More clan sketches because I’m liking this. ‘Front’ view of the clan. I’ll likely do some more sketches breaking down each of the elements in this, like what the clan entrance looks like, the various paths, the docks and other various buildings. That’s an imperial for scale right in front of the clan entrance.

Decided to do a palette challenge as a little exercise. And as a bonus exercise, my lair at sunrise. Highly simplified, I didn’t include the roads or crop fields at all. But I think it’s nice for giving a general idea on how this looks.

Rough sketch of Petal’s Observatory. The overall landscape is very flat, with few things to obstruct the night sky.... aside from the giant tree, of course. So his observatory is located a decently long walk away from the tree. It does still somewhat obstruct a bit of the sky, but enough to not be a huge bother.

Despite the overgrown appearance, it’s a new building. The clan built it when they first moved here. It’s a very pretty building, made of wood, stone and gold. But Petal didn’t like how unnatural it looked, and had some nature dragons add a little flair. There’s the main observatory building, which is round and very large, a few stories tall. Built into the side is a slightly smaller building, with rooms such as a kitchen and bedroom. Petal doesn’t actually sleep there often, he prefers to sleep in his den in the main clan. But it’s useful if he has a lot of study to be doing and doesn’t have the time to travel back and forth.

I can’t believe that I own this house and I’m responsible for it and, as the unquestioned lord of my domain, I can spend an egregious amount of time and effort painting things gold

I had imagined that caulk would come out of the tube in a predictable forward direction, and then stop coming out when you were done, and that it would stick to the wall and the molding would stick to it, and absolutely none of those things happened even a little bit, so that’s something to keep in mind for next time

Here’s the baseboard I’ve been working on, it hasn’t finished lightening in color yet and it still smells a little so I’m leaving it until maybe tonight I want to tape up the rest of the rooms today so I can throw a coat on over everything first thing tomorrow morning

On one side it’s a folding door, on the other side it’s...an unusable regular door with a hole for the doorknob!
