Favourite tragic boys

Made these quite some time ago and haven't played the game since then but I still like how the aesthetics turned out

I dropped by again because I finally managed to tear myself away from work and slowly started a new art series. This time not for Romance Club, but for another visual novel game — League of Dreamers. Specifically, the story “In the Embrace of Darkness.”

For this series, I even asked another artist for permission, just so there wouldn’t be any conflicts later on (I really don’t like drama). I even made a speedpaint for the very first piece. And oh boy, I remembered what a total nightmare editing is... so yeah, the video thing is a one-time special.

So, the series is called “Whipped Boys.” And the first one up is my favorite — Lais Atrau.

The tricky part with this series is that I have no references. At all. So I just skipped the construction stage — it was hell anyway! I went straight to the detailed sketch and coloring. That’s how it’ll be with the rest of my favs too.

I didn’t want to dress him in the in-game outfits, so I went with something closer to our reality, and I don’t regret it one bit. The boldness is still there, but drawing him was way easier. The most interesting part was picking the palette. I wanted to keep that sterile white vibe, but at the same time give the picture some life and richness. In the end, it came out pretty contrasty.

And now... his tattoos. WHO CAME UP WITH THAT?! THEY DID THIS ON PURPOSE JUST TO MAKE US ARTISTS SUFFER!!!

Overall, I like how it turned out. Though, for example, I actually added his smile only after I had already posted the art elsewhere — without it, he looked waxy and lifeless. But with the smile... ohhh, perfection!

No, but, seriously, everyone is equally sus tbh. The only ones I could trust are the Atrau brothers, especially Lais. Not because he's my main LI, but because he's the only one who is honest to Mercella and didn't try to control her. Other LIs tried to make MC quit the hunt but Lais was like "I got your back, girl!!!". He's great in both romance and friendship route.

Exactly! Lais is a warrior first and foremost but it doesn't mean he lacks empathy or kindness and he won me over when he trained Mercella because he was the only person who helped her when she needed the most.

And you know what? This update made me love him even more because and while he likes Mercella, he still tries to do the right thing even if it hurts both.

Lais is a treasure who deserves more love and appreciation 😭!

Ik Vincent Sinclair will approve Gabbas' parenting method lol. I feel bad for Ayen and Lais, though. Especially Lais because he thought himself as nothing but a tool for his family. His reception scene and revelation also supported this. But, somehow, he wasn't mad about it. I don't think his family see him as an inconvenience.

LOD and bad parenting? name a more iconic duo.

But honestly, I think Gabbas is more lenient with Lais because he embodies all the things his culture taught him and he is the perfect warrior please ignore the people badmouthing Lais or his issues... this is no way a biased take.At all. compared to Ayen who is weak yet with a sharp mind.

But you can still tell Lais is messed-up despite being treated "better" than his brother, he barely cares about his life and and is ready for the worst because a chance to escape? impossible.

And yet...

Yet despite his warrior-like mentality, despite how blunt and rude can be, Lais is a very emphatic person who can read your emotions very well.

Lais is a man with many facets, that is what I am saying and he is the best freaky LI ever someone could write (seriously, his freakiness needs to be studied and copied because the contrast is very attractive).
