General Carrera (Chilean part) or Lake Buenos Aires (Argentine part) is a glacier lake located in Patagonia and is surrounded by the Andes mountains. It became internationally known in 2015 when Douglas Tompkins, founder of North Face, tragically succumbed here during a kayaking accident. It is very a popular stop on our South American your, Journey to Ushaia, which starts in Mendoza and ends 22 days later in Ushaia, the world's southernmost city and we always make great memories when visiting this gobsmackingly beautiful place. Here we have two of our riders are contemplating the spectacular scenery that we found on most days when we ride through Patagonia!
