them getting together was partly jeremy’s doing. laila and alvarez didn’t really talk so much when they first met freshman year.  laila was still awkward and shy, and alvarez was nervous over how pretty she thought laila was.  jeremy ended up befriending them both which led to them spending more time together, and they ended up bonding over the fact that alvarez was reading a book laila hated

from there they talked pretty much nonstop

after games, they’d hole up in laila’s dorm with pints of ice cream and watch movies - usually cheesy romances - which they’d both make jokes over and cry at.  it’s how laila found out about alvarez’s affinity for musicals, and how alvarez discovered laila knows the entirety of sixteen candles by heart

alvarez was the first one to blurt out her feelings, when they were getting lunch between classes.  they were tucked into the same booth, and laila was laughing at a story alvarez was telling her about her biology class, leaning into alvarez’s side, and alvarez just. couldn’t stop herself from telling laila how stunning she thought she was, and that she really, really liked her

laila didn’t hesitate to tell her she’d been trying to figure out for weeks how to ask alvarez out

laila is always stealing clothes from alvarez’s closet.  mostly sweaters, but she’s also particularly fond of all alvarez’s cheesy science pun t-shirts

alvarez’s instagram is approximately 90% laila.  she’s always taking pictures as it is, and with how often laila is around, and how much she loves laila?? she just happens to end up in nearly every picture

they’re competitive.  where, say, jeremy and jean might nicely split a package of oreos, laila and alvarez are racing to see who can finish more in one go

their first date was to the aquarium and alvarez spent the whole time listing off facts about sharks.  laila spent the whole time wanting to kiss her

will spend evenings baking together, even if neither of them is particularly good at it.  they’ll listen to whatever music one of them is currently in love with, and alvarez will twirl laila around the kitchen

laila loves doing alvarez’s hair. her own is really short, but on days she misses getting to style it, she’ll just sit behind alvarez and braid her hair fancy and pretty and it’s the most relaxing thing for both of them

it’s always a race to see who can send the good morning text first. laila generally wins, purely because alvarez lives for sleep

they pass a lot of days off by curling up in alvarez’s bed, where alvarez watches laila play animal crossing on her ds, or laila listens to alvarez reading her whatever book she’s been into recently

both of them have so many of those little photo strips from the booths at the mall, because neither of them can resist photo booths. each strip of pictures is cuter and cheesier than the one before it

alvarez loves laila’s laugh more than anything else in life

laila could write sonnets about alvarez’s singing voice

when she knows alvarez is nervous about a test or an upcoming game, she’ll text her asking for science facts, because she knows it calms alvarez down

when laila gets sick, alvarez forgoes her own health and curls up in bed with her.  if she ends up getting sick too, then so be it, she just wants to comfort and cuddle her girlfriend

laila is always trying to surprise alvarez with little things - surprise dates to art museums or her favorite cupcakes from the bakery downtown

they tease each other relentlessly over little things.  their relationship is at least half laughter-filled banter

they move in together right after graduation, and once things settle down and they both have proper jobs, they adopt a dog named Hercules, and send jean and jeremy roughly 684 pictures of him every day

they could not possibly be more in love
