She's a changeling, a species that replaces newborns of other animals and grows up to be virtually identical. When they attempt to reproduce with another of their species, they end up laying clutches of the "real" changeling, which reproduce with eachother to go on and lay eggs on newborns and repeat the cycle.

Changelings really are identical to their donor species, right down to intelligence. The majority of changelings occur to social animals like deer, flocking birds, rabbits, wolves etc. They are functionally that animal, aside from the fact they can't reproduce like one. A changeling deer will act exactly like a deer, and generally see itself as one. This whole "is as intelligent" thing only hits a snag whenever a changeling dragon happens. They really are a dragon, but aware of the fact they're not at the same time. Changeling dragons are pretty rare for a lot of reasons, and those that do exist usually have a pretty complicated relationship with their own identity. Lesthe is no exception in this regard.

Seeing as I don't really play FR anymore, I want to remake some of my most treasured dragons into OCs divorced from FR. Starting with my progens, my random progen Oras. I love this guy, and it was fun to lean into the butterfly aspect. AF plug.
