LOOOOONG braid took fire, and he understood that he could make fire and make it last, unlike Flint that can only make the spark.
(Niter is, in fact, a very important component for gunpowder and fireworks)
Before he was born, gems could not live in the inside of the mountain because it had no lights and they could not be active in the dark. But Niter discovered a way to keep the fire going (he invented torches!) and, thanks to him, now gems can live and work in the mountain!
Niter always searches for a way to improve his torches. He doesnt like to stay still, he's always super active and likes to work even in the night! Yttrite, that works in the dark and in the night, is very close to him. Yttri is WAY older than Niter and considers him a younger brother to protect and support... but Yttri will never say it aloud.
Shilovite:
Shilovite is not very loved in the Village. He's born as a "parasite gem" on top of the remains of an older, fatally broken gem, Chalcopyrite. It's not his fault, but not many want to understand that.
He's an organic gem born by... animal waste. By that, he understands animals and birds more than anyone in the whole Village, and he can tame them and teach them to do tricks, serve the village or be good puppies. Shilo is actually very nice and soft-spoken, and has a very nice relationship with Vaterite. They get along TOO well... Abel is a bit jealous of it...
