Houghton Flooded, Needs Help!

Hey friends, followers, please lend me your time and take a read:

All my best childhood years were spent in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula -- especially Lake Linden. The best, visiting my grandpa and grandma when they were alive. That little village is the foundation of my imagination and creativity, and a seed of it is still very much a part of me even though I’m so painfully far away from it. So much of the Upper Peninsula, and especially the Houghton County area, inspires me constantly.

The people up there are down to earth, and downright magical to be around. My grandparents’ neighbors I used to play with when I was much younger are still some of my dearest friends to this day. Everyone knows everybody, fantastic community, just the most gorgeous place in the north to be. Intense but beautiful winters, and the air always smells of wildflowers during the summer.

Sunday June 17th, 2018, it rained hard. Lake Linden and other areas in Houghton immediately got tore up by flash floods. Roads, homes, family history, just washed right the hell away. I’ve been sent pictures that are just massive sinkholes and canyon cracks where there were once very familiar roads little-me used to walk. It’s like water just swept through and swallowed up this place so important to me. I’ve got friends who’s parents lost their family homes, places I’ve once stood in, and there just doesn’t look like a spot that wasn’t wrecked by all that chaos.

I’m so angry, upset, and at a loss. There’s so many lives, so many old neighbors of mine, displaced by record flash floods.

If you friends and followers can spare it, PLEASE consider giving to the Houghton area.
