“Der Teufel steckt im Detail”, the house of Lambert van Meerten (Oude Delft 199) in Delft is a marvel of the late 19th century, built between 1891 and 1893. The building is filled with curious details such as shown here. These 16th century fragments from historic houses were collected by Van Meerten who incorporated them into his new home. Apart from such fragments he also collected other works of art and antiques like Delft pottery and furniture.
