43. Does your character have a switch that changes aspects of their personality whether they are around friends, family, etc. Is there someone who gets to see their true self?

She doesn’t have a switch, per se, but she’s very reserved. The casual person does not get to see her inner self, and even her partner hasn’t cracked quite that far yet (though she’s markedly more comfortable with him than almost anyone else). Getting close to Tsuyan is a long process, and she stubbornly fights it every step of the way. Those who assume her feelings or step over the line are met with a very cold reaction, and this can be an instant switch from an earlier pleasant demeanor.

Shana is the only person around whom Tsuyan feels she can “drop the act” and be her truest self. Though they don’t often speak due to differing duties and adventures, the sisters are very close.

03. What would be their favorite physical trait about themselves?

Once, the mirror was her friend. She’d never cared a lot about her appearance, could never be as vain as perhaps the elves might be, but she’d liked the way she looked. Her father’s smile lived on in her, her mother’s eyes had shone beneath choppy bangs. The chipped tooth she’d earned romping around with her siblings would always remain.

When she gazed in the mirror now, though, she saw an alien face. Blue eyes masked by the glow of arcane energy, her smile more often a frown, her cheeks a little sunken. She had aged and she had become something that was no longer true to herself. The scars on her arms frightened her as much as the piercing, otherworldly gaze that was reflected back to her.

Her hair, though, her hair had not changed. The same twin braids and buns that her mother and sisters had styled so long ago, that she had kept because she liked the way the braids swung, liked the way they framed her face. She liked the tickle of messy bangs on her brow, and putting different ribbons and silk covers on her buns. Her face had changed, but the hair on top of it had not, and even if it got singed or cut or mangled it would always grow back. Shana loved her hair most of all these days, for its resilience and its ability to come right back to where it had been, right where she wanted it.

Oh goodness! :( I hope things get a little better….and maybe they’ll get a little bit of a wake-up call?

i don’t really know what’s going to happen from here, but i hope that some introspection takes place for everyone, me included.

ω: Have you ever dyed your hair? If so, what color(s)?

Not unless you count getting highlights (high school, mom was thrilled), which was really only half my decision. I never really got into playing with my hair very much, and I heard lots of horror stories about bad dyes that would kill your hair and stuff so psyched myself out pretty easy.

Every once in a while I toy with the idea of dying the rest of my hair a darker brown to make my grey streak pop more (because the streak is boss), but that’s it and I probably won’t do it.
