Hi I just wanted to say that I'm a big fan of your blog and fanfics. I don't know if your taking prompts but I was listening to City and Colour's song "The Girl", I don't know if you've heard the song, but I always get massive Rinn feels from it. I fully understand if you can't but I would love if you were able to write a fic based on this as your one of my favourite MMFD fandom writers.

I am intimately familiar with that song! It’s been known to play on repeat a time or two while I indulge in some Rinn feels. I do so love to kick around Band AUs in my head whenever I hear a great song.

However, there’s a lovely little fic by lametwentysomething featuring this song, so I would direct you there. It’s sweet and gorgeous and aching, and I remembered it all this time later, even though I am terrible about remembering things. There’s nothing I could do with that song that she didn’t do, and much better. Enjoy this one instead, I know I did!

54. Which bands/artists have you seen LIVE?

I haven't been to many gigs they are so expensive here but;

First gig line up; The Thrills, Groove Armada, Pixies, Red Hot Chilli Peppers

Second gig line up; Delorantos, The Coral, Supergrass, Arctic Monkeys

Small gigs; Kate Nash, The Coranas, Fred, Oh and I brought my sister to one of Glee's live shows

59. Bands/artists you still wish to see LIVE?

See I am weird and I would have to really be in love with a band to go to a gig. Hozier, he recently put on dates for next month in a lovely intimate venue the night before they went on sale I had the most stressful night in a long while and I clean forgot they went on sale and they sold out super quick. I want to see him because I feel like he is the one that got away. So yeah Hozier, maybe Tiny Ruins, Massive Attack snd hypothetically The Clash.

3.What part of the fic I am I most proud of?

Wow this is hard because I actually struggled a bit writing it. I knew what I wanted to say and how but once I hit the editing stage I felt like I had done alot of telling rather then showing. Anyhoo there is tiny bit in it where Rae writes a list and she uses Mariah Carey as a meter I dunno when that came to me it sounded very much like Rae. I am bit proud that I stood a bit outside my comfort zone of fluff and attempted to explore something a bit darker I suppose...

11. If I were to rewrite this fic, what would I change?

This is abig question because I have in and around three dafts of this fic for both parts and the first drafts a different from the finished pieces. There are scenes that I cut entirely one I remember from part one where Rae is a lecture hall and is terrified of the little tables and getting stuck in them..maybe I would leave that in. I think I would try and show more maybe even have more interactions with Rae and her roomates.. I think for my Finn part I would add more occasions to show is boredom in a one horse town. Maybe I would have simplified the fic I bit more, it was a bit jumpy especially part two but I was trying to cover about four months...Not sure I did a great job of answering this question

(3) What’s the part of the fic I’m most proud of?

The entire scenario in Ch4 when Finn punches the guy in the bar and chases after Rae. There’s something very candid and natural about that entire response and the subsequent interaction that felt like improv by the characters while I was writing it - there was no plotting or planning by either of them in the moment, just pure reacting to each other. The instigating event/escaping the bar was the only part I had planned (it was based on a real experience from my early 20s that was just too outlandish not to recount somewhere). From a writing perspective, it was also the first time that I put things in way that I felt set a new bar for myself (lines below are the ones that I was most proud of and my beta gave me strong feedback that they were good character defining pieces of information):

I had half a fucking pint left on the table.

Something about her red Converse disappearing into the dark neighborhood beckoned him to follow her.

(4) What part of the fic was the hardest for me to write?

The party at Archie’s house in Ch10. I needed to accomplish specific things, but also bridge their last nightie Croyde. I remember when I was around their age and would do things over summers, the last nights were always this sentimental time of reflection and a staple of the experience, especially whenever there was some sort of division between parents (“them”) and the young ones (“us”). I wanted to capture that without spending too much time developing the scene, because I needed to move on to the next morning. I’m not unhappy with the way it turned out, but I still think of ways it could be different. It’s kind of the same thing with the epilogue for The Roundabout, because I find parties challenging to write. I predominately focus on specific individuals without trying to describe the actual circumstances in explicit detail, because it’s a delicate balance of capturing a kind of atmosphere without turning words into white noise.
