when the pinky ring guy was shown turning into a creature from the alien movie while eating out that lady i DID just thought it was a visual overexaggeration for comedic reasons but NO. he later just says out loud that he is indeed some bisexual sex demon. im sorry for doubting you boots riley...

Major shoutout to Lakeith's monster form in I Love Boosters!!!! Funny how the character doesn't even have a name lmao

I'm sorry but that is the type of monster I need to see getting fucked and love. Give me more of that grotesque and otherworldly designs, let me feel gross but intrigued by the character.

When first seeing that scene, god I was so taken aback by it. I couldn't even look at the scene a few times. But now.... good lord I would love to have some action with him <3

Watched Judas and the Black Messiah recently, here's some disjointed thoughts:

Great voice/accent work, especially by Daniel Kaluuya, great acting in general. I don't know what Fred Hampton sounded like in real life, but Kaluuya's voice was a huge part of the character and worked so well. Especially impressive since his real accent is so different from the character's.

Watching Hampton during those tense scenes meeting up with hostile groups (the Crowns, a group prominently displaying a Confederate flag) was like watching a DnD character roll incredibly high on charisma/persuasion checks, very satisfying

Stanfield portraying O'Neal (the titular Judas) was great because it was so easy to see what motivated the character (greed and fear) but you still saw his emotional turmoil. It's not clear how much he believes in the Black Panther rhetoric, but he becomes close to Hampton and the other high ranking members - and still sells them out, over and over.

partway through the movie (we watched it in two sessions) we saw online the criticisms that he actors cast were visibly older than the real people they were portraying. I didn't think much of it until the end, when it's revealed that Fred Hampton, at the age of his death, was 21, and O'Neal would have been a teenager when he was first recruited by the FBI. Kaluuya and Stanfield's performances are amazing, and i fully respect the decision to cast actors who they thought would do the best job, rather than look most historically accurate - but I do think the experience of watching the movie would have been different if it had been visibly obvious how young they all were. Part of the movie includes (fake) documentary footage of an older O'Neal, who's asked why he trusted the FBI agent who recruited him. He responds that the agent was a good role model, which he'd been lacking before - and this is much more believable reasoning for a 17-year-old than someone who appears to be in their 30s.

the movie does NOT pull any punches when it comes to portraying the FBI, Chicago PD, or government in general. It's very clear that both the FBI and Chicago PD are willing to kill innocent people to maintain white supremacy, including someone hospitalized, and someone sleeping and unarmed. I'm kind of curious to know what anyone from the FBI or CPD thinks of this movie.
