CAL TJADER – SEVERAL SHADES OF JADE

Several Shades of Jade is a 1963 studio album by American jazz vibraphonist Cal Tjader. Arranged and conducted by the renowned Lalo Schifrin, the album is a notable fusion of jazz with Asian-inspired melodies and exotic textures, peaking at number 79 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The album is often cited as a prime example of "Exotica" jazz, where Tjader moved beyond his typical Latin-jazz sound to explore "Oriental" themes. It has been reissued several times, including a 1997 CD compilation paired with another of his Eastern-themed albums, Breeze from the East.

Lalo Schifrin – Bossa Nova : New Brazilian Jazz

Bossa Nova: New Brazilian Jazz is an album by Argentine composer, pianist and conductor Lalo Schifrin recorded in 1962 and released on the Audio Fidelity label. The album was released during the height of the popularity of bossa nova music in the early 1960s and was one of Schifrin’s earliest solo albums after leaving Dizzy Gillespie’s band.
